Ruin rework is maybe for the greater good
Do you guys remember the first time going against a ruin? I remember mine. I was prepared for that day and when I tried to hit a great skill check....I failed and the gen exploded.
Then I gen tapped
The game ended in 5 minutes because nobody could find the totem.
Ruin in ranks from 20/12 is op. The survivors don't know how to hit great skillchecks,so the game goes tremendously slow.
Now,in red ranks, you get used to ruin,sometimes you don't even notice it. So,unlike most killer mains,I think this is a healthy rework.
I posted 1-2 hours ago saying it is an end of an era,but I think that the new era that just begun will be healthier.
Yes I am sad about my main and the best slow the game down perk
BUT I think that the new ruin will also be enjoyable. Think about it with the ghostface perk thrilling tremors. Evey gen that isn't worked on will be unable to repair and will regress. Pretty neat
Surveillance,you will see all gens progression at any time.
Discordance (I believe I misspelled that) try to fix a gen with more than 2 people I dare ya
Pop,to slow the game down just a little bit
What do you guys think? I'm not enjoying the fact that ruin is getting change,but I'm not sad/surprised either. Let me know your thoughts down below

Except PoP is useless while the new Ruin is active. And to get any use out of new Ruin, you need Surveillance/Discordance. That's two perk slots gone.

New perk builds will be possible but think, survivors know how to loop taking all the game time, with that killers can't patrol

Will Pop be usable though? If a generator is already regressing you can't Pop it.

Ruin isn't going to be a staple, it'll just be a part of a build. That's healthy for the game.

'Healthy for the game' would mean they looked at gen speed, made changes, and applied them WITH new Ruin. That would be healthy. Not nerfing Ruin because of their silly emblem change and low rank survivors finding skill checks 'frustrating.'

New players with little map knowledge , yes get hosed. But those are the only players it is devastating against.
The perk was supposed to be a time since, go find the totem. Only good players should have been able to ignore the totem. Now anyone can ignore it.
If nothing else the RUIN helped newbies learn the maps, and possible spawning points. It also taught them there are other point sources out there. There are even perks to help you find totems.
This RUIN change is heavy handed, as per usual, RIP Nurse , no one wants to play you anymore.

Was gonna make a post kinda with the same conclusion but ofc don’t agree with a ruin nerf without a objective delay built in for killers.
Hopefully the devs see on the ptb how fast some games get and do whatever they can to slow the game down... I’m pretty sure great skill-checks would need to be scrapped and new gen times would need to be like 90/45/33.75/28.125. Pretty much 90 seconds solo being kind of a necessity.
I think with ruin nerfed it’s going to force the devs to fix gen speeds is why i think there will be a greater good.

I think it will affect the game in a very negative way
My guesses:
-Camping ,tunneling and maybe slugging will increase quite a bit and DS will get even more popular
-Queue times will get even worse for high rank survivors
-Red rank matches will be filled with the same killers like spirit and billy
-Most killers will be helpless against a good survivor team ( clown, leatherface etc.)
I would be totally onboard with this change if they adressed the gen times in other ways but I can't see how this is a good change right now. It just seems like catering to new survivors.

The Ruin nerf is a necessary nerf that needed to be made in order for game development to progress on generator changes in any meaningful way.

What would have been healthy for the game my friend, is making it so that RUIN was not needed at all to make the games last. Not killing the perk.

Making gen speed before nerfing ruin would be pretty dang stupid on the developers part. The ruin nerf 100% needed to come before any changes to base generator speed.

The moment they dare to speak to nerf ruin mean they don't ######### even know what happan in their game.

No hope for this game in viable future.
It would just end up to be a game with 40min waitting time and5 min game play

I'm frustrated because BHVR said "it isn't a nerf because we're also making gatekeeper easier". But the only people who care about the emblems are people going for adept and apparently Tru3talent.

I mean,I bet with that much of frustration we will see MAJOR changes next season. Imagine ruin for 30 secs of the game as a new perk (not hex as a passive)
I bet next season it's gonna have so much ######### about gens I honestly can't wait.
Also,I get the frustration,but the devs do have a point,so let them do their job and have patience. I believe that major changes are coming.

The data is clear, the game is killer sided. With Ruin nerfed the balance between killer and survivor will get much better. Maybe with Ruin gone that will change. But if that's true all the more reason to change ruin. But it makes sense to nerf ruin without a buff to killer in the current state of the game.

I would really like to believe that, but my faith in BHVR has been seriously shaken. It used to be that whenever someone complained that BHVR was survivor sided, I would just roll my eyes and keep scrolling. But now I think the 20%ers might have a point.
Either the devs know how crucial Ruin is for some killers and nerfed it anyway, or they didn't know. I don't know which is worse but it doesn't really matter. The end result is that, especially at high ranks, you're going to see a lot less of the low to mid tier killers. If they did not know how unpopular this was going to be, then quite frankly, they're stupid.

New ruin won't be used anymore. It doesn't do it's job of slowing down gens progression at all so what's the point of it? Even flippin Lullaby will do better job.

They could have made it so that grey and yellow ranks get slightly larger great skill check zones (like when using This Is Not Happening). That way Ruin is less oppressive for new players and they still get to practice hitting greats.
The Ruin changes are kinda meh.

the devs are trying to say that Ruin is great at late game but by then the totem will have already been destroyed especially with how BS some of the totem spawns are.
