So my friend has a Program.
That whenever he runs into a killer that camps, lags, cheats, etc he just blocks that guys IP address so he never has to play with them again. He said that if he joins lobby and gets a error to join the lobby that it's most likely some1 he blocked.
Is this a popular tactic survivors use to avoid playing against toxic killers?

Sounds like MLGA. As far as I know, the devs withdrew approval for that program when the IP blocking feature was added, so it's not allowed.

If its MLGA i'd delete it. You risk getting banned at any time by EAC for it and BHVR stated that they won't unban you or hold any responsibility for it.3
-
If they actually cheat, report them. If you're afraid of lag, pay attention to the pre-game lobby ping (unless they lag-switch, in which case, report them). If they camp, play around it since it's a viable strategy that is actually encouraged.
And if you get get a killer twice in a row with the exact same ping, it is likely the same player. Ping is more revealing than you might think.

Fun fact: MLGA was allowed by the devs, because it gave survivors am overall better gaming experience.
But then they started adding killers to the block list for playing Freddy, because they used perk X or simply because it was a skilled killer.
Which resulted in longer queues for everyone, since MLGA users shared the block list.
That's where the devs took it off the white list.
So now, use it at your own risk.4 -
I don't see how blocking a persons IP address is bannable. I can't get into trouble for ignoring my neighbor for example or blocking some1's number on my phone, etc. I asked and no it's not MLGA he said. It's something he has been using for games since 2012.

If a 1000 people all banned the same toxic player, that directly effects the amount of games they would have connected to.

Perfect... So we can all ban Toxic players IP's so they realize that they shouldn't be toxic.... Therefore leading the game towards a better place. PERFECT. I think every1 should use this.
I don't think you understand. Blocking some1's IP using a program that comes with your modem/router is not illegal in any way. Sort of like blocking ports.
If all 24,000 players played with a wallhacker just once and blocked him it would take around 6,000 games for him to never get a lobby. In any case, we would be that much closer to making a cheater quit.

Your excuse of blocking a wallhacker sounds great at first glance. Unfortunately, that's not what happened with MLGA. Instead, survivors would block a killer for playing Nurse, or using Ruin, or just being better than them. Killers would block a survivor for looping, or teabagging, or just being better than them.5 -
@1Handirl
Sounds good on paper but a google search will reveal how ugly it was.
Many steam profiles listed their banning reasons which was like this:
Ruin = Block
Nurse/Billy = Block
Freddy = Block
Not saving from hook = Block
DS / SB = Block
Myers with Red or purple addons = Block
Map offering = Block
Looping = Block
Camping = Block
Killed me = Block
Survived me = Block
Teabag = Block
Hit on hook = Block
Cosmetic i dont like = Block
Exclusive item = Block
This isn't exaggerated nor complete.5 -

The programm is called MLGA and its use is bannable.
Whether it actually is detected is a different question, but we see a "got banned even though didnt do anything" threads from time to time1 -

By blocking the wallhacker you are not better than the wallhacker himself.
You both exploit a 3rd party programm, in front of the TOS there is no difference and both will get your acc permanently banned.Its the devs job to bann the wallhacker, not urs to block him and in fact MLGA was abused to avoid good players, nurse players, mori users etc etc (you see where this leads to)

The reasons are as deep as humanity's stupidity which it is infinite. So yeah.

What everyone fails to realize about ip blocking it doesn't really work since anyone can change their ip just by resetting their modem and or flushing their dns etc. There's also the big reason of college dorms, apartments, internet cafes etc. You've also got vpn and plenty of other ways to get around it and the reason the big gaming companies don't do it is because it doesn't work.

Someone didn't say "GG" after I mopped the floor with them. Clearly disrespectful blockable offence. I demand praise!

It is indeed not allowed. The TOS clearly state that the use of any 3rd party program yielding you an advantage NOT on the whitelist is bannable, devs removed MLGA from the whitelist, that means that it is bannable.
It only is some kind of "greyzone" because they dont have the tools to detect it atm

Peanits commented in another thread disproving this BS. Maybe the report system "doesn't actually do anything" because:
- The people who should use it (like yourself) choose not to.
- The people who do use it primarily use it to make false reports.
