Title, I wanna start playing more killer after 1k hours of almost nothing but Survivor. And want a fresh account to start off. However I was told its against the rules, Is this true? I'm a low rank killer(Green)

what you'd be doing isn't considered smurfing imo. go ahead

You can create as many Steam Accounts as you want and buy the game over and over again if that is your desire. "Smurfing" is generally defined as being a potent Ranked Survivor(s) purposely teaming up with much weaker Survivors so that you can pull a weaker Killer and take full advantage of the fact they don't know anything yet.
What you are doing is something different, albeit no less questionable ethically. It is a rather expensive way of sandbagging yourself, i.e. throwing matches so you can lose Pips back down into weaker Ranks. You are paying to shortcut, so you can play against people you already outclass by the benefit of your knowledge and experience.
Is it against the rules? No. Should it be? Probably. Could it be enforced it was against the rules? Probably not. In the end, you will have to ask yourself if your successes will mean anything at all when you are effectively playing Dodgeball against 3rd Graders.

If you haven't played killer, your killer rank will reflect that in your main account. Not sure why you'd need a new account to play killer in that case.

Kinda weird you're buying the game again just to play killer when you can do that on your main account but hey its your money and no it's not bannable.
Also was not even aware there was some kind of rules for smurfing with the stuff I see on matchmaking lol

It’s not.

It's not bannable in fact it's more common on console because only one user on the system has to buy the game and you can create as many users as you want, as long as the name that bought the game is the primary account on the Xbox or PS then anyone can use it , steam users would have to rebuy the game for every name they make

Not true, you can use family sharing (I think that’s what it’s called) to share a game with another Steam account. The base game and all DLCs purchased through Steam will be unlocked.

You can use family sharing or even buy the game again - this is not bannable.

Well I wasn't aware of that because I don't have a smurf account or even another user on my pc just solely mine lol

Yeah I don’t think a lot of people know it. I share games with my partner sometimes which is how I know. :)

Smurfing is not bannable. And what you're describing is not even smurfing and not bannable as well.

Its not bannable, but it's a bit tacky.
You can play and learn at your own ranks, just don't sweat the pips. Plus at least you get to keep the bloodpoints, shards and rift progress you make on your main account.
If you do, you will probably just find full swf smurf squads anyway.

lmao you dont even need to buy the game again just link both accounts and you get to play the game with all your dlc

Well that is unfortunate for all the newbies. It would have been better had this topic never been discussed or posted here. Now we will have more people doing it. :(

Smurfing is totally fine. I got like 10 accounts w about 8 copies of the game across PS4, Xbox, PC. Spent over $1000 on this game.
No one banned me yet.

Honestly it's better for the game even though that may be hard to believe , ranks don't matter and people need to get thrown in and learn how to swim instead of developing bad habits against not so good players and having to relearn how to do something, it's like they always say it's better to be trained fresh instead of having to untrain bad habits
