That would be an option if the timer was longer. It takes about 15 seconds for the killer to travel between the gates. You can only make minimal progress to the gate and then you have to hide again.1 -

Bad argument. Just because I can't avoid the endgame every game, doesn't mean escaping it should be impossible. That'd be bad game balance.3 -
