Already Noticing....
Killers are not using Ruin already, nearly every game in the past there was always ruin, it was rare thing that a killer didn't have it, but i mean already noticing killers are not using it....anyone else already noticing?

Yeah, at least half my games at rank 1 yesterday saw corrupt instead
1 -
yeah same, but when corrupt is on i do totems and well rummage in chests lol
4 -
I had multiple games as killer yesterday where literally no one did any gens for the first two minutes... you are not alone
4 -
I'm trying not to use it when playing killer so I'm used to playing without it when the patch comes out.
3 -
No, it's terrible on plague especially. Yes, you can puke on all 4 remaining gens, but what do you think survivors will do? They will all hide for 2 mins because they can't do any gens without getting infected. So you'll just wasting a perk slot.
2 -
Ruin was never necessary. I'm a purple rank killer and I play killers like wraith and legion without ruin all the time and still get 3-4k's. People who need ruin to slow the game for them are either getting outplayed by well-hiding survivors, chasing the same one person for too long, or not playing to their advantages

Lol so you're saying the good old "GiT gUt". I guess 80% of red rank killers are just horrible and you are a dbd god.

There is no point in hanging onto Ruin. Better start getting used to not having it right now. But its rough. There is really nothing that compares to what Ruind did. So you are even more reliant on survivors making mistakes in the early game.
New Ruin will be dead in the water, because it does not do what killers used the old Ruin for.

I only ever really ran it with Hag since it's one of her perks. I prefer tracking perks like Spies/BBQ/Discordance over regression perks. I try to stay in the green ranks though and I'm not a try hard killer, I'm playing for fun and BP

Yeah, I've noticed it as well - and to be fair I dumped Ruin from my build likewise.
And whatever, yeah I still 3k and 4k exactly as I thought I would, but guess what:
- I end up slugging much more
- Everyone gets far less BP due to slugging / camping
- Huge maps are a lottery: either the first direction I pick ends up with me finding a couple of survivors, and I stand a chance, or I pick the wrong way, and the game basically starts with only 3 generators to go.
I agree that Ruin was a bad perk, but everything I always stated remains: early game needs to be slowed down.

Im also trying out different substitutes to ruin. I also get my hooks and stuff but its different now. I used to play huntress fair n square. Yesterday I got red woods and was only able to get my hooks with a basement play. Not really fun for anyone in that match. Everytime I run corrupt they hide till it expires. So I run whispers. yayyyyy

I still get camped so I guess not

I hate guarding totems, unless I'm playing snipe doc then it's kinda the point. So I hardly ever use hex perks. While I do sometimes make errors and get steamrolled. I find myself getting much better at applying pressure myself, and controlling the map by using chase perks i.e. Brutal Strength and/or Enduring, and aura perks (BBQ and *Surveillance especially.). This way I create my own pressure, and it sticks around a lot longer than 1 totem. Not saying those that use/d it are inadequate, rather I am attempting to provide my insight to anyone who'd like to broaden their perspective. Thank you for your time, and patience. Kill you later!
* Seriously that additional 8 meters of hearing gens being repaired is like a built in whispers, AH LUVETTe!!!

So you are saying that you are using good mobility Killers so you don't need Ruin, my guess is I need to improve my mobility on Trapper and try to apply more pressure while setting my traps.

I already barely used ruin, so no change there.
But I haven't noticed anything on my survivor games either 🤷♂️

I had all ruin games. I figured they are using it until it's gone. I don't use it as I quit hex perks long ago.

It’s weird you’re purple rank and get 3-4 kills all the time but we’re almost at rank rest shouldn’t you be red by now
3 -
At least now I’m actually using ruin. Before I never really used it because of the reason that it’s unreliable and it’s also not based on me preventing the gens getting done so I only really used it for trapper plague and hag really. Sometimes GF. But now with the synergy of ruin and surveillance (a perk I actually use way more often than old ruin) it works so well not only are my ruins lasting till end game MUCH MORE but it’s really better than old ruin tbh it’s more reliable, it gives you location info, gives you easy pressure, and of course SLOWS DOWN THE GAME it’s really great when paired with surveillance, by itself sure it’s not really much better but really the reliable ness of it now is the real reason it’s better.

what I noticed yesterday was a big amount of slugging and general more camping, I think killers are trying to get used this way, can't blame them

I plan on using it with my Freddy build when it comes out but I haven't played DBD in a while

There adapting

Except when it comes to survivor who need to hit a great skillcheck, that is really too difficult.
2 -
Nope, almost every killer keeps using ruin in their buidls, that is my own experience.
0 -
I'm sorry but..purple ranks arnt even close to top tier survivors..the difference between rank two and one alone is a twenty percent higher survival rate lol..and that's both in red ranks
1 -
I find it hard to believe that people would remove a perk solely on its going to be nerfed. I expect the change to other builds after the update.
If I were to guess, either you are paying closer attention to killer builds or those that normally play with Ruin have stopped playing.

I'm paying closer attention to Ruin? You know within the first 30 seconds.

Some people probably think the Ruin nerf is already here. Poor guys.

Now I can't get a read on if you're trolling or not. If you're able to hit around 50% of greats you can easily power through ruin, adding 10ish seconds to total gen time. Or even hitting no greats, you will still do gen.
Not hitting great check on ruin slows down the gen, the punishment is not that severe. It is not uncommon to do 5 gens with ruin.

I've had a mix bag.
Red rank Survivor here, and being honest, old Ruin was either great or trash. Over 50% of my games with Ruin, I cleanse it before the killer gets their first down. Fortunately most killers now days play through it, but that didn't use to be the case.
I get it, low ranking killers can really wreak havoc against newer Survivors who can never find Ruin or even on new maps without Small Game. I ever ran it as a Rank 11-15 killer, but it's a handicap that honestly doesn't help you figure out good builds for killers, etc.
Some killers could use better mobility. Trapper is one that I still can't comprehend why he doesn't start with more or all of his traps.

Purple ranks killers generally get red rank survivors. So I think his comments have the same merit

Trust me...survivor pips way too easily
0 -
M1 all game = pro survivor. Didn't you know?
1 -
True they do, but if he is really getting 3-4 kills consistently he wouldn't still be purple... pipping at purple is easier than red.

Yeah that post of mine was just sarcasm.

So what you're saying is that killers with less skill/experience than you required Ruin to have a decent game at their level of play? Wouldn't that mean, to them, it was. . . necessary?
1 -
Yeah sorry couldn't read that one :D I've actually seen similar stance recently so I'm a bit tilted xD

Might as well practice because it's going to happen at some point. Poor kids can't hit their skill checks.

Shhh, you’re not supposed to use logic on these forums!

That's my point. I suppose I could've used quotes or smth to make it more obvious, but I was saying that it's the worse killers who think ruin is necessary. I apologize for my grammatical error not pushing the correct message
