(Devs) How to balance SWF...

..get rid of it!

Seriously, this game was not meant to have this game mode at all. If I can remember correctly how the game was described upon release, it was something along the lines of: anti-social, feeling isolated and alone, unsure of other survivors' intent, play style, and skill, no mics, etc., etc.

I main survivor at red ranks (usually) so this is not another whiny killer post because I can't get 4 kills as killer every game. Sure, I've played SWF - mostly with my nephew (who hasn't dipped below rank 16 ever!) but I've also played with rando SWF groups who invite me to their party chat and from there, I can see how abusive this mode is. They are so altruistic to each other but if you're not in their group - you can BLEEP off. There's a very good reason mics are not accessible in this game. It just creates a certain toxicity and really takes away from the mood of the game. If you want to know the killer's every move - run Object of Obsession.

If groups want to play together, they can access KYF and play from there. Heck - throw in a daily 500 blood points for a successful ######### group match but for the love of all things - please get rid of SWF.

Thanks for reading.

They need to change it from SWF to BWF if you know what I mean.

This wouldn't be a bad idea if the game was balanced around solo queue. It's not so no.

Umm... I don't know about that. I mean, I play solo all the time and I'm doing good (win some, lose some). Altought maybe I've played with a 3 man swf team or a 2 man swf team without being aware of it. I'm gonna start checking steam profiles more often to make sure.

I believe the game would survive and even thrive without SWF.

I can't even wrap my head around how the devs try to balance this game for Solo AAAAAAAND SWF Survivors but I guess there's a way (but not really...)

Getting rid of SWF would just be another thing they wouldn't have to concern themselves over and help the health and integrity of the game.

Sure there'd be a backlash (not from me tho) but people would still play. If you decide you don't want to play Dead By Daylight anymore because you can't team up with your friends to survive - then maybe this isn't the game for you.

However, stupid idea? I strongly disagree.

    Thanks!

You cant get rid of it now. To many people play with their friends. It would cause a revolt in the community and a lot of people would prolly stop playing.

Instead they need to balance maps, they are out of control and make a model for map size so we dont have anymore large ones. Prolly need to give some of them the swamp treatment and shrink them (rotten fields, red forest, mt. Ormond, etc.)

Well... how I see it: once they get rid of SWF, they can balance it around solo queue and it would be that much easier to balance without having to take into account all these different aspects.

    Just my opinion!

    Thanks!

I see what you're saying but honestly - I'm okay with saying, "Goodbye" to SWF groups then.

If you decide to stop playing DBD because SWF is not an option - then it was never really a game meant for you.

    My opinion.

    Thanks!

It's not really something that can be removed after it has been implemented without the sort of backlash that no devs would dive into unless absolutely necessary. It's not a perk or map that has remained in an unfair state for ages that finally gets fixed, it's an expected feature in modern multiplayer games where any "team" consists of more than one single player.

Its removal as well as the equally unlikely option of trying to block the use of VOIP applications in particular quite simply won't ever happen. There's a reason why most discussion about it explore other options, be it SWF indicators, wide balancing changes to base survivors ("solos") and killers alike, seperate queues and more. At least they have a non-zero chance of ever happening.

It wouldn't be a game for anyone at that point. The game would prolly die... considering have of the survivors are swf of some kind. And I play mostly solo queue and killer so it wouldn't affect me.

Its just balance that needs looked at and swf wouldn't be so bad if the maps were fixed. And a second objective put into place. And god forbid the devs actually balance around red ranks rather than green. Yes at first it would be harder for lower ranks but that's what skill caps are, and you learn to get better.

That's extremely biased for 1 side. I main killer and even i can care less if it's a SWF. You can't win em all. And you need to consider killer to surv ratio. 1 to 4 per....So if you make a good portion of the playerbase angry and leave, i DOUBT the game would "Thrive". Hell yeah it's frustrating to get some toxic SWF, but not every single game is SWF.

The reason SWF exists now is because solo survivors would dodge lobbies until they got randomly grouped with their friends.

Now consoles present a new problem. You can send a quick party invite to anyone in the lobby and you're instantly SWF.

PC actually already has that 2nd issue. You can use the pregame chat to set up VOIP to the same effect.

I'm glad you're okay with saying goodbye to SWF, but the rest of the player base that play with their friends would not be. You trying to make the game die or something?

So basically - "to balance, kill the game by punishing people for playing with their friends". Jeez, haven't heard this bogus idea before.

They need to buff solos on swf level and balance killers accordingly. Not get rid of the feature that saved dbd.

People who play swf say they do it because it's more fun with friends yet refuse to play in private matches... The main reason is because it enables them to get ez wins/bp without having the skill required. They could make it so you sacrifice 50% of earned bp if you play in swf, force comms to be in game somehow so killer can hear.

Swf can be easily fixed but stubborn people are not wanting to compromise they just want to roll over 90% of killers, you'll never evolve as a player if you hide in swf fact.

Playing with your friends is bullying I guess. You honestly need to look up the definition of bullying if you think that, having fun with friends isn't bullying. Dumbass.

No, but you'll be in denial if your claim is that comms aren't used to make a killers' life miserable by some SWF teams, smartass.

Also, my comment was supposed be a joke, chill.

Plot twist: friends (people who have them) play together and will use comms because idk people like socializing. I know its a foreign concept but it exists.

I don't even play survivor, and I hate this idea.

I think it's awesome that people can play with their friends. Sounds more fun than always being forced to play alone.

@iamscumqueen101 For a lot of us it's not that we refuse to play private. I wish I could find enough people to do private but sadly I can't. The only people I play with semi regularly I bought the game for. It's not fair to say if you want to play friends play private because a lot of people don't have 4 others to play with. I personally only have 1 or 2 that play regularly out of the 5 people I've bought it for.

On the other hand I agree that voice chat should be in the game similar to how it is in f13 because people will feel less obligated to use discord, they have to be careful about what they say, and they have to be close to each other to talk so no across map info sharing.

No. Stop trying to punish people simply for playing with their friends.

People would do what they did when SWF wasn't a thing.

Que over and over to play with friends. And if that would be impossible then they probably would play less. Or at all.

imagine how long queues would be if people couldn't play with their friends. big chunk of playerbase just left and never looked back.

No one would be dumb enough to do this. Telling people that an online multipler game can't be played with their friends?

If you had friends who also played this game as survivor, you'd like to play with them. The KYF argument is also bad. Honestly play KYF everyday for a few weeks since your a "survivor main" and tell us you won't be bored.

I wouldn't be still playing this game if it was only for solo players and I've been playing this for over 2 years. I enjoy talking with my friends, and if we can't do it here we'll go put our money into other games.

Would you complain if killer lobbies took forever? Yes

Would you complain about people trying to play with their friends by queuing at the same time? Yes

Would you complain about the incompetent teammates your getting at higher ranks? Yes

I've seen many discussions on this forum but none as mind boggling as this.

That is my opinion and the opinion of probably 99% of this community.

    Thanks.

This game lacks a true hardcore mode, so as killer, and as someone who likes to play online against really tough competition, I don't mind SWFs. It isn't like they show up every match, so it doesn't hurt me too much, and when they do show up, I actually get pumped up. If you are a hardcore killer, which I can be with a few of my killer builds, the chance to prove it against a hardcore SWF team can be some of your favorite moments.

And Survivors have hardcore modes too when a killer shows up with a Mori or they have to face and Iri Huntress with her extra hatchets. It's great for yourself and the Game to have really difficult circumstances that a player can beat.

Basically, nut up or shut up and enjoy the challenge of it.

Last time they released stats about it, around half of the people playing survivor were in an SWF of 2 or more survivors. Removing SWF would likely cause a significant portion of these people to stop playing all together.

It's not a good idea if you're a seller to drive everyone away. Right?

Well, the same applies to SWF, they are half of the community whether you like it or not.
