They did tell us they will be rolling out hidden matchmaking a while ago. Ranks are just for your viewing pleasure and have nothing to do with actually matchmaking.1 -

From what I saw their game are either against very bad survivors where game can end very quickly, average survivors where game is ending with almost all gens done or some escapes as they can hold m1 …3 -
