Reporting doesn't do anything?
I play on ps4 and I report people all the time because experience a lot of cheating, a lot of farming, games being taken hostage and so many exploits, the only way to report someone is an in game little button and it doesn't seem to do anything, can there be a better report system please, it literally does nothing...

Had someone tell me to kill myself after a game, nothing happened, at this point I just gave up on the report system

To report someone for cheating, you need to open a ticket on the Support website (https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) providing video evidence.
If you need more information on what to report and how to report, please refer to this: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules

The that kind of treat you need to report to steam/psn/microsoft because bhvr cant do anything about that.

I did, and still nothing happened, also I can report it because when I first started playing the game and I was really hot headed I called someone an idiot, and I got banned for 24 hours, yet if I report someone for telling me to kill myself nothing happens
Edit: To clarify, I did use the in-game report system for as well as the Microsoft report system

Depends on where it occurs. Out of game? Report to the platform. In-game, like you can do on Stadia, Steam, and Windows Store? Chat offence which can vary from temporary bans to permanent bans.

Temporary bans don't show up on profiles. You'd have no way of knowing if they were banned or not.

I thought it did, because the guy that I called an idiot well over a year ago, messaged me during my ban and asked how it was

yeah, except as I said, the person I called an idiot when I was really hot headed at the time, they used the in-game report system even though i said it through private messages

well, there's nothing else I can really say, I wasn't cheating during that game cuz I was fresh to the game and didn't even have any characters leveled up, and since I'm on xbox, I don't have a way of trying to hack nor did I know how to
Then my question is how did I get banned for 24 hours on DBD although my message technically by what you've told me cannot be reported to BHVR?
This kind of thing happens more times than I want to admit, that's why I just now give my gg and move on in fear of someone trying to report me for literally nothing, so by the statement I was falsely banned, forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm just trying to explain how I had looked at it

I meant for the chat offences.
In-game for cheating, you need to follow a specific procedure as already outlined by the moderators here.
Firstly, report them in-game.
Secondly, upload video evidence of the in-game violation to a video sharing site like YouTube, because of about 30 different technical difficulties you'll run into if you don't do this.
Thirdly, complete a support ticket under "Additional Player Report Information" here:
https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
You may need to scroll down.
Provide all the necessary information, including what happened (paste your video link here), your name and CloudID, the offender's name, and if you created an in-game report. This checks the match actually took place and saves log files for the game (apparently).
If you're unsure of where to find your CloudID, scroll down to the bottom of the settings page and hit the eye icon. Don't share this anywhere, it's pretty important to keep secret.
That should be it. It's a pain.

I have no information about your ban and this is not the place to ask information about it, you can contact support for that here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
If you got banned for 24 hours, be assured it was not for hacking, because that'd be way more than 24 hours, but again I don't have the specific about it, might have been for something else, you receive an in-game message when you get banned, so you should know.

You'll have to do this to finish off a report, you can save a video on PS4 and upload it (somehow, I don't own a PS4 so I can't help you here) but then use a different device AFAIK to do this.
Like I said, it's a pain.

This has always confused me. For anything but pretty much chat abuse you need a video AND to report them on the game. Then you make a support ticket obviously. So does this mean ingame reports are mostly worthless?

I assume theres no way for bhvr to watch the matches obviously. Other games like r6s and OW record the entire match and save it and when someones reported a member can just watch the match. Then act based on what they see.

It's so the trial (and player) gets "flagged", if you will, which tells the ACM that the trial really did occur. Otherwise, anyone would be able to swap usernames and frame someone else.
