Maybe go see what it looks like yourself ingame. Steve hides the key better than any survivor by a long shot, it's literally in his hip for 90% of his idle animation.1 -

It's gotta be close. You can only see it if he is moving his hand to scratch his head. And i'm not complaining, the really tryhard survivors just equip the key at 6 seconds anyways.1 -

This is pretty common unless you have corrupt intervention. But even then, depending on the map and RNG it might only buy you another 30~ seconds or so before all 4 survivors find a gen; which is why…4
