They did it to remove the situation where hooks can be broken in a way that creates a dead zone a killer can't hook in, requiring them to do a bleedout slug or let the remaining survivors go.3 -

The chat filter is what happens when you let ai handle things instead of making and updating a proper filter. It's bad and should be changed.2
