Wearing the Charm in Solidarity
As a heterosexual Christian man I am here on wearing the pride charm for every game until DBD is shut down. God bless all you wonderful people, and shame on those that bully others.
Evil persists when good people do not act. May I get tunneled every game in your stead.

Or play Killer and mori people with your pride charm in the back. :D
I planned on sparing pride charm Survivors and found 0 in my trio of matches tonight. So instead people got a autograph.

I know DBD is just a game, but the implementation of the Pride charm means a lot to me and every Hook and Survivor will carry it with me.
When I came out almost 30 years ago, my mother wanted to send me to a doctor to get better. People who were my friends didn't want anything to do with me anymore and the thing that really scares me is that today I still can't tell everyone at work, for example, that I am legitimately married to a woman because they are such a homophobic kind of person that I don't even know how to deal with it.
Humanity should have other things to worry about than judging people who live differently than they do.
They are just pixels, but I will wear them with pride. :)

Thank you for sharing. Lots of love from me to you. Wear those colors loud and proud.

Okay.

I already know you'll catch a lot of ######### for this post, but as someone who grew up around a bunch of homophobic abusive Christians? It does mean a lot to read this. Keep being you dude, we need more positivity and respect in the world.

Greatly appreciate this, and if I see you getting tunneled I will do my best to take protection hits for you.

As a heterosexual (or according to @GoodBoyKaru bi sexual) man I fully agree with you. Even when I'm not Christian (I probably catch fire if I enter a church).
Even when I still have concerns about the reports that could arise with this.
I support this and hope that we as a community can grow a little.

See this is were im confused so any input is most welcome, also please excuse my ignorance if any.
Im a straight male (i do enjoy some Barry Manilow though so maybe not) with a brother in law and sister in law both gay. During Pride month i like to show support so put the Pride flag on my social media accounts. Ok.
Last year numerous gay people messaged me asking if i was gay, when i said no they told me i shouldnt be dispaying the Pride flag then as they use it to easily find other gay people so i thought ok never knew that and removed it.
I also know a streamer who had the Pride flag on screen (very small) showing support but was also contacted and told similar to what i was told and he also then removed it.
So can i ask what is the correct answer. Can straight Barry Manilow loving males show support by displaying the Pride flag or is it frowned upon.
Again please excuse any ignorance or outdated language i may have used, i wasnt educated very well.

The pride flag is not exclusive for gay people. It’s also for any LGBTQ+ people and others that support it! So those that seek out other gay people with the flag were in the wrong here.
You and the streamer did nothing wrong at all and you should show the pride flag if you want to show your support! That’s what it’s all about.
12 -
Actually, further thinking about it, what those people did to you and the streamer was pretty harmful for the LGBTQ+ community. They are drawing a bad picture of gay people and are part of the reason why people are against the community even though they may not be entirely against people being LGBTQ+..

See this is was my feelings, i thought displaying the Pride symbol was for anyone to show support but as ive said im not very well educated on the subject so removed it instantly when asked as i didnt want to cause offence to anyone. Thanks for your response though.

There is no “correct answer”, unfortunately. Some people will agree with you using the flag to show solidarity, and some will think you shouldn’t use it if you’re not LGBT. It’s all a matter of opinion, different people will see it differently. All you can do is be respectful and supportive (which you obviously are) and you’ll be fine.

I love your post, I really do ❤️

I've been hit on by several gay guys throughout my life. It doesn't bother me, I find it flattering. I'm fine with them being gay and thinking that I'm cute as long as they're fine with learning that I'm straight and not interested. I know that's not the case for every hetero person and I find that sad. In my opinion unless your confidence in your masculinity is really fragile there's no reason to be upset because a gay guy finds you attractive (not YOU, I mean in general. In fact what I'm thinking of in particular is that case where someone on one of those talk shows was revealed to have a gay admirer and the admired guy, heterosexual, apparently couldn't take it and literally murdered the gay guy).
Anyway my point is, my characters are wearing the Pride charm and I won't be changing it out until it's been a while and I've forgotten that I'd like to try some other charms or I just decide to rotate. If someone thinks that it's a signal they're free to contact me and I'll politely tell them that nah, I'm just on their side. Anything's possible but I'm assuming that most players of this game aren't specifically looking for a date.

Mike i think you've misread my post, i have no problem whatsoever with gay people contacting me none whatsoever. My problem, infact it wasnt even a problem it just confused me that people contacted me saying i shouldnt display the Pride flag if i wasnt gay.
Everyone and anyone can message me, i am a happily married man with a beautiful wife but if anyone wants a chat feel free.

I'm here to play a game, not show allegiance or squabble. This is all very tedious.
1 -
You main David there's no way you're straight smh my head
(i am joking)
0 -
Thankfully, not a single person here stops you from playing the game
4 -
I'm sorry for what you've had to go through and are still going through.
Showing support and being inclusive of everyone is one of the best ways that we can finally have some change in this world, it's happening allbeit slowly. Thank you for making this thread.
12 -
But... but... i also main Jane!
🤣
4 -
well you know, you can show allegiance AND play the game, it's really easy, you should try it ;)
5 -
Jane is also a bisexual icon you cannot escape this.

You're the type of person we should all aspire to be. You're the type of person religion should create. I don't know anything else about you but from the point of view of a gay guy who isn't even 20 yet this is actually really impactful to read. Good on you, seriously.
I'm not really sure about religion and what I do or don't believe, but if there is the Christian afterlife you're going on a fast track to Heaven.

Hopefully we can get a trans pride flag charm next
2 -
Well thankfully nobody prevents you from playing dbd and using an optional charm. If you don't care then don't talk about the topic and insinuate you actually care very much, I don't get what's so difficult about that?
4 -
still questioning how fragile some people are that a rainbow in a game makes them want that one person dead no matter what
like come on, how do you function in the real world if a rainbow in a video game makes you break down and want someone dead that badly
1 -
I may be heterosexual but I love the charm its absolutely wonderful to have support for pride In the game and i'll wear it until I feel the game has gotten better. As of right now i've got it on my David and Cheryl and i've got it on my Doc's hook. But however much I hate that people are camping and tunneling people with the charm i've used it to my advantage. Anytime I have a daily to be chased or a challenge that deals with the killer in any way which I just had one with David I put on that charm then run that homophobic weasel till his legs fall off. It's actually fun when I face baby homophobes that try and catch me since its the only time I don't feel bad about teabagging at the exit gate. I may preach positivity but some people need to be thrown back into the sewers they crawled from so to let positivity reign supreme.
2 -
Ruining the game for homophobes is a necessary evil for the betterment of the community in future 😌💅
1 -
No you and the streamer did something supportive, and all those gay people were just trying to gatekeep the flag or something, idk. Even though you're straight, if you display a pride flag or something similar it's showing that lgbtqia2+ people can feel safe around you. I guess they don't like that you support them? They make no sense
2 -
Yep 😁

I can't believe a dinky rainbow charm needs a zillion threads dedicated it and so much drama.
1 -
Wait, you´re not even 20?
I´m gonna call you son from now on.
2 -
This.
The drama. Oh the drama. People are falling over themselves. And that's what I mean about it all be very tedious...but at the same time oddly amusing.

I don’t like those multiple threads as well… but then again, that’s just this forum for you. There is always multiple threads with the same topics, especially complains on stuff like camping, tunneling gen-rush, etc.
that’s got nothing to do with the topic being LGBTQ+. And everyone can ignore the threads they are not interested in.

I'm gay myself, and I find it weird that such an insignificant speck ( a tiny rainbow charm in an online game where you run for your life or slaughter people) would bother anybody. I actually think the majority couldn't care less about the Pride charm itself. It's the hullabaloo and performative virtue signaling for this type of thing that creates the drama or rubs people the wrong way.
Glad it makes some people happy to have the charm though. I still want Demogorgon in a giant pink wig, a coconut bra and a floral sarong or I won't feel represented >:[
2 -
Yeah, a lot of people assume I'm significantly older than I really am but in actuality there's still a "teen" at the end of the age lol

Perfect.

I really appreciate this <33333

If BHVR released a "Vaccinated" charm, would the wearers be immune or get tunnelled by The Plague?
0 -
No.
how is that related to the topic at all?
3 -
"I hate the drama about this pride charm so here I am starting more drama about the pride charm"
3 -
As a christian myself I always like it when we get together as just one people, no ifs, buts, or whatever that people could hold against. I like that the charm came in because that means Bhvr is willing to open up to people being allowed to express themselves, like I want express the fact I have autism in the game, or if someone wants to share a bit about themselves. You know make something that everyone can represent themselves
1 -
Where?

well there's all of your comments in this thread but mostly the one i responded to. hence why i responded to it.
man it's amazing how the quote feature works, amiright?
1 -
I know many Christians who are homophobic, because it's not natural and a sin.
Screw that, I am Christian and I don't care what people think of me being bi.
Glad you're different.
1 -
I think you missed the point, but that's ok.
1 -
I´m proud of you son.
3 -
Religion has no place here but let me say this:
God made you as you are.
Using the bible to validate hating or judging someone is exactly opposite of the message.
You all deserve to be happy and loved.
Cheers.
