I miss the old dbd *serious*
Please tell me that I am not the only one that miss the old dbd (old maps, HUD ...)
Here is a list from what bhvr has changed in the game and they have a serious effect on it
I know that everyone knows what they chnage but I want to mention them
1. Old maps
I know that the new maps are in the game for like 2 months (coldwind, gas heaven....) but I am sure that when you see a video with the old maps something is getting you back to the old memories
Nostalgia πππ
2. Old HUD AND movement
This is probably one of the BIGGEST change in the game and I know that it was very hard to get used to it but who doesn't miss the old HUD and movement...........
3. Balance changes
I've seen everyone complaining about the Freddy nerf but that's not the only thing that change the game tremendously. We've seen the trickster buff/nerf which was good, the clown buff which was also good and some other huge nerfs that I can't remember now.... BUT no one was going to complain if we get back the killers like they used to be before 1 year for example
Right?
4. The new survivor/killer models - new cosmetic "models"
This is the second one biggest change.....
We all know that this is going to be hard to get used to it but we have to
The reworked cosmetics were good but not all of them....
The new nea is good but you nerfed Claudette and it's a little bad....
AND if bhvr see this he can actually bring something back or even make a dead by daylight 2
dbd 2 can have the old HUD, movement, models, cosmetics.... I mean EVERYTHING BEFORE patch 4.5.0
This is going to be EXTREMELY VERY EXCITING VERYYYY GOOD but I don't think this is going to happen.. π but if it happens pls make it for all the platform

I like that the HUD now shows survivor icons but I prefer it's old layout.
5 -
They can put the survivors icons on the old HUD also
0 -
So do I, my friend.
So do I.
5 -
Yeah that's what I meant with my preferation of the old layout.

Dbd is going like fortnite

I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE BUGS, HIIIIIITTTTBOXES
I WANT THE OLD DBDBDBDBDBDB

I know this feeling all too well, my dear friend. I truly wish I could return to 1.8.0. It would be a dream come true!
Also, you mean in-game Freddy or my profile picture?
5 -
I would love to see the survivors drawn the way it used to be (white outlines) the pictures have no style and look cheap

I think a lot of us look back with nostalgia, I was actually having this discussion with friends last night and we were going through our old screenshots etc of when we first started playing 5 years ago. A lot has changed, but I'm the type that loves change and appreciate that a live game can change regularly and I am sure it will change again in the future.
4 -
Oh, I see.
Well, I decided to give my "number 2" a chance to shine!
3 -
I know...
With the years everything is changing but I can't forget these old memories
I first learned dbd from my friend through a ps4 share play and I.... I can't forget these memoriesππππ

Some is Nostalgia, some other things not
Please tell that,
Those icons in the hud look better than :
This...
It looks way more classy and true to the old design

The white vector art looks aesthetically better than having actual portraits of survivors.

How can I start a vote?

I play since Aug. 18 and i absolutely dont want old dbd back. There were so many great changes since then and im looking forward to the next changes. One of the most fun things for me is reading the patchnotes for new changes.
I liked the old HUD designwise more, but the new one is more useful. Other than that i cant really remember a change, which i want to be reverted.

the cheap looking survivor pictures in the hud and that the maps lost some of their darkness are the only things I miss/ would like the see chsnged6

Yh if they would have better pictures, it would be great. Some maps were just too dark. I like the new brightness better.

It's really just nostalgia. I get nostalgic over it every now and then, but we'll just have to accept that change happens.
There are some things I miss, some I don't. Past DBD has old DS and the 5-blink Nurse. I miss old base-kit Billy though, and I even miss old Bubba and wish he could be playable as a brown add-on. I liked charging up my chainsaw with freedom, and then releasing my chainsaw. Plus Nemesis PWYF was fun.

i just want old freddy back man, there are other ways he couldβve been tweaked to be more powerful and i just thought his old power made more sense then his current one.
2 -
Love this idea OP! If they would give us the choice between old version & new version, then I would definitely be playing the old version.
3 -
Sometimes nostalgia hits me so hard I miss half hour hatch stand offs with survivors/killers, there was something magically bonding about that special alone time between the two you trying to out smart each other.

Im really starting to believe the people who want Old DbD back are the ones whove never actually played it
And Im not talking about playing a game or 2 of classic DbD today, Im talking about ACTUALLY being there back in the day and trust me, DbD nowadays is a lot better than it used to be.
The changes made to the maps and models are needed for this games survival to be more appealing for next gen gaming, sure it might be nostalgic, but some nostalgia is better left as it is than actually making a return

There have been a lot of good changes but I did hope some thing would remain the same. I was disappointed that the original maps were changed as well as the HUD, movement etc. Even more disappointed when I heard the original survivors (and more) were getting a graphical update.
But I'm actually alright with the changes now but it took some time. But it is nice to look back on how the game used to be. I have to leave some screenshots here now btw...

I miss the old HUD, I really hate the player info going up the side and how bug items/add ons are in the corner compared to everything else. I miss the old injured icon. I miss the movement like being able to spin on the ground- especially when I'm trying to say thank you to killer giving me the hatch. I miss the old maps, especially as Trapper where I had more freedom where I could put my traps. Definitely miss old Coldwind, I really don't like the day time brightness. I miss not having breakable walls, they're so annoying.

I prefer the more dark style maps of the original, actually made it look like a horror game, but the changes to everything else was needed.

I love you <3

Feel like alot of changes were kinda needed. There was alot of cases originally where youd have 2 windows directly next to each other and no entity blockers. This just led to a safezone where it was impossible for alot of killers to ever land a hit there since the survivor would just vault a window, then vault BACK using the other window while the killer is in a vaulting animation. It was a total braindead move where the only way you were getting hit is if you werent paying ANY attention.
I guess it kinda depends on what you mean by "old dbd", cuz the original release was pretty damn broken.

This and any other multi game has to keep changing and moving forward in order to survive.
I also get nostalgic from time to time thinking of old DBD but then i quickly come back to reality.
So to all of the people that say they want the old DBD back you want the game to not prosper for your own sake? You dont want DBD to be bigger and better?I get that nostalgia is a very warm feeling but it is a blinding one.Like come on now.
BHVR has to make their bread.

I feel less alone to appreciate the changes. I play only since October 2020, tho, I didn't live as much changes as OG players.
Not everything is perfect, but I do like how it is.

I understand where you're coming from there, I think it'll be interesting to see where things go from here.

Pretty much this. I like the old HUD better as well as a few other things, but DBD seems to be getting better, in fact I think it's more balanced than it's ever been. Sure it's still not balanced perfectly, but I'd rather have this than no exhaustion status effect (which means constant SB and DH), old DS, more infinites, 5-blink Nurse, and old Self-Care.

I agree some changes are really good, like the flashlight screen when you get blinded (from the bright white to what we have now). And some other changes are good as well.
But I disagree that everything is for the better. Some updated maps don't have the feeling like they had before their reworks, like coldwind and autoheaven. I think MacMillan was a really good rework though.
And I still don't know why they needed to change the HUD all of a sudden. The killers that were released after the HUD update don't have anything in their power that needed a HUD change, like they said in one of the streams.

I prefer some of the old animations they completely butchered the injured running animations

Yh there were so many stupid things. Dribbling to a hook bc of ds was so annoying. Or iridescent huntress with a mori. The changes are too slow imo, but they did a lot of good things over the years.

I didn't play when these things were in the game but i am seeing them now and when I started playing dbd and I cried
I was like... WOW this game was scary and it had something that made you to play this game
If these images can come true again in the game I am gonna go to the devs offices and kiss them
But I think that a dbd 2 could be better and we could actually go back to these memories ππππ

People miss old maps' ugliness

Compared to most other online games dbd has gone above and beyond over the years ya sure some dont like every change but for the most part it does feel like the community is being listened to on alot of the issues. Behavior at least hasnt let the money goto their heads and who knows maybe dbd isnt that profitable because of all the licensing fees or whatever but i do think they truely listen to issues that the community has at times. I just wish they would add in a little bit more variety so it wasnt just repair 5 gens and escape like some other means of escaping the trial or at least a new weapon so its not only flashlights. Sometimes all the issues we have with a game are often because we dont feel developers are making the right calls or the right choices and its usually because we are playing this game way too much and we think back to the simplicity of dbd 1.0 which back then was the opposite we wanted more characters and more maps.

Right? Autohaven was horrendous, farm as okay-ish now it looks better but I rather if it was nightime instead of daytime and Mcmillam was bland, now is bland but in 4k

I wasn't playing DbD when it first came out, but one thing I always wondered is why were lighting and fog changed?
I checked some old videos and having the map all foggy looks super cool.
0 -
Yeah these foggy and dark maps made the game more scary
It was goooood πππππ

Old DBD is better than now graphically, I really miss Nea's pink bobs nice physics and Feng's/Meg's Floppy Skirts. Though the health is way better than before.

Normally it's nostalgia triggered from plain and simple preference for the older style.
In fact you can trigger that nostalgic feel with games, that you never played, that share graphical similiarities with the ones you love/d. It's like magic.

I have not played before the overhaul of many of these maps and i can already tell that there are things that feel just not changed but lost.
