New Killer Idea: The Boogeyman

Now, I'm no English major, and definitely no story maker but just want to get my ideas out there. Took a few ideas from someone else who also made a Boogeyman killer. Props to them for a bit of backstory help!

Backstory: [Insert Name] wasn't the smartest child in the bunch, and lacked work ethic on top of it. His livelihood paid for it. He worked as a metalworker, as an apprentice to a station that primarily sold to hunters looking for traps and snares. He was nearly never on the front lines of trap construction, and spaced out onto the street whenever he was being tutored.

Over time, he gained an interest in the children that passed by, how happy they seemed. He was miserable, wanting to be like them, wanting to watch over them. He ditched his job right before the end of his apprenticeship, going to work at an orphanage for the so-called nightshift. He blasted the money he made at his apprenticeship by making cookies for the kids to wake up to. He saw their miserable sleeping faces turn into ones of joy and anticipation. He saw many kids come and go, each and every one learning about the man who brought treats every night. But the orphanage eventually was shut down, the kids getting transferred to another one miles and miles away from the first.

He didn't want to go back to a life of metalworking, and began sneaking into people's houses and hiding in closets until everyone was asleep. He'd watch the children while they slept, their faces so much happier then the miserable orphans. He did this often, nearly every night. But one child woke up, looking into his face, both terrified. She didn't even have the chance to scream. He put his hand over the girls nose and mouth, accidentally suffocating the poor girl to death. he laid the girl back down in her bed. he leaped out the window, his small stature allowing it easily. As soon as he got back to his small house, barely kept intact, he had a panic attack. if that girl had gotten away, what would have happened?

The insanity drove him back to his old metalworking place. It was shut down for the weekend, locked down. He had an idea, and grabbed the spare key lodged in the stone walls. He went in and just the sigh gave him memories. Somehow his subconscious remembered nearly everything he had been taught. He got to work, making a glove trap. Half way between a mini beartrap and half way a suffocation device. It was perfect, and he continued his stalking habits. but the paranoia built up inside caused any little twitch of a child would end up in him lashing out, suffocating them with his new creation.

The spree of children murders eventually gave him his title: The Boogeyman. But eventually he was caught. One of the children heard his breathing, and ratted him out to his parents. In fear, they got in contact with the police, not daring to check the closet. He was surrounded, nowhere to go. He was enveloped in black fog, The Entity's voice whispering to him from all angles. He made the deal, and began the stalking once again.

Appearance: Medium height, poor posture and dark clothes with bright vibrant orange eyes.

Weapon: The Suffocating Glove.

Weapon animation: Swings out with his glove and lets the trap bite down on the survivor. Hit animation is just him quickly resetting the trap with his other hand.

Base Stats: All normal stats other than a 24 meter terror radius.

Power: He can enter and exit lockers at the speed of a survivor slow exiting it, just without any noise. While in the locker his terror radius is suppressed and he can use his main power. He can teleport to the locker closest to a survivor, and takes 5 seconds to transition from one locker to another, and doesn't give a notification. If a survivor is in the locker once he gets there, he will grab them and exit the locker. Once he exits the locker after using his power he will have a 3 second "Glory Period" For 3 seconds, the targeted survivor with have their aura revealed and The Boogeyman will the undetectable status effect. After the Glory period, his terror radius is only halved for 10 seconds. On the third second of his "Glory Period", the targeted survivor will receive the hindered status effect and a decrease in vault speed by 15% for 10 seconds until hit by the Boogeyman to announce his presence. If the targeted survivor is outside the 24 meters by the time you exit the locker, he will exit the locker at the speed of a survivor fast exiting, making a boom notification for all survivors and will sprint at 200% speed for 3 seconds, still able to see the targeted survivors aura.

Sub-Power- Grab speed is increased by 30% and after any grab any survivor within 24 meters has their aura shown to you for 3 seconds.

Teachable Perks:

Locker trap: Any survivor entering a locker will give the killer a boom notification and be locked in the locker for 10/15/20 seconds. Has a cooldown of 60/45/30 seconds.

Next Target: Every time you hit the obsession, every survivor's aura is shown for 5 seconds.

Hex: Crippling Terror: For every down or hook, this perk gains a token. At base, every time you hook a survivor every other survivor has a 5% chance to be crippled (Cannot do anything other then crouch and run) while also applying the hindered status effect and revealing their aura for 10 seconds. For every token, the chance of being crippled is increased by 5%. Survivors can simply avoid the effects by getting in a locker before anyone is hooked hooked. They will not know the Hex is up until they affected by the totem themselves.

Basically Locker Trap and Crippling Terror can be used together to get some locker grabs. I feel like The Boogeyman might either be Oni-level op or Demogorgon level counter able.

The trap teleportation is a little too slow. I'd make it 3.5 at the most. The glory mechanic is alright however revealing the obsessions aura might be a little unfair since there is no cooldown on his power as of now. Also having a 12 ft terror radius is very powerful and depending on how good you are with map awareness for 10 seconds you could get a lot of free hits. 200% movespeed is also way too fast that's faster than a sprint burst meaning there's no counterplay. Especially being if the obsession is greater than 24 feet hell I'd teleport as far away I can from the obssession. Or kill the obsession first to get 200% whenever I exit the locker. Or instead run dying light and save the best for last. Same with reduced vaulting speed and the cripple effect. I'd also move locker trap into his power rather than a perk. As we already have iron maiden, but being unable to escape as a perk is a nightmare and unfair to play against. Crippled effect at random is not fun, any rng status effect is never fun to play against or with. Imagine you are being chased and suffer the cripple right before you are going to vault (since I don't see vaulting as part of the mechanic) and then you get downed by the killer. That would feel very unfair. BBQ and Chili exist and offers 100% bonus bp. That's a bit hard to beat. Remember that playing a killer should just be fun as playing against it.

Crap! I forgot to mention that it's a 90 second cooldown, and its just the person closest to a locker. Not always the obsession.

And it's to make up for the 24 meters that they could have ran. His power focusses on getting first hits in. If they made it 24 meters away and are just standing still that's their problemo

90 seconds for the power overall or just the glory mechanic?

@Milkasa it's alright when you say targeted I thought you meant obsession.

The power. I thought that getting right up close to a surv and being guaranteed a hit was deserving of a cooldown like that. And that glory period only happens after using his power so both, I guess. And a pink add-on that exposed the targeted survivor that just added 30-40 seconds to the cooldown would exist.

Remember though 90 seconds is one completed generator (they take 80 seconds). Imagine 2 people doing generators at a time optimally without ruin. By the time you get to use your second power again up to 4 generators could be completed.

True, but with a single use you'll be chasing a surv within the first 10 seconds and have them downed quick as a fox if you know the map. I guess bringing it down to 60 secs would be fair.

oh wait so it down them in one hit? alright I'll have to reread and see what I missed. However remember that they of course have 3 stages. which takes more than a minute to finish. Here's a rework to make it more fair and fun to play against. Edit however you like.

No! I mean once you hit them if you can get a second hit before they start looping the hell out of you they'll be down in no time.

And isn't your version on Locker Trap just Iron Maiden?

Eh, tried to keep it close to yours that I could. Without being trapped in it. Second hits aren't always guaranteed like the first. AKA legion, Wraith, and ghostface. I'd propably change the hex as well. A little too much like devour hope. But like I said just ideas that you can use and change if you like.

And Crippling Terror is because well... People use his name to scare children into behaving. Maybe make it sorta like a Doctor mechanic? He's getting a rework at the midpatch so wouldn't really be copying.
