Freddy, is he in a healthy spot?

I wanted to hear from the community and see what you guys and gals think about him?

My opinion: I use to main freddy after the rework and found playing as him a lot of fun. But after awhile I got bored of him.

I think so. You can even get to choose between snares and fake pallets if you are looking for something different. If you are bored why not try different killers? Ghostface is good.

    Hes perfect.

He got nerfed 1 week after release and took over a year to fix him

The cry children won that one

i agree about the ropes nerf bit to harsh but other than that hes a strong killer one of the better killers to use in high rank if you cant play spirit or billy well

Very fun to play as, not fun to play against imo. I have nothing against his snares, but I dislike going against him with fake pallets. 10 fake pallets is just too many.

I think he's in a good place though. After 1 year of being a joke, he deserves the spotlight he's gotten.

i actually think playing him is boring, but against him is fun, it's nice to worry about something else besides gens, you have to run around getting alarms to wake yourself up, but everytime time i play as freddy survivors tend to be immersed and games last too long, also he kills my frames

Freddy is a decent killer, but BVHR didn't really do anything super creative with him. For a reality warper he has some very, very, VERY basic abilities. At least he's playable, I suppose. I would've preferred it if they had preserved his old playstyle and just buffed that into top tier.

His slowdown add-ons make him a bit unfun to play against for some survivors, I personally consider him to be in a great spot right now, pretty strong but still manageable to play against.

I think he's perfect. He's one of the stronger killers. And they removed his ability to gain bloodlust if you are placing snares, being asleep doesn't have much downsides outside of chase, so he's not annoying because waking up is a must .

He's one of the more balanced killers right now. Not super strong, but you don't feel useless playing as him. And some super fun mindgames with him but faking your teleport. I always love the fakeout teleport in the middle of a chase and seeing a notification on a gen meaning they messed it up

I'm just curious why they decided he needed huge map presence, the ability to shut down loops, and stealth abilities all rolled into one killer. Surprised they didn't let him blink/vault pallets while they were at it. Why one killer gets every tool is baffling. He essentially invalidates the majority of the killers.

He doesn't really feel unique anymore, but as far as strength I think he's in a good spot.

The new ruin should work really well with him if you use surveillance with it.

He's good. Strong but beatable. I'm sad swing chains ended up on the pile of useless addons but people wouldn't stop using that stupidly ott slowdown build

Extremely boring to play against. I despise playing against Freddy. It’s overall never a good experience. Just a snooze fest, pun intended.

I haven’t played as Freddy since his rework so I don’t really have an opinion other than what I’ve seen other players do. He’s strong.

Even though I hate playing against him, he doesn’t need changes. Overall he’s in a good place. Just not gonna be the most pleasant killer to play against.

can you blame them/me especially when gens are so fast but yeah nerf was a bit to much a slight buff to them but will say due say the nerf i have stopped the two ropes gone with red paint brush and swing chains with the build of thant, corrupt, thrilling and discordance had a few people say it was tough but not boring especially when i zip all over the gens lol

    Aneurysm Member Posts: 5,270

I don't blame Freddy players for using the slowdown, I blame them for using it too much so it got nerfed and I can't use it at all lmao

  • GeordieKiller

i use it alot i rate it 2nd might be first if ruin changes goes live lol i find its a good early game slowdown and gives you time to get your teleport up and running.

  • GeordieKiller
    GeordieKiller Member Posts: 413

lol sorry our bad but i do reccomend that build i use find it good to use you can switch thant for pgtw i find to make it work you have to be bouncing around gens and keep them in the dream world also if you down someone but two people are gens pretend to teleport to them cancel it then pick up survivor boom gen blocked 16 seconds enough time to hook and head there to see if they are still there.

I think Freddy is in a really good spot

His addons are a bit boring but at his core he is really well designed

Being able to create pressure and punishes survivors who don't make the effort to wake up by become very strong in chases

@ADirtyNea Nice I've been running ruin + pgtw which i guess is a bit overkill. Sloppy and MYC.. are these your 2 must haves for red ranks or just personal favorites in general? Both are great i admit.

@GeordieKiller Do you happen to run discordance along with CI? I would think that combo would be very effective at start.

Now, with Ruin getting nerfed, I think he'll be in aperfect spot. I could maybe have seen him being a bit too strong with Ruin, but without, his map pressure and chase potential is exactly what any killer needs to combat gen speed.

Freddy is in a good spot, he’s everything I should expect out of a killer power. Chase potential, Map presence & Potential to juggle all 4 survivors. The devs could’ve done something differently with the add-on nerf, but if the survivors have to put any effort & skill into winning it’s not fun :(

hes in a good place, just kinda boring to face.

and a lot of the time the dream world makes me extremely dizzy when playing survivor, which sucks a lot

He is for now and thats because survivors dont complain about him too much. Once they start complaining then the devs will decide he is not in a healthy spot.

I love playing Pallet Freddy. One of my favorite Killers in the game. It’s so satisfying to get a hit because a Survivor dropped a fake pallet. I’ve actually never played as Snare Freddy because I have so much fun with the pallets. I use Ruin, BBQ, Surveillance, and PGTW along with Red Paint Brush and Paint Thinner.

Balance-wise, he’s pretty high on the tier lists. His teleport gives him good map pressure and you can go for slowdown with the snares or trick the Survivors with the pallets. However, there’s a chance that he could be nerfed if enough low rank Survivors complain again.

Freddy is fine, and also viable.

He has good map pressure, and snares, and dream pallets. He's strong, but not too strong. I think he's perfectly fine where he's at.

    No nerfs. Seriously.

He seems to be in a OK place, but holy crap is he the most boring killer to play against. Every time I load into a Freddy game I just wanna DC instead of dealing with the immense boredom to come. You also shouldn't be automatically thrown into the dream world. You should only be put into the dream world if he hits you.

I think he needs a nerf honestly, his kill ratio says it all. He's got far too much going on as a killer within the game and needs to be brought down to where other killers currently are. Using the argument, "He was a meme before so leave him be!" isn't very good. I would imagine the developers will do something about the fallout from Ruin, but Freddy is far too easy to play and do well as so he should be brought down a bit.

Surprisingly a well balanced Killer - not too strong that you can't counter him, but difficult enough to play as and against that if you are skilled enough it's fair for both sides. The fact that all of his abilities have notifications and timers creates a lot of chance for mind games.

However proven with the recent nerf's I doubt we will get to keep many balanced killers for long - the dev's even thought that the issue with Freddy was his slow down add ons, but that build was easily countered by good players and was terribly weak overall. His strength is in his anti-loop, and pressure with having a teleport. I am sure when survivor mains cry more he will be nerfed again.

Freddy is just the definition of a strong killer now. Very easy to pick up and play, not many weaknesses, strong abilities, good map pressure... he's in a decent spot in my opinion. I play him sometimes and feel comfortable not running Ruin or slowdown perks on him, and the games are pretty relaxed and fun and I feel like I actually have pressure as a killer for once.
