People intentionally derank for easier games. BHVR has featured streamers called "fog travelers" who do this even and in turn normalize the behaviour. Rank is fairly meaningless due to this.1 -

It was fixed for awhile on ps4 for awhile. Now you don't get BP again Dedicated servers are around the corner though which will fix it.1 -
