Should we report Hook-tech?
Is this "Abusing bugs or errors in design to gain a competitive advantage?"
The "counter" of face-camping doesn't work as survivors never sit there long enough for the hooked person to hit struggle, meanwhile two survivors can get half a gen done each.

No as it is a known issue being worked on already.
2 -
I didn't know that made a difference. Are only unknown exploits reportable?
5 -
It won’t do anything if you report it.
Better to Tunnel the person they unhook to get them out of the game faster. Maybe the “tech” user would think twice about using it if every killer kept tunneling.
1 -
Pretty much yes. Unless its stated to be a bannable exploit.
When known non bannable exploits are reported it won't speed up the process for a fix but it will clog up the system taking them longer to get to the bannable issues.
6 -
Stare at the hook, two survivors not doing anything. Possibly more if the others come for the save as well.
6 -
Or if you have bubba raise your chainsaw and camp them both plus the potential third rescuer.
They think they are smart by cheating, let them pay the consequences of their foolish behaviour
4 -
Bro it's so easy to counter, I actually like it when survivors do this cuz it gives me a free hit or hook. It's good against new players
4 -
NO
Hook tech is not a bug, its called "tech" for a reason.
It exists mostly because Animation Enhancement alters your animation to hit the hooked body instead of the survivior, at least from my observation and understanding and I dont think devs ever explained this personally.
So no, its not banable, its probably not even a glitch, but a very bad feature.
3 -
I think perhaps if they sit there for too long the best tactic is to let them run off and make sure the hooked person hits struggle. I find there is usually a 3rd person ready to do the rescue if I chase the hook-techer.

Just sit on the side of the hook, at hit the survivor, people cry over everything these days.
1 -
The devs stated it's a bug and they are working on a fix.
8 -
I don't think so. The devs prefer to just fix these issues instead of fixing them and punishing the players abusing them.
Then those Survivors aren't positioning themselves correctly. If they're out of position, then of course you'll be able to hit them.
0 -
Why are you complaining about this? You can still hit them. It's one of the dumbest stunts I've ever seen survivors try to pull. If you feel like you're incapable of standing to the side of the hook and pressing M1, just stand there and wait.
3 -
I know they said that, but its not exactly like that. Survivior hitboxes are fine, its just that killers attack "curves" to hit the hooked body. And that "curving" is not a bug, its a feature. Except it shouldnt work on hooked bodies. There might be also another bug I dont know about, but thats what I have seen and tested.

This doesn't work if the survivor, wait for it, moves to the other side and doesn't screw it up because you'll hit the person on the hook if they do it right. You're literally invulnerable if you're not a potato. Standing there and waiting is the right counter for it though
2 -
Why NOT report it is a better question
0 -
This isn't considered an exploit?
7 -
So Im lost on hook tech what is it exactly?
1 -
whenever this happens to me, i just stare at the hook until the survivor dies/goes struggle or the other survivor saves him. works everytime
7 -
Then stand there then. Let them risk the life of survivor on the hook.
1 -
It's fun when people try it while your playing doctor because you can just keep zapping them to prevent them from unhooking
0 -
What if... wait for it, you then move to the other side. Crazy I know.
3 -
And then they move to the other side. It’ll keep going on and on until the hooked Survivor dies.
3 -
Still a win-win situation I guess.
I don't know why people think hook tech makes the survivors INVINCIBLE, it doesn't.
I've literally never been successfully hook tech'd as a killer because I know I just need to bait them to one side for the hit. THEY. ARE. NOT. INVINCIBLE.
1 -
If history has shown us anything, it's that survivor exploits are never dealt with accordinly.
Legion bug = people were banned over it.
Wake up bug = nothing.
10 -
I guess we're going to forget that Survivors got banned for doing this on Swamp.
4 -
Can you clarify what I'm seeing in that picture? It literally explains nothing.
1 -
Survivors were able to stand under the hole at the Swamp ship and the killer would just be stuck on top of them for the whole match.
0 -
Ahhh yes. I remember that now. To be fair, that was a different time, and could actually prevent a game from finishing. The Legion thing (while terrible, I'm not condoning it) was just extremely OP and annoying (which was BHVR's own fault), and wasn't really a bug because it was literally coded to do what it was doing. It didn't really prevent a game from finishing. It just prevented survivors from being able to do a lot. Neither are good, but one takes the game hostage and was a bug. The other doesn't and was an oversight. People were even retroactively banned for the legion thing for doing it even before it was said to be bannable.
3 -
I mean at the end of the day, any bug is just an oversight.
I don't think they handed out perma bans for the Legion thing at the very least, but not 100% sure of that.
They are definitely selective when it comes to which bugs are ban-worthy, but Killers generally have more of the game-breaking stuff I think.
0 -
No no, people were actually banned for the Legion bug. There was even a notice posted in game as an announcement saying it was bannable.
My point was, i guess, that Legion wasn't any more game breaking than the Wake-Up bug. Yet...the devs didn't punish the people who all of a sudden started running this non meta perk when the bug was happening.
4 -
Banned, but was it a temp ban or a perma ban?
0 -
I don't know about everyone, but I know one person who was permanently banned for it.
0 -
That's literally holding the game hostage so of course they were banned
1 -
And?
0 -
I think what he's saying is, Legion and Wake-up bugs didn't actually take the game hostage. It was still possible for either side to complete the game.
1 -
I seriously can't believe people complain about this.
Just sit there and face camp the guy. You have 2 survivors not doing gens. You're not getting punished for sitting near the hook. Don't be a bot and try to hit the guy.
1 -
Unless you're Oni with your power. Then definitely hit the guy.
1 -
Huntress and Bubba can do something about it too, but it's still better to just stand there and wait.
0 -
They can, but it's not consistent. Oni does it, 100% of the time, without fail.
0 -
So the point was the legion bug was just as much an exploit as the hook bug because if done properly even bubba's chain saw cant hit through , the difference is how the devs treat it
2 -
Its the two guys that ARE doing the gens that are the problem.
0 -
Wouldn't it be more effective to tunnel the one that used the exploit instead of punishing the person that didn't do anything?
0 -
Hook Tech is not a bug. Its not an exploit. Its called a tech for a reason. Its using the hooked survivor to body block hits from the killer. To think this is an exploit just shows how scrub of a killer you are. Its literally a technique to avoid hits from the killer. when survivors aren't hooked they body block also to prevent other survivors from getting hit. Same principal. How does it suddenly change just because they are hooked. They shouldn't have made hooked survivorrs hittable in the first place I guess. No more hitting survivors when you initially hook them to stop them from screaming. Don't know why people even do this but hey.... HOOK TECH.... Its a technique. Get over it. Stop getting mad at skillful survivors for learning how to counter your stupid face camping and tunneling.
1 -
Yeah cuz two things on the same place same time is logic lmfao
0 -
Using hook-tech is "skillful" now is it? Good to know.
2 -
It's not a win-win situation at all.
These discussions would be so much better if the people had at least some basic knowledge about the game.
Hint: Killers "Chaser" Emblem. Rings a bell?
1 -
This is such a non-issue lol. Literally you have a minimum of 2 people doing nothing when this happens and when they eventually make a move, it's a guaranteed hook unless you're bad
1 -
That's because the Legion bug held the game hostage. Literally forced you to endlessly hold M1 until the killer came to collect you. Seriously, you can't see the difference?
Oh, and I remember survivors getting banned for the bug that allowed them to land on the top of the gen light on McMillan. The killer could not hit them there. I believe both N00b3 and Monto got banned for that one. So calm your hurt feelings.
