What is your solution to SWF matchmaking? Open to ideas.
So once general matchmaking gets fixed the other problem people disagree on is SWF of wide ranges of ranks. It seems there are three popular options:
- ranked based on the worst ranked survivor. Obviously this part can be unfair to the killer and frustrating for new players, a rank 20 killer ranked against even one rank 1 and his lower rank friends will struggle to catch him and may not know enough to drop chase. Also I used to see rank 1 1 1 15 just to get a rank 15 killer to bully.
- base it on highest ranked survivor. Flip side this is unfair to the survivors, as two rank 2s and two new rank 20s against a rank 2 killer will spend the whole gaming unhooking there new players because they will most likely be instant downs for any good killer.
- use the average. This seems like an obvious solution but if you look at a team of 2 2 14 and 14 they would face a rank 8 killer, the difference in looping between those ranks is so severe IMO that he will quickly down the 14s but be faced with long, multiple gen chases against the 2s so this has the potential to an unfun game for 3 out of the 5 players at least
what would your perfect solution be, assuming whatever you decided on would actually be programmed correctly?

Add icons in the lobby above swf. Give killer bonus bp after the trial ends based how many people are swf to prevent dodging.

This is interesting, how do they get matched though because if it’s option 1 and it’s like a 15 against 1, 1, 1 and 15 hes not getting enough BP for the bonus to even matter.

Swfs aren't the issue. It's the busted ass backwards maps. I'm debating DCing everytime I get maps like Ormond and Thompson's House. Survivors can ragequit when they get a killer they don't like, why shouldn't killers do the same for maps?

Fair enough, I just feel this really sucks for new survivors but I guess it’s their choice to play with their friends. It does also stink to be that one solo player at rank 2 when your teammates are SWF at rank 2, 15 and 20... against any decent rank 2 killer you’re getting crushed
the 6 range is definitely too wide... I don’t think the devs realize what a huge difference there is in looping abilities from 10 to 4 for example.

Uhh, yeah, they can. Dc penalties aren't even in place yet. And console never even got the live test. People can DC when they want with zero consequences.

I think a fair compromise would be use highest rank survivor but for each of their mates who is 4 ranks or higher than them they have a +1 modifier. So a 4,5,8,10 would be looking for a rank 6. A 1,1,1, 20 would be looking for a rank 2.

I can't message too often because my account is jailed. Reread what I wrote. I said I WANT to start disconnecting when I get bad killer maps. Survivors and killers can DC all they want with no penalties. I'm gonna start doing it too, since I still get people rage quitting just because I want to play a killer they don't like.

5k is honestly nothing. Sure it might sting if you're still levelling up your killers but if not the benefits are greater than 5k bloodpoints. I agree map offerings are a patchwork fix and I would rather have a map banning system to illustrate how much control the killer has. We can both agree the correct solution is to fix the maps but we also know how devs are coming along with that.

I like this one, combined with a point modifier for killers.
I think another thing that should be considered, since Gen speed is hard to touch, is reverse leader; if they are SWF, they get a lot of extra information. Make it so other, non-gen actions are slightly skewed towards killer. Since one person finding the Hex totem means the entire SWF finds it, make it so Hex totems get a slight Thrill of the Hunt slow effect against SWFs. Make it so the exit gates take a little longer to open, since people can know when they are nearly opened and which ones to go to. Make it so hook progression is slightly faster, since they can tell their friends when the killer is nearby and if someone is coming to save them. Chests probably don't need to be touched.

This is what people don’t get about communication, but you hit it on the head. Just knowing whether it is actually safe to keep working on a gen without even having to look around because the killer is chasing someone else is HUGE. When three gens are left knowing which one is progressed is HUGE. Knowing which exit gate is 99 is HUGE.
Now most SWF aren’t the unbeatable death squads people complain about, but even friends on comms gain advantage so a little little bit of a hindrance like you described would be perfect.

I think that this would be a good way to approach it. when I'm in swf, omly one of us generally needs to bring spine chill when we're staying grouped up and can give everyone else an early warning, meaning everyone else can bring other things to speed up gen progression or help with distracting the killer. against more unexperienced killers, it's kind of no contest and we escape 80% of the time. a lot of the time we feel bad for going against new killers, or when a person is playing a killer they've never played before, but still got ranked w us because they're usually better at it. (I know about the one matchmaking bug that puts you against people too high, and killers that realise they're playing against babies can be REALLY mean, hence why I'm glad they took away ranks on the lobby, to prevent bullying newerr players and also lobby dodging. this is a different issue though)
I only just started playing killer, and as rank 15 i keep getting matched against swfs of one rank 20-17 but the rest are 10-8 and run circled around me the entire game, constantly flashlight me, and tbag at the gate and point and man lemme tell you. when you're just starting out? that is really discouraging and just makes a person not have fun and not want to play. i have friends who refuse to play killer because of this kind of thing. which isn't ideal, when you play a game you want to play all modes and enjoy most of it, you know?
so yeah I think matchmaking in this way would help a lot with these kinds of parties.

This is also causing survivor lobbies to get LONG. I played a solid 10+ games of SWF yesterday. Lobbies were 3-5 minute waits. When they had to go, I played killer. Lobbies are instant. They are losing older killers due to nerfs, long lasting bugs, and things they find unfair not being addressed, but new killers aren't coming in because when you are new, it can be really rough. Its already a solo experience, and so if you don't have fun on your own, you switch to playing with friends or not playing at all, and that is starting to create an imbalance.

yeah, the queues in swf parties are ridiculous, and with the current server issues it's become a bit of a pain to wait 15 minutes for a match, only for the killer to realise you're swf since you just joined together, and d/c. or halfway through a match, they figure it out and d/c, meaning the long queue you were just in kind of was pointless. the way that people abuse swf and also how the match making works for it really discourages people from cooperative play, or even just playing at all and it's very sad.

Highest rank determines killer rank I am a killer main and I swf with 2 red ranks I won’t host because I host I probably force low rank killer, the thing is I double pipped against rank 2 killers as a rank 16 survivor mind you in 2 years I never progressed past rank 14 I am basically new to survivor, do it this way and worse case scenario low rank survivors Learn to get better quick.
