Just bought game for son but can not figure out how to do 2 player on Nightmare Edition Xbox.
Can anyone help?

As far as I'm aware, the game does not support local multiplayer. In order for two friends to play together at once, you would need to get the game on two different Xboxes and party together online.

I get that but is there a way to do killer vs survivors?

On the same machine? No. Even for that, you would need to be playing on two different consoles and party up online in a custom game.
