Why do skins cost so much shards?
Locked characters cost 9000 shards which is understandable but why does one full outfit for one character cost 21000+ shards? A simple skin costs more then the character itself which doesn't make any sense to me, it's just a skin, it shouldn't even be worth anything. I think a full outfit should cost 9000 shards or less.
Realistically, nobody would waste 21000+ shards on one skin/outfit unless they're desperate or have got nothing better to spend it on...

21 000 is greedy AF,lol.
I understand they need money.
But 21 000??????
Those are like 300 hours of playtime xD

Because the developers have to pay a team of staff to create them.
While it would be LOVELY for them to be super cheap, it's not sustainable, they HAVE to encourage people to buy the sets with money to stay afloat, it's just how it is.

What does needing money have anything to do with shard skins?
0 -
I think the theory is that they make them difficult to get through ordinary game time in order to make buying them with real money seem like the easier and more appealing option.
4 -
It's done on purpose so that you're more willing to drop 10$ rather than wasting what? 100 levels? Hundreds of hours of playtime?

If anything chapters are severly underpriced to make them accessible to most players (Given thast the chapters are more important)
Skins being this price/grindy is about right for similiar games, that both have extra monetization and much lower quality skins too.

Yeah the whole Shards-Systems needs an update. Its a system that rewards playtime with skins or characters. But the playtime you need to unlock aynthing doesnt correlate with the reward. Its the same with the free battlepass. The reward is trash.

300?
Dont forget when the level restarts and just give you like 10 shards.
I think it is 700 hours.
3 -
It's free, what do you expect?
No one is playing this game to "Just grind out an outfit" because then you'd just stop playing after you've earned it and that's a little weird, you'd be playing the game anyway - it really doesn't need reworked, what needs to happen is people need to realise it takes time and money to make these things so they need time or money back for them, simple.

Be kind that additional characters can be bought for 9000 lol. I bought two outfits for 21000 till now. My other shards are still stored.
0 -
It's self explanatory.
The mindset it wants to give you: If you want the skin so badly, why not just shuffle out the money for it quickly instead of the TERRIBLE GRIND which could take months?
Shard prices for cosmetics are more for those who have all perks and all characters P3 Lvl. 50 instead of new Lvl. 1.

I would prefer everything to be possibly bought with shards if that were the case (except licensed characters), or for a kind of weekly challenge that offered bonus shards... because the rate at which people gain them is horrendously slow...

The shards cost so much because people would rather play dress up doll with their video games rather than have actual content.
No, skins are not content. They are a money grab that Fortnite and a few other titles have had overwhelming success with and BHVR is simply doing what is a good business decision.
If you give any real amount of money to a developer for cosmetics, you are part of the problem. Seeing as how your complaining about the cost of your barbie and ken outfits, thank yourself.

This, I would rather pay $2.50 for a piece or even $10 for an outfit rather than “waste shards.” I like to stockpile those for when I wanna but shrine stuff for fast Bloodpoints on new chapter killers.

Not true at all.
10$ for a skin with no special effects or sound effects is robbery; especially for a paid game with paid DLC.

The outfit pieces are 7200, the outfit sometimes costs 21000 but both auric and iri shard is reduced when purchasing an outfit piece, it’s just an easy way to earn money

So just because something is free, you gonna make it trash?
1 -
Something being trash is subjective, they have to encourage people to buy stuff, it's how companies exist, idk if you knew that.

Here’s the thing, skins are entirely optional if you don’t want to pay that much or can’t justify it in your budget then don’t.
I rarely buy cosmetics but if I spend 10 bucks a month one auric cells for them I still consider that really really cheap entertainment. Yes DBD costs money but there isn’t a monthly fee so it’s still cheaper than WOW for example

Tbf, what else you want then shards for if not characters? But I agree, them 21k for one outfit is really heavy. I have over 100k shards stored now. But I can't get myself into buying one because it just costs so much that I feel like it's not worth. It's some weird situation for me lol.

Were talking about free stuff. Thats whats supposed to encourage players to play on. idk if you knew that.
3 -
idk if you knew this but stuff you have to earn isn't free.

Same, I have 50k but I’m afraid to “waste,” it on an outfit like what if they start letting us get something else?
0 -
Well, isnt that how it works for every game? If you want the COSMETIC for free just sit there and play the game, doesnt seem like so bad to me. Most games doesnt even have the chance to have skins for free

If you play the game regularly (both sides because you get daily bonuses) you get quite a bit of shards. Also shard prices hurt the most when you just start the game (or when cosmetics first came out with the curtain call chapter) and it can be discouraging. However once you play awhile and start unlocking cosmetics you like, you start bulking up on shards since the characters you play aren’t always coming out with cosmetics. I had saved up 21,000 shards for that biker skin of Kate’s awhile back but since it ended up being auric cell only I was SOL. I just kept bulking up those shards until a cosmetic came out I liked (bought both day of dead skins for legion) and still keep stacking those shards. Just keep playing you’ll end up having them in excess.

Ikr? Or imagine they will reduce the amount of shards needed for an outfit? I would feel to much robbed lol

The only part of skins as killers is the weapon. Survivors enjoy my weapon, top and bottom :(
0 -
idk if you knew this but i dont have to pay for the free stuff
0 -
I guess if you don't value the 100s of hours you put into it then sure, it's free lmao.
But then... you're complaining about "free" stuff?? lol
0 -
people dont want free skins.
21 000 shards is too much plain and simple.
15 000 for a purple skin would be more reasonable
2 -
Not every game out there is there to scam you money... it's just a lot are.
0 -
It’s to encourage players to drop ten ######### dollars on a skin.
0 -
Scam? What actually is a scam to you then? They allow to get cosmetics without opening your wallet by just committing a bit to the game which seems perfectly ok.
1 -
21000 shards is nowhere near 700hours... May be like 200 hours.
Also stop complaining, the devs need to make money to continue putting out frequent content...
0 -
Seems fine to me, they give you free shards just for playing which you can turn into new characters, skins, teachable perks, or bloodpoints.
Price may seem high, but really those shards are a bonus so anything you get with that should be viewed as a bonus too.
