Dead Hard, Buff or Not?
Well, either Dead Hard is getting a big time buff (to how it was before Dedicated Servers) or it's not getting changed at all.
From the Bugfix Patch Notes:
This means Dead Hard will either be stronger than before or nothing will change. What's your bet?

i wouldn’t really call it a buff, yes it is a buff but indirectly. more of a fix tbh, that’s how it always was suppose to be.
42 -
I think it will be more reliable, so effectively stronger and it will not have as many instances of exhausted on the ground
9 -
They are buffing DH? What?
WHAT?
Edit: Just a fix, then...Not so sure about that.
5 -
why would nothing change? it’s finally gonna work as intended with the hit validation.
1 -
Like how regular hit validation works? XD
17 -
If it gets stronger, that is a buff.
24 -
I never have any issues with that.
0 -
It's added to the hit validation mechanic that favors survivors...its a bullshit buff. We all know how bullshit the "pallet validation" is this is the same thing.
9 -
Lol nice clickbait
2 -
A fix like this is not a buff, but yes, it does seem like DH will be a little bit stronger- but on the plus side, it's only getting stronger for the use that isn't as much of an issue, so I don't think this is going to be a problem.
I've said it elsewhere but I much prefer when DH is used to dodge a hit instead of going for distance, it's the far more skilful play.
1 -
It's not changing the perk itself, just changing how the detection works - previously it was all based on the killers ping, now it's server sided.
28 -
As much as i hate dead hard. Exhausted on the ground is stupid.
This is a good fix. now add some kind of restriction to it and it's golden
7 -
Yes, this wasn't a buff for DH lol it was a bugfix
3 -
Yes! Thank you!
1 -
Oh server sided...like the pallet validation...well thats lovely /s
7 -
Bruh, if I slap someone with Dead Hard and the hit gets refunded we might have a little situation.
16 -
Dead hard isn't "skillful" at all...It's press "E" to win
4 -
Server sided? So theres gonna be another scenario when you hear and see you weapon hit survivor, but they are long gone before you wipe your weapon and start to look for them to pick them up? Nice
31 -
There is more skill involved in timing it correctly and not messing yourself up by dodging a hit but hitting a wall, compared to pressing E to get to a pallet.
Is it much? No, but it's something, and it's something a smart Killer can bait out too.
6 -
I have no idea what that means "hit validation"

Something being fixed===>buff - dbd forums
7 -
Oh goody, are we getting another "Survivor yells and you bloody them and they scream and they go down but LOL JUST KIDDING LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL YOU IDIOT THOUGHT YOU ACTUALLY DOWNED THEM!?!?!?! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're back up and you're standing there like an idiot because we told you that you hit them so you foolishly thought you hit them! ROFLCOPTER!!!!!!!!!!!" thing?
13 -
Kind of yes, pretty much so that the perk works as it should and should prevent the times when you're "exhausted on the ground" even though your perk worked, but the killers ping was higher.
9 -
So not running into a wall is skill? Nah thats just situational awareness. I have seen DH used in two instances 1. Get to a pallet and 2. Survivor gets outplayed by the killer and uses DH to fix their mistake. There is no skill involved.
1 -
I've seen Dead Hard used terribly enough to respect that you at least have to know what you're doing when you press E or you'll end up in an even worse position, and I rarely feel too annoyed when my hit is dodged.
4 -
This is how it SHOULD BE. why do those of us have to be punished for having low ping, yet the killer gets all the benefit of a high ping connection? It's BS. I am so sick of being hit from far away, or hits not connecting, when my ping never goes above 40 ms. Now if we can just add this in for regular hits, windows, and pallet vaults then we'll be good.
11 -
I’ve made plenty of mistakes when using dead hard. It isn’t always a free get out of jail card like everyone thinks it is.
6 -
Well at least it’s consistent now. Although I hate this perk with a burning passion
1 -
Its already been added for pallet interactions, vaults and many special attack hits for months now. Today its gonna be on Dead Hard as well
0 -
That's like saying the pallet validation change wasn't a buff to Survivors.
It's still a buff the perk really didn't need.
5 -
I'd disagree, a buff would be making a change to the perk, this is making the perk work as intended.
15 -
It's a change to make the perk stronger.
How is that not a buff.
5 -
It favors the better connection, which is what EVERY hit needs. Instead, hits are still handled on the killer side. Pallet stuns supposed to be server-based. NOTHING regarding hits is based on survivor-client.
I wish this change would happen with hits in general. Hit Validation doesn't do anything concerning high-ping killers. They still get the hits.
3 -
It doesn't change the perk at all if you have decent ping.
2 -
Survivors used to say the perk is bad because it “doesn’t work most of the time” (even though the distance part has always been better.) I wonder what BS talking point they’ll use now to try and justify this broken perk.
4 -
Regardless, the overall strength of the perk WAS affected by this change, was it not?
6 -
Guess I will have to take the time to be right on the survivors ass and try to bait it out only to swing get the hit then have it rolled back like the pallet BS.
0 -
It's about fairness. Everything has been handled on the killer side for years, now as they are moving things to the server which is a neutral authority and most games have it, it's a survivor buff? lmao
6 -
Nope...it favors who ever lives closer to BHVR servers.
2 -
only if you had bad ping as a killer.
10 -
It was really annoying to be exhausted on the ground.
4 -
Yes, it is.
I call it how it is, it is an objective buff to an extremely popular Survivor perk.
1 -
Why should it simply always favor the killer? Is that fair? And it actually doesn't, it favors ping. Ping isn't always about distance. I could simply have a better connection with a lower ping than you next door to the server.
0 -
They should atleast get rid of being able to dead hard over bear traps.
1 -
From my own testing, that's not true with pallet validation.
It seems widely inconsistent.
4 -
No... it doesn’t
1 -
Yes ☝🏽
0 -
Only if that means a nerf is incoming.
1 -
Are there any plans to remove killers POV where you can see hit and blood and hear survivor scream but the hit gets "validated"?
If there wasnt that part of this whole thing, I would be okay with it. But since I see and hear something that didnt actually happen, it often costs me time
6 -
You can tell yourself night is day, but that still doesn't change anything. DH was always intended to be server-sided; they announced that before servers even went live. They have always indicated many interactions, including pallets, grabs, stuns, and others were designed with The Killer being the authority would eventually see changes based on servers. For too long, Survivors have endured everything being killer-sided. That was never fair and provided a tremendous advantage to The Killer.
