But it basically comes down to "we wanted to seem like we're reducing the grind, but instead we're going to add a charge every 50 levels on every character that gives you NOTHING AT ALL. Oh! And although the game has never done this before, you're required to do it to progress your character."

Literally all they need to do is allow you to enter a KYF alone. That would allow you to test killer powers (i.e. Nurse blinks, Huntress hatchets).
