This is pathetic. Quit complaining.
This is coming from a survivor struggling to stay in rank 1. Stop it. The new ruin changes are needed. Almost every game I play the killer gets 2 or more kills. But no, the killer mains are gonna complain because the devs are starting to realize the game shouldn't be balanced around the killer getting 4 kills every single game. It should be balanced around 2 kills/escaping half your games.
Gen rushing doesn't exist. The survivors are supposed to want to get the gens done as fast as possible it's our OBJECTIVE ffs. The gens already regress pretty fast if they've been kicked but with the new ruin they're going to regress automatically as if they have been kicked. It's like all generators are automatically kicked with the new ruin. Oh, and I haven't even mentioned what it's going to be like if the killer kicks the gens and ruin is up? It probably will regress as fast as one survivor's base repair speed.
TL;DR: We haven't experienced the new ruin in game yet so we shouldn't be complaining right now. Also, gen rushing doesn't exist. Survivors are supposed to want to get the gens done as fast as possible.

Not to be rude but with the way pip system is right now "struggling to stay in rank 1" translates to "belongs in rank 8". Also Gen rushing is a term typically used to complain about how quickly the gens are allowed to be done and not usually used to complain about survivor actions. It's also a term you're going to be hearing tossed around way more often.
40 -
Except the devs said the change is to help survivors hit skill checks. So who really needs to git good?

Agreed.
Agreed.
Semi agreed

If we can't slow the game down, we'll just resort using the same 3 killers over and over, or just resort to slugging and tunneling.
25 -
You try hitting greats on console.
4 -
As a killer main who uses Dying Light over Ruin... the problem isn't the Ruin nerf, but how the change avoids and ignores the reason so many players were using the perk.
Gen speeds or the ease of Survivor objectives.
The change wouldn't be such a big deal if they also said oh and also survivors have an added objective to ease the speed of matches.

Wrong!
Belgian Waffles + Pure Maple Syrup>>Chocolate
Now, Chocolate Syrup + Whipped Cream+ Belgian Waffles= Perfection

I played on switch so I think k have a good idea. Try again
3 -
The problem with that is poor developer performance. If the Devs have done their jobs properly, most of the bugs wouldn't exist and the game would be much better optimized for all platforms. You don't even need to hit great skill checks for ruin, you progress okay if you hit good skill checks as long as you stop working on the gen for 1-2 seconds.

If you're struggling to stay at Rank 1, then you shouldn't be in red ranks. First time playing survivor I got there in 2 day's - after being a killer main for 2 months prior. Where I actually had to research, practice and get better at Killer to even make it to Red Ranks. As Survivor I just copied what I've seen most of the survivors play in Red Ranks, and then safe looped to victory.
Survivor is a lot less stressful, and needs less skill to play, just learn how to loop (which is easy), and abuse safe pallets - forcing the killer to break them. Then you get 4 perks that literally ignores 4 of your mistakes off cool down. If the killer stops chasing you, jump immediately on a gen. If all 4 survivors work on gens - 2 surv per gen for 1 minute and 20 seconds combined the gates are powered.
If your doing anything less than that in red ranks as Survivor, then you shouldn't be there and are only there because it's so easy to get points and rank as survivor.

I can hit Ruin skill checks all night. I can nearly hit greats. Honestly thought I don't think Ruin needs to be changed. At the very least it should be changed to be a perk instead of a hex.

No killer wants to 4K every single game. Killers want to not have three gens pop within the first three minutes of the game because they've wound up on Rotten Fields as the Clown. Pre-nerf Ruin gives certain killers a chance because some maps are way too large and survivor-favored, and many killers have no mobility in their base kits to traverse these large maps.
You're screaming, "We're SUPPOSED to do gens! It's our OBJECTIVE!" What do you think the objective of the killer is? π€π€π€ Imagine if the killer could just kill-rush the survivors within the first 5 minutes of the game every single game with barely any mitigation. That's what it's like if certain killers don't run Ruin against high-rank survivors; gens pop like crazy before any serious pressure is exerted, unless, of course, you're playing a killer that already has high base mobility in their kits, like Nurse or Billy or Spirit.
Every survivor who cries that "gen rush doesn't exist" don't realize that, gone unmitigated, games can finish in literal minutes if survivors bumrush gens, have toolboxes, and a killer doesn't have Ruin. Is that supposed to be fun for both survivors and killers? Holding M1 for three minutes straight on a couple gens, then escaping? Ruin is being nerfed, it's still a Hex and can be destroyed within seconds of the game starting, and nothing is being done to address how fast gens can still be finished.
Remember: Survivors need to have all the ease and fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't complain when you get slugged then

"Almost every game I play the killer gets 2 or more kills. ...balanced around the killer getting 4 kills every single game. It should be balanced around 2 kills/escaping half your games."
Because they need more than two kills to pip/black pip to maintain their ranks. If killers always only get 2 kills, none of them will hit red ranks.
"Gen rushing doesn't exist."
Yes it does. People complaining about gen rushing isn't directed towards survivors, it's toward the unbalanced game design. Eighty seconds per gen sounds like a lot but taking into account several other factors (toolboxes, perks, map size, killer abilities, chase lengths)
And no, gens do not regress faster when kicked compared to the rate of survivors working on said gen. A generator regresses by 0.25 charges per second, taking 320 seconds to fully regress. That's 4 times the amount of time needed for ONE survivor to finish it.
We're all going to keep "complaining", before, during, and after the PTB, until BHVR decides to listen to us and fix the game.

What this post is meant to be: Ruin needed this rework.
What you people are making it into: lol if you are struggling to stay in rank 1 because 1 bad game can take you out of it, then you don't need to be in red ranks.
If people are holding m1 on gens and escaping easily like that then does that not mean there is something wrong with the skill of the killer?
There have been many games for me where the killer kills the team with ease. Just because you don't get quick fast and easy games doesn't mean other killer don't.

Cool! I'll bring unbreakable and tenacity. Don't wanna get tunneled? I'll bring DS. These things have a counter, some of my survivor friends just fail to realize it.
0 -
I don't think you understand I don't plan to pick anyone up waste your unbreakable someone else will be down before you pick yourself up I'm not caring about piping at this point
1 -
Preach! The changes are perfect. I am absolutely loving all this crying by Killers. It really makes my day. Please keep it up or just quit. ππ
9 -
I don't care about piping I'll just down someone else before you unbreakable or you unbreakable oh well I don't plan to hook
3 -
you're absolutely right that people should stop the bitching before they see it in game, but see that would be logical and this is a forum for dead by daylight, you can't expect them to act like decent or logical people, because they aren't.
2 -
Then maybe the devs should fix the pipping system and make it easier for killers to pip and harder to depip? You killer mains are begging for survivor nerfs when instead you should be begging for the ranking system to get fixed. But no, you guys will always take the easier path: survivor nerfs.
1 -
I hope you enjoy the floor because I'm not hooking anyone at this point it takes way too long so I'll just slug you until bleed out
8 -
Are you begging for attention or something? I don't get it. But yeah. You do you. Be a trendsetter.
3 -
You made this post I'm just saying don't complain if this picks up most games
3 -
Honestly just hit skill checks
1 -
I feel like the devs don't know what they're doing and they are running out of ideas. I think the company should hire new devs that actually plays the game from both sides of killer and survivors.

To say the speed of the game judges the skill of the killer is extremely shortsighted. The size of the map and the killer being played play a big part in success. A Clown or Trapper is going to get "gen rushed" a lot more often than a Billy or Freddy on Cow Tree. The strength of the tiles on a given map and how closely they spawn next to other tiles is a factor of success. Not being able to exert pressure on some of the largest maps in the game with some of the strongest tiles in the game as low- or no-mobility killers does not mean the killer is not skilled.
There are a lot of ways this game that can be more fairly balanced for killers, and gutting Ruin is not one of them. Again, if unmitigated, survivors consistently got 4K'd within the first 3-5 minutes of the game, there would be massive survivor outcry. But at higher tiers of play, when lower-tier killers are having games finish at 3-5 minutes from gens being popped so quickly, it's just the killer's skill because they're bad killers, not map size, killer balance, survivor perk loadout... they're just not skilled. π€ Have you watched Otzdarva or TrU3 on YouTube? Consistently high red-rank killers who showcase games where survivors turbo-rush gens if map pressure isn't exerted perfectly in the early game. They must not be skilled if they're getting rushed, hm?

I do. And when I want to take it easy I run Stakeout. Sounds like itβs you the needs to βget gudβ.
P.S. GL when survivor wait times exceed 1 hour.

The game should be balanced around the higher skilled players, as they are the role models for the lower skilled players. Because of the extremely poor scoring system, too many low skilled players have easily made their way into red ranks as survivors and can easily stay there - and now the dev's are making changes to compensate these unskilled players because their statistics are heavily skewed from this poor system. For example, this thread and OP - who shouldn't be in red ranks.
The only change Ruin needed was for it to be impossible to cleanse in the early of the game - because it wasn't too powerful, it was making the game balanced with the ridiculously high repair speed for generators. It takes most killers to cross medium to very large sized maps 50+ seconds, and it only takes 2 survivors on one gen 40 seconds to finish a gen (not including greats, items or perks). Survivors that are good at the game, understand this, and also understand that if 4 survivors work on generators (2 per generator) the gates will be powered in 1 minute and 20 seconds **OR LESS**.
This is also the entire reason that the top tier killers are all killers that are difficult to detect, and can move across the map very quickly - however against survivors that are good at the game still have an easy time against these killers, because of the over abundance of safe pallets.
Yes there are some killers with kits that make safe looping difficult, but most if not given the time to prepare (it only takes 1 minute and 20 seconds to power the gates) they don't have the time to deny these loops. Then the ones that don't have to prepare are very difficult to play and have easy counters. Not to mention they also recently nerfed the two biggest of these Killers Nurse, and Spirit.

Gen rushing doesn't exist? Yeah, yeah, tell these tales to someone else.
11 -
Why should stakeout take up a perk slot on console when it doesn't need to on PC? There's the real unbalance. Not between killers and survivors, but between console and PC.
0 -
Way to passively aggressive complain whole telling people to stop complaining.
5 -
Your data is very far fetched.
But I don't have the energy to argue about it.
0 -
Literally nowhere I did I ask for survivor nerfs.
Ranking system is busted and almost pointless. You don't get any rewards for maintaining your high ranks. The only thing it does is that it allows people with similar skill-levels to be matched together, and even that doesn't happen much cause matchmaking is so whack.
But this is about the ruin changes.
3 -
@shadowlightnign didnβt you hear? The ranks are being removed from the Scoreboard. Once that occurs, only SWF will see your rank, and only when that buggy feature works.
3 -
I'm sorry but what he was doing was pure idiocy. He picked up a survivor under a pallet when there were obviously other survivors nearby and thought he wouldn't get stunned? He also let himself get stunned with pallets several times throughout the chase, which took up time. Yeah... No. He let himself get "gen rushed" (which doesn't even exist).
1 -
Classic. "I want to argue that killers are babies and need to stop complaining, but when killer mains bring up valid counter points, I'm just going to say they don't make any sense and that I'm too lazy to refute anything thereafter." ππ
7 -
Oh no guys! I don't wanna argue anymore so therefore all my points are wrong. Welp it was a good run cya later.
0 -
He said in the video he didn't know there was another person there by the pallet, and I'm 100% sure you didn't know, either. He also got stunned once at the start, which literally shaved off a total of 1 second of his time. It took about a minute and thirty seconds for his chase, and three gens popped in that time. If you think that is fair and balanced and solely on the fault of the killer and not the game (the fault of the GAME, not the survivors), then there is literally no point in having any sort of logical conversation with you in terms of game balance whatsoever. Again, if the killer was able to consistently kill three survivors within the first two minutes of the game, you'd be a singing a completely different tune. But with gens, it's okay because the killer is just trash!

That's just it. You haven't substantiated any of your own points, and instead of doing so, you're just saying, "Yawn, I don't really FEEL like it." You've also just said, "Killer bad, no skill, git gud, survivor just do objective!" You have refuted literally zero counter points in this thread. You have responded to none of my or any others' claims of map, killer, or perk balance, gen speeds, loop balance, tile spawns, or anything else. You've just said everything falls on the skill of the killer only.
FYI, that is not the singular valid point to hinge the fulcrum of all your arguments on.

I came back to this right after having a match against a team of solo's who spent the whole game performing unsafe hooks, poor looping, and running to dangerous areas. They found ruin quickly, so I killed off the weakest survivor - letting them have it, and then soon after 1 dc's to deny me points since I was outplaying them. I decided not to slug (because the Claud that couldn't loop, and they had a DC). Then gave the last survivor the hatch. In the end game chat the Claud accused me of tunneling. Refused to blame their loss on her team performing unsafe hooks, their poor looping skills, lack of knowledge of the map, or the DC, but because I sacrificed one when I knew they didn't have borrowed time as they all knew the location of my totem - I'm apparently the bad player in red ranks.
They were all red rank.
These two scenario's are prime examples of why the game is going in the direction it is. Too many bad players have made it to red ranks, are skewing the statistic's and ultimately destroying the game. Then we have people like Widowmaker8197 in the forums, refusing to add anything to the discussion - attempting to deny truth by only saying "no".

I'm sorry but I believe I've replied to several counter points already? It's like you think I don't have a life outside of dead by daylight. I have things to do and people to see.

Thank-you Katastrophecy, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Aww look at you killer mains standing up for each other! Get a room you two.
