Would casual matches help the game?
With most competitive games, they have the option to play casual or games that don't effect rank. I just wonder if casual matches would help the game grow. My suggestion would be that killers would host a lobby. Survivors can search for the lobby and be told who the killer is before joining. Another option could be a ban system of one or two perks for both sides.

It would likely do the opposite. There'll be less people playing each mode which leads to even loner queue times and dividing the community. And knowing what killer it is before you even start the match takes away the last shred of excitement starting a match has. A ban phase would also not make any sense at all and would make the game very boring, since survivors and killers will ban the same perks every single time.

Fair enough. Looks like the only hope for new content instead of dlc characters is a new game mode.

I love the idea for casual mode but the only difference would be Casual is for fun and Rank is for people who want to climb the rank ladder/ get exclusive rewards.
@ALostPuppy is right though about it causing a divide. Wait times are already too long and having a Casual/Rank mode would be bad.
I can dream though ^^

I just think the game needs a new game mode. The rift was a success but there's too much opportunity to expand the content.

Completely. Let's just take overwatch as a example.
Normal mode is always fine and the chat ends being just gg, while at ranked mode a guy rages at you for taking one character or not doing better than him, then you report and you come up the next day starting the game with a meddage telling you a thanks for the repirt and actions has been made to that guy.

I couldn't help but to relate the casual mode idea to overwatch. There are plenty I players who have little to no time in ranked. Realistically, matches can go for longer than people want to play in a single match. I'd say an average match in dbd is 30mins? I could be wrong. I want to say casual matches in dbd would be shorter and less stressful.

I feel like survivors would only join casual to troll and abuse killers playing casually , and this would separate the community too much

It wouldn't help at all. Play kyf if online play is stressing you.
