why the difference in update size?
Xbox is a little over 10gb but steam is just under 9gb? seems a little strange that there is this much difference in the size

It has to do with the way updates are handled on different platforms. To keep it simple, files are combined into packages and those packages are downloaded and swapped out when you update part of them. Some platforms have bigger packages than others due to the way they handle updates.
We do what we can to keep the size down, but when we update a lot of assets like this, it's not unusual for the size of the updates to be larger. With a larger update, the difference in sizes between the different platforms becomes a little more noticeable.

Thanks for the explanation. I was a little worried that there are fundamental differences in the code/assets or that a branch might have been missing content

Im curious, why is the update so large this time in general? Previous DLCs had like 2-4 GB size but this one is over 8 GB on steam. Realy huge

Ehi! Do consider that this update includes graphic remakes for some animations, assets and some maps too. So it is normal for it to be bigger than the usual. You can see in the patch notes what has been remade/improved graphically speaking! 👍️

The size of this update is really high, but It's just because of the graphical update I'm sure.

Is this a one time thing or will every DLC update be this big in the future?

Which console/system has the biggest packages?

It can definitely happen again if other assets/maps get updated in the future. This is also what happens usually when games go under graphical upgrade.
