What happened to my matches?

To give a basic rundown, for the past year my matches used to be pretty good and fun overall. For the past 3 months I slowly started taking off ruin on all of my killers in favor of having completely unique builds and that worked out for a pretty long time, I'd end up with good chases and overall pretty decent pressure. This all changed with the Cursed Legacy update however, since this update my matches have gone completely downhill and became horrendously unfun. Each match I load into now just ends in 3-5 minutes, people are healing faster than I can injure other players, gens are just popping before I can even reach them and even ending my chases quickly has done nothing to help this at all and this has just been constant for the past 2 weeks I'll look at streamers and other content creators and they'll get completely normal games which is what I don't understand.

Overall this just leaves me with two questions ;

1 : Why have my matches suddenly become extremely unfun?

2 : Am I the only one or have others suddenly had horrendously unfun matches?

I don't usually rant about the game like this but it's so odd how I've only now been getting terrible matches back to back.

Yup I can slug, win chases quite quickly but unless I'm playing a top tier killer my matches end too soon. I mind game loops and down them within 30 seconds but gens just still pop. Even when playing as survivor I've noticed that people are more often leaving me on the hook until the VERY last second just to rush out gens.

I don't know but if I'm forced to play Spirit and Billy then so be it but I find it incredibly unfun to play the same killers constantly.

As someone who doesn't use Ruin or many slowdown perks in general while playing lower tiered killers like Wraith and Legion, it's more of a 50/50 chance, usually dependent on what items survivors have, what map we're on, and if my Devour Hope survives long enough to get some mileage out of it. Probably just some bad luck, or the new matchmaking thing putting you within 6 ranks of you, meaning a green rank killer can be put with a 4 man SWF red rank group.

The thing is, pretty much every month I've made my way up to red ranks and never ran into the whole "4 man gen squad" people talk about on here, I'd say it's probably bad luck on my end but it's just been constant bad matches for the past 2 weeks.

Devs have said they have no plans to nerf Wraith anytime soon, so my Bing Bing shy boi is safe for now. Really hoping they don't touch him too bad if they do, Phil was and has been my main since I started back in January 2018, even if I haven't been playing him as much because I've been picking up newer killers since they have come out. Started with Ghostface, then Demo, then I went back and gave Plague a chance, and now Oni. So basically my hierarchy of mains looks like

    1. Wraith

    2. Legion

    3. Ghostface

    4. Demogorgon

    5. Plague

    6. Oni

I think the answer is fairly obvious: the rift challenges.

I know the past season I didnt rank up at all as survivor, the previous season I did move at least a few ranks.

My theory is that everyone got good due to needing to do the more stupid of the challenges and a disinclination to spend more than a few matches getting 10 safe unhooks.

Maybe once the rift closes things may return to a more normal game environment.
