Stake Out is essentially dead
The only thing keeping this niche perk afloat was the presence of Ruin skill checks. Now that they're gone, I don't see any reason to use Stake Out. It has a precondition to activate, and all it does it turn a good skill check into a great.
Not sure how to buff it, but it officially belongs in the bin with the likes of Deja Vu, Monstrous Shrine, and their dozens of friends.
Can we please get around to fixing the heaping pile of worthless perks? I'd rather buff the trash than nerf the few decent ones.

Maybe double the points for it... I still love that perk.. Idc about Ruin.

You don't seem to understand.
If Ruin makes it to the late game its all over. Survivors are as good as dead.

You don't seem to understand. My post is about Stake Out, not the power of Ruin. Read again please.

How is that related to this topic? Don't derail others' threads with your "woe is me, killers are dead" shtick.

A good buff would be to award double progress if you hit a great skill check when you have a token available.

Yeah, I'm off topic.

It is still somewhat useful, but.. yea not that good. As well as helping progress through heals and repairing faster (presuming you don't hit the great skill checks) it gives you the benefit of more points for getting those 'great' skill checks.
It can also be used as a budget spinechill. It instantly activates as soon as you're in the killers TR, so can be an early warning that the killer is coming.
But yeah.. it's not a great perk.

Agreed, you are.

Was it ever alive? I only used this perk to switch things up, not because it was good. That's a luxury you have on survivor, you can just use "whatever" and usually be ok.

I don't understand how.
OP says Stake Out is dead because it was only useful to find Ruin to avoid the skill checks. I only pointed out the perk is still useful in finding the totem early before it becomes an issue later.

No problem. I just saw this thread getting derailed for no reason.

I think you're mixing Small Game and Stake Out...
