Dead by daylight slowly dying?

Is it me or does anyone feel like dead by daylight is dying slowly. I mean why do I say that. Hear me out I had a discussion with one of my best buds. And he said “I think DBD is dying cause the constant nerfing. And every new killer that comes out some survivors complain that the killer is just too strong when the killer isn’t even that strong at all.” And so on. I don’t know to be honest but the game is slowly dying just because of hackers and cheaters. I mean another thing why I say it’s dying, it just because some survivors will constantly harassed the killer by doing his/her job. And sometimes the killer will harass the survivors as well. But as a community do you all think there should be a stop to cheaters on DBD. And there should be punishment system for constant harassment/cheaters. What you all think?

The "This game is dying" is such a meme.I feel like so many people are claiming that this or that game is dying.

Dead by Daylight isn't even close to dying.Especially because there is pretty much no game that offers you a similiar experience like DbD.

    Long text alert!!!

I've found myself playing less and less of this cause of the troubles. Both survivor and killer I'll probably play 2 or 3 games. 1 if it is just stupidly toxic. Then I wont play for another 2 or 3 days.

What is considered toxic playing survivor: To me if I loop a killer around for a minute or two (without strong god loops) cause they made poor decisions and I capitalise. The last thing I want is to get camped and tunnelled cause I did my job. DS does nothing as they just slug and walk off looking for others. Got borrowed of hook and killer literally waited 20 seconds on me just to snack down. Like i get it, killer needs kills, survivors must survive. But these mechanics of certain spots make this bad play easy for killer is bad. Brings no fun or enjoyment. Nodding when they have hooked you or hitting you on hook because you have looped them because of their fault. Then they text afterwards saying sweaty toxic swf pressing 1 button on strong loops when I'm solo. 🤣

Playing killer: I'll chew through BT and DS if I need to, best get them out early rather get screwed gate stage. Sometimes I'll slug knowing two others are nearby to bait and if unbreakable is used, I'm nearby for it to not matter anyway. I only tunnel if unhooked right in front of me but I wont hook to give a fair ######### at them getting to do something. I try play as fair as possible, no NOED, Rancor, ebony mori. Like I hate using mori's. It's boring for me. But all I get is gg ez, teabags for missing or pallated and bagged. Survivors spinning like a spastic in one spot. I even had an object of obsession bag me through aura reading 🤣

So yeah, this game died long ago. Giving nerds and buffs to things not needed. Bad mechanics, bad glitches. And the community if all is just toxic. I tried farming several games for experiment and all they did was teabags and try farm me. I've then faced killers that pretend to farm all game as the likes of bubba and then when gates are up he'll then knock you down then find out he has blood warden, noed, rancor. Its scummy. I regretted buying Woody(Deathslinger), Plague, Oni, Legion. Even though I play them. I'm not wasting anything on this game anymore.

If you think cheaters are bad now, you'd have loved to see the first few years of DbD.

I haven't actually met many speedhackers, but they were all before the anti-cheat got some huge-ass updates.

Also, with the recent pandemic being a thing, DbD's average has risen by like 10k.

I remember 12k being the average, now i see ~22k.

Nah its not dying people are just too busy complaining like always, after the 3.7.0 update im likely to play the game more often and for longer. its gonna sort out god loops which made killer boring on alot of maps and it will also fix every survivor hitting red ranks (maybe i can hope) either way its all good improvements that are needed and fair tbh, the last few changes id personally like are DC bans (xbox dont have it yet) rework on DS/BT just so they aint so powerful when a full team has them, i feel they need more requirements to activate instead of giving free safe unhooks etc. and then a mori nerf so you have to either wait X seconds after theyre unhooked or be on third hook and provide bonus BP to the killer etc. hell even make ds counter moris just shorten the timer so its actually an anti tunnel perk not a unhookable survivor for 60seconds

PC gaming is dying, remember that?

All I can say is that about 2 years ago we had about 18000 players in the steam stats, currently its sitting doubled at 36000 so yeah stats do not agree.

Unless there's a matchmaking bug with dedicated servers, it's definitely dying on console. It's taking far too long to load into a lobby as survivor. No MP game should take upwards of 10 minutes to find a lobby on PS4. When it used to be almost instant. Balancing aside, that is not sustainable in the long term. Killer takes 3 seconds, but there's a good chance you're getting matched against low rank survivors due to the matchmaking issues and that's not fun either if you're new to the game.

I was sold on the "season pass" and now question the value or the time to grind since it takes forever to play a game. That needs to be fixed immediately. I really think it's the location of the servers too. When they disabled dedicated servers on Xbox recently finding lobbies was much faster w/ PVP now it takes longer, but not as long as PS4 where the game was free for a month and home to over 100 million players.

PC is hit or miss, mostly hit, when it comes to finding lobbies fast. I really have no issues there and if console does die, I still have PC.

All that aside, the main problems with the game are balancing SWF w/ solo players and rank based matchmaking. It's all over the place. I find myself playing SWF over solo now and we are OP as a team. Also, and despite the long wait times, we are being matched with players at much higher ranks (more then usual) and those poor killers are easily destroyed. Even the campers. I can't imagine they'll want to continue playing much longer after that. Which is probably why there are more survivors then killers on PS4.

The fact this game still works is astounding as from a MP perspective this game is a mess. I get they need to keep the revenue coming in and why they focus on adding new content, but if they don't fix the core problems with the game, the other platforms will die completely. The only thing they have going for them in all of this is no one has stepped up to compete directly with them.

It's not dying, it's just that player retention is low. Once you reach a certain level there's nothing more to do and it gets old and boring. You see a lot of players who are doing the complaining are those in the higher ranks and are higher skilled complaining that the game isn't balanced as when you reach a certain level, personal competition is what keeps you playing. This is the reason why a 22 year old game, starcraft: brood war, is still actively played by tens of thousands of people worldwide.
