So, generally I like the challenges added to DbD which reward me with bloodpoints and cosmetics. So far there's only been two challenges I find issue with. That's EGC 2 Sacrifices w/ Agitation and Spine Chill Escape w/ no hooks. They both entice the player to be a jackass to get them done imvho :)

I had to play very toxic to get the EGC one done. It was only a few tries, though.

Now this FLIPPING Spine Chill challenge. Oh boy oh boy. I gotta either be a pro looper with old balanced landing or become the immersed monkey not helping my team. The best I've come up with is Quick and Quiet, Iron Will, and Left Behind with Spine Chill and carrying a key. I know Urban Evasion would be nice in place of Iron Will, as not getting hit in the first place is better( I don't have it teachable). Even in a swf I get found at last gen and hooked. I play like this and my team suffers. It's big sad. I'm considering literally doing nothing, letting my team either completely carry me or die so I can get hatch.

Purple ranks btw, so it's not ez pz games.

EDIT: See update below :)

I got mine first try thank god. Decided not to do saves, but be a genbitch. So i equipped all the gen perks and did them. Thank god we had a proxycamping killer, so doing gens was pretty ez. But yeah, i did leave someone behind when they were caught during endgame and werent dead on hook. I actually felt i had to apologize to my teammates for playing like that (did say after i was doing the spine chill challenge). But yeah, i hate playing like that. Thank god i had it in one try!

You need to have some luck to get that one. I managed to get it on one try against nurse on solo survivor. My team played like potatoes and they all died pretty quickly. I was lucky enough to find the hatch.

I didn't have much issue with either of those. The one that broke me was the flashlight save...

I'm done with 3. Waiting on 4. Hopefully it isn't to crazy. Also the flashlight save you still get it if you dont save. As long as you blind while the killer is carrying. That how I got mine.

I didn't know that. Thanks a lot, really. I was struggling on this one!

The part of the spine chill challenge I think is poorly designed is, if your one goal for the game is to get that done, getting hooked is game over. Which means...might as well suicide and go to the next game to try again. Which I called out as being problematic in the feedback subforum a few weeks ago and got nothing but people saying “lol, nah, no one cares that much.” And yet, I have come to designate spine chill as the tell that a player is suicidal because it’s been happening so much, exactly as I feared.

On the plus side two ragequit spine chillers (who said in pregame chat they were going for it so I KNOW I’m not just projecting here.) lead the killer to take pity on the other two of us, and we got our EGC save with them, so that was nice, but seriously. Extremely poorly designed.

Tbh if you plan to loop it out it depends all on the killer for the spine chill challenge.

It took me 3 tries and it doesnt need you to be a total scumbag. Just bring your key, Ds+Dh+Bt/Unbreakable/whatever+ Spine chill. Play it a bit safe and profit. Maybe not the first try but eventually youll complete it and it doesnt take too much

I had a teammate switch to a Blendette with a key at the last second. She did nothing but Urban Evade until we all died and then she got hatch and after the game she just said, "Sorry, I had the challenge." But these challenges are great and not at all ruining the game.

To be honest, I find the Spine Chill challenge pretty fair. It's challenging to complete and not reliant on RNG or a specific situation playing out (unlike the EGC or Chest Challenge)

I know it's still daunting as you have to partially rely on your team not dying early on, but it feels satisfying once complete.

i feel like when it comes to this people should just be more chill about it since when people try to complete these challenges they kinda have to do unusual things which could result in losing the game but i feel as long as you state your doing these tome's then people should understand what your doing and should be totally ok with it since there only going to do most of these tomes for a single game

Main issue here is that unless your hiding the entire match, which is not fun for essentially be in a 3v1 as your team will be, it is reliant on your teams' and the killer's skill more than your own. Not RNG, but statistically (if we had statistics) unlikely you'll be the factor that gets you the never hooked escape.

The Spine chill challenge took me like 10-15 matches, but I refused to be useless while doing it so I always did gens and totems. The frustrating part was that I would make it through like half of those games unscathed and then get hooked with the last gen popped and I was SO pissed off. XD Especially because during those game, I had changed my profile name to SpineChillNoHookPls lol

Like come on, you went this whole game without hooking me, why you do this :(

I play with Spine Chill all the time so for me it was just a matter of time to get this one. Wasn't that hard honestly.

I have no problem with the challenges, just hate how ppl will quit if they dont get it done. Had a game recently where 3 ppl instantly quit out as soon as I went to pick up one guy. They didnt quit when the guy initially got DOWNED...they quit when he was picked up. Saw afterwards they were SWF and the guy had spinechill on...

I still haven't completed it, and now I'm mashed potatoes. Oni took my tongue earlier so I don't know what I taste like.

The challenge is like, piss off the killer so they could make sure to kill you first.

    update. I SAID UPDATE DAMNIT!

OP here. We got it. Turns out that no matter how good your swf or the perks you bring in all you need to do is beg randoms and your teammates to gen rush with you and have a killer on a bad day. Poor Trapper John, as we will call him, had one gen done on him before he hooked anyone. And two more done before the next hook. You can guess how that went for him.

There were a couple close calls, like the killer missing my clenched ######### by an inch when Trapp Daddy swung at me then gave up cause he had to pressure generators that's were popping like there's no tomorrow. Or me being an immersed ninja and avoiding the killer with my cunning every time he came by. And just about every time I through my teammates under the bus because after unhooking them I'd ######### dip lol (everyone made it out) Also I step on no traps. I am Trapper main. You can't kill me with my own tools.

I went on to complete the flashlight 'save' challenge in a few tries, but I actually got a save cause I'm the best Meg main of All Time.

POG Champ Trapper John. He was the end of all my suffering and I accidentally rubbed in the fact he got a 0K by spamming 'I GOT IT DONE THANK GOD AND JESUS POG POG POG' in post lobby chat.

I'm sure you understand my intentions of saying these things. I was thanking him, of course.

I didn't think it was hard, but it is bad because many people do suicide on first hook when they don't get it. Also was bad because some people would just hide the whole game and try and get the hatch. A challenge shouldn't end up ruining the game for the other survivors.

I found the Spine Chill one to be easy.

You just avoid the Killer and never get into a chase. Choose perks that help you achieve this.

I did it with Spine Chill, Calm Spirit, Fixated and Alert. I didn't have Kindred, but I probably would have used that over Calm Spirit or Alert. I just did Totems and Gens while the rest of my team dealt with Unhooks and the Killer. Actually, this is how most of my games go since I run Spine Chill all the time and am bad at chases so I avoid them as much as possible.

    🤷

Cant blame a challenge for people being stupid. I may be biased as spine chill is my one perk i never leave off. I didnt hide in a corner. I did 2 gens got 2 saves. Ran the killer for a minute or two. Normal game play.

Only tome 3 challenge i have left is unhook during egc. And thats cause no one opens doors!
