Are we old gen console users being abandoned?
so dbd is coming to next gen consoles and will receive regular updates but does that mean that current gen console users are going to be left behind? will we not get any updates? will we never get the optimisation we were promised two years ago?
because devs i don't know if you know this but not everyone has the money to buy a brand new console day 1 just to play your game, some of us have to wait 3-4 years for the price to drop low enough for us to afford it without making us financially unstable.
please we just want confirmation that we are not forgotten and not a copy paste response like "we have notified the team and will look into it"

More than likely.

Friend, for two years they have ignored the problems of us console players, with the new console they will ignore even more the users of the old generation. For my part they currently have zero trust, there is no such thing as to have what we were promised we have to pay 500-600 euros / dollars of console

Yes, of course, as the famous 60 fps promised in a patch by the end of 2018 magically became a console pass and for 2 years they got worse and worse. Ah well if they said they will not abandon the old consoles it will be 100% true :3

ok? Do you have proof they aren't actively working on framerate issues orrrrr?

At my house we are at the end of 2020 and in 2 years things have got worse. But you have proof that 100% do not abandon the old consoles, huh?
4 -
I think the the proof is that it's steadily gotten worse over the last couple years instead of better. Not one update has made it better

I mean - there's the screenshot buddy, them not improving something doesn't mean they aren't trying to work on it?

They're making progression saved from old consoles to new consoles so YOU don't abandon them.
1 -
I mean everytime they improve console performance it messes the game up some other way. I don't think the mega optimization patch will fix everything and some major issues with still persist after that.
1 -
But they did not mention which year 😂
3 -
2 YEARS. REALLY? You think they are working on it when it's been 2 YEARS?
Either they lied or they are incredibly incompetent. You pick which is worse.

watch the date of the screenshot.
It's from TWO YEARS AGO. The "December" in the tweet was December 2018. We are in 2020, in case you forgot.
Probably what happened is that they were extremely sure to have pinpoint what the problem was, they updated the engine and switched to an event system but... surprise surprise, the fps gains were just not there (well, there was a slight improvement during 2019 to be honest)
In the meanwhile, though, new killers, new effects, new maps and new cosmetics came along, and we went back to square 1 (actually, to square minus 2, since we not only lost every optimisation from 2019, but the game just runs worse than before that time)

Speaking purely from personal experience, I had frame rate issues when I still had an older 2.5 Mbps DSL connection. I upgraded my internet to 1GB up/1 GB down, and have not had any frame rate issues since. When I play killer, everything is flawless. I still see dips occasionally when I play survivor (simply because hits rely so much on the killer's connection.) FWIW this is on both an original Switch and a Day 1 PS4.
Moral of this story, it's not always the game. Sometimes it's your connection that's to blame.

You will get new content and any graphical changes, bot zero optimization.

Here's the big ol' FU we were all expecting. Shell out for a new console, ya scrubs! We can't fix our game! Cross progression between the remaining consoles and PC better come soon, because I'm not buying consoles anymore and I'm also not gonna play this game at 10FPS (and that's being generous for killer) on my PS4 anymore.
You want my money? Fix FPS for CURRENT gen, or fast track getting cross progression on all platforms.
4 -
I'm sure they do something but I'm getting ps5 day 1 if I can but not everyone going to be able to do that,so it fix it or lose a lot player meaning lose a lot of money they could of gotten.

As has been stated, all platforms will continue to be supported. With regard to the pinned message on the forums, I think it's going to be inevitable that the next gens are going to have improved graphics over the current gen, same as new gpu's on PC's.

@MandyTalk is there any update on console optimization please?
1 -
Folks aren’t talking about graphics lol. Why do these devs/mods not understand this. We want the game to function properly.
5 -
If theyve been working on it for 2 years and still are this is an entirely different cinversation. Its better if they just did nothing. I can tell you cinfidently that absolutely nothing has changed in 2 years when it comes to frame rate issues on xbox. Nothing. At all.

Yes.

Now we wait...

I don't have any information I'm afraid.

I wasn't shocked when they announced that the next-gen consoles would receive the 'better' graphics because let's face it. Current-gen ain't getting them anytime soon. But like hell am I forking out £500 for a PS5 just so I can play with 'improved' graphics when they SHOULD be fixing the current version that we've supported for the last 4 years.
2 -
Can you read the date on that screenshot? Asking for a friend
2 -
When did they say current gen wasnt getting the graphic update? Can’t have crossplay if there are 2 different maps lol
1 -
Can you provide proof that they aren't trying to better the frame rate besides a screenshot which does not indicate that they have stopped trying? Asking for a friend.
1 -
I get better performance and framerate on my 5 year old laptop which doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. I think the console versions of DBD are simply bad ports from the PC version. BHVR probably only released the game on consoles for a quick cash in...

Proof? Proof is in the pudding. Two years, not a word about since. Actively avoided on these forums and if you go to their streams. Go read through posts reporting frame drop issues to see responses like “oh, see, this is what we need! I’ll let the team know!” To “sloppy causes frame drops”, aka, issues that have been present since the game came out on console.
Also, you would fail a logics class. This is a classic “argument from ignorance.” “The devs said they were working on optimization two years ago and would arrive in a December patch. The patch never arrived. But you can’t prove that they’re not still working on it. Therefore, they are still working on it”
thanks for trying though

This announcement is just future proofing. The questions were out there and they answered them.
As for getting current systems working, it's figuring out where the leaks are. Honestly the whole dynamic hook placement thing is probably the issue. They should retire hook offerings like they did moonlight offerings.
