Matchmaking, our biggest enemy in the fog
Im really wondering if i did a correct transaction by buying this game.
Im always playing as a survivor, im rank 19, my max. rank was 18, almost 17 with 8 hour games. I know how does somewhat works the basic survivors and some skills.
The archives needed to use a skill with the survivor that i don't have besides being level 32 so... I tried luck with the killer, first time killer.
This is the matchmaking. See for yourself and tell me how the ######### does this game ranks you up.
Rank 15: Meh, i don't really know it but well let's say its okay.
Rank 18: Okay.
Rank 17: Okay.
Rank 9: Wait what.
Yeah, this is a crypost i think, but im really wondering if everytime will be the same. When playing as a survivor, most of the killers are our rank or a bit higher. There's sometimes that a lower one appear but being rank 19 right now finding a rank 20 doesn't gives much difference as they're with the level 1 or 2 skills.
Also, i found several people in my games (as a survivor and this last one as a killer) with a glowing golden clothes but i googled it without any kind of idea what are those but they are so ######### visible lol
#Crypost ended.

At least the rest look okay.
If you are rank 7 you only get red rank 2 SWF groups cause of queue times.
So like, if you have 30 hours playtime and get to rank 7, you are now going against the same survivors that like, Tru3 and Otz play against- that is how broad and unfair the matchmaker is. 2000 hour SWF gorups? Of course!
Not much can be done about it, they don't have the player base population to change it.

I guess, from this last match i done after the screenshot i got another low rank, 10 and 12 this time. Im really wondering how to learn when you even know the maps :(

rank really doesn't matter a ton. There's plenty of people at rank 13-15 with thousands of hours that do it by choice. It really only matters when you start getting around purple colored ranks. That's when you get the super sweats.

I don't really know how does that work, think that i've 8 hours playing this so im pretty new. Wasn't the matchmaking by shards got by objectives in the matches?

matchmaking is supposed to be people no more than 5 ranks higher or lower than you. Problem is a lot of the times people queue together or there's not enough people online at your rank currently searching and they don't want to make you want an hour for a match. Thing with rank is it's pretty easy to depip and people abuse it to go against new killers/survivors so they stay around 10-15 just to achieve that.

FML, in both matches i got almost raped no kidding.

Usually when I play Killer I get the SWF's groups on console. Flashlight blinds, 3 man blocks, not to mention the smart asses that run Vigo's Cloak and Shroud Of Binding.
The best thing you can do is keep playing and get better.

Indeed but it gets so frustrating to not seeing a progression just because you can't progress with stuff you don't even know. Im only a survivor player, im doing this for the archives and i really feel a progress playing as a survivor :(
Well i can't complain forever, i'll try a few more matches as a killer. Thanks guys!

It sucks as solo survivor sometimes too. I spent this whole match thinking "######### is happening right now" then I get to the scoreboard and I'm like "oh... neat."

Just as proof, this stuff only happens with killers:
The killer left the game...

I’ve seen even worse as a survivor, we had a team of all red ranks so that’s between 1-4 and we got paired against a rank 15 killer... poor guy got one hook the entire game. This should be priority number one after Christmas break for them

Indeed, i, as a survivor in this match, felt like "he's a bit lost, what's he doing". When the match ended i understood everything. Is not about winning or loosing, is about having fun with people that actually understands how the game works...
Not every rank 20 killer is a new player but... Not a good sign indeed
