Because Low settings also have lower quality AA and looks worse. Btw people said you can tweak the ini files and disable it as usual so quit whining...1 -

Mostly for performance reasons, the old AA methods like MSAA were very expensive and unoptimized for GPUs of the time. Nah you are over exaggerating...1 -
