VERY late reply but I'd imagine it'd be to block out more natural light for the survivors, to make it harder for them to see. That's my guess though2 -

Yeah, MMR is broken and doesn't work like at all. Plus killers are deterred from playing killer because of issues like gen speeds, so not finding many killers is another factor1
