She was obviously weak despite people saying "it's too early to judge her power".

These are very good changes tbh, while she will still be weak at larger loops with full visibility shes certainly been made better.

My only wish was a slight burst of speed when first coming from a tv and demanifesting. (Very small % of course) that would of toned up the fear for me.

Now I just have to hope I see this killer in my MMR :(

They can buff her however they please... but she still looks goofy.

She does get a speed boost when she comes out of the TV - do you mean an even bigger one?

With the change that makes it so that returning a video tape only reduces stacks by 3 and the increased condemned received from grabbing a video tape, those changes makes turning off TVs a worse choice. So, in a weird way it prevents survivors from turning off TVs as frequently as they were in the PTB.

Is this ptb change in ptb right now?

  • AhoyWolf
    AhoyWolf Member Posts: 4,387

An even faster one or slightly longer default one would be amazing, getting speedy hits from the TV's was the most fun thing I had with her on the PTB.

The only change that I would like to see for Sadako is the ability for the killer to see the condemned status. It doesn't have to be full-on, but what I'd suggest is for the killer to see when a survivor is one bar away from condemned. That way the killer knows which survivor to pressure.

    Adaez Member Posts: 1,243

I agree,by the time you get out of the TV survivors are long gone, since its so loud and survivors can easily spot you.

She is nicely tune now,a good player with absolutely wreck survivors with her,I also wish they would had reduced the time it takes for a tv to get back on after she teleports to it or its turned off.

PTB is not currently active, it finished last Monday. So the first time you'll be able to test these changes is when the Chapter releases in March

I like the changes. Good that they're also changing parental guidance, 10 seconds was obviously too much

So while she gets a speed boost coming out of a TV, it's not all that impactful because while chasing survivors avoid TVs in loops. So using a TV will generally lose you distance rather than gain distance out of a loop. In addition to that, coming out of a TV locks your camera position for a second or two after you leave which also makes it more likely to lose a survivor because you've given up line of sight.

Was that lullaby an additional change? On PTB I don't remember any sound indicating Sadako's proximity while she was demanifested.

  • Tranquil_Blue
    Tranquil_Blue Member Posts: 335

Wait, she has a lullaby when demanifested (i.e. while she's undetectable)? I didn't realize that. Apparently, they are decreasing the Terror Radius (and maybe the lullaby radius is decreased as well).

Quote from article: "While The Onryō is demanifested, she is intermittently visible within a 32m range and Survivors hear a 'lullaby' rather than the terror radius. On more open maps, however, it can be easy to spot her sporadically appearing as she approaches. With that in mind, we’ve made the following changes:

*Decreased max visible range while demanifested to 24m (was 32m)

*Decreased Terror Radius to 24m (was 32m)"

Well either speed or duration. When playing it felt like the green addon (forget name but it increased duration by 50%) was like the go to and needed addon.

Similar to how alot of killers get their most used addons made more base and a small change to the addon (ghostface recovery changes for example)

Feel it's not only encourage a hit and run scary gameplay but also make this addon not as needed especially as you go against stronger survivors.

Edit: may be thinking ahead, but it feels the same to GF recovery, PyramidH range etc. @MandyTalk

These changes seem like they will help with mind gaming loops but I'm still a little worried about the tvs cooldown been longer then it takes to solo a gen.

Good changes. She's still probably going to need Bamboozle to stand a chance at higher MMR, but this could help her quite a bit.

    Mister_xD Member Posts: 7,669

i like the changes she got, but i doubt they are going to make her much more viable.

her chase is still very weak and while its nice to be able to maintain the flickering state more consistently throughout it, it is still a very ineffective chasing tool (mostly due to how unreliable and inconsistent it is).

and the condemnation buffs she got are decent, but wont really change a lot i fear.

after all, the main way you got condemned as a Survivor was by her teleporting to you, not by holding a tape. So buffing the amount of condemnation you receive while holding a tape wont really affect your gameplay a lot (if at all). removing one less stack of condemned on you by inserting her tape to your TV is a good change, but i doubt people will have to do this in their trials more than once, MAYBE twice.

they are a step in the right direction and they will undoubtedly make her better than she was before, but i very highly doubt they are going to make her much more viable.

To b fair being able to just kill someone is a huge advantage so I understand why they are afraid to keep it low. Imagine if you could get a survivor to full condemned in like 3 minutes it would be like og moris all over again.

It's nice but still the biggest problem is that her TVs have insane cooldown.

100s for teleport?! What is this? Level of Oppression tier cooldown??

60s for Survivors using TV? Toooooo loong.

I really like the changes they added. However I’m curious if she’s getting a 24 meter terror radius just while demanifested or if that’s base kit. If it’s base kit that would make her the 1st 4.6 movement speed killer with a 24 meter terror radius.

  • PeaceNGrease
    PeaceNGrease Member Posts: 673

She doesn't have a TR while demanifestind, so it's base kit which is pretty interesting.. but doesn't Freddy have a 24 meter as well??

Better than nothing, but I mean... eh.

  • Gamedozer7
    Gamedozer7 Member Posts: 2,657

Ans gens take 80 seconds. If you spawn into a match and teleport to a TV that happens to have 2 survivors you can chase only one so 1 would jump back on the gen you can't even teleport back to that TV tell 20 seconds after the gen was finished.

  • Mister_xD
    Mister_xD Member Posts: 7,669

it is a very strong effect.

however, the Survivors can get rid of it relatively easily by taking a tape and inserting it in a new TV again.

If they were to make a buff to this effect that, lets say, doubles the amount of condemnation given to each individual Survivor via a teleport, the result of that wouldnt be a bunch of Survivors being fully condemned after just a few minutes into the trial, but rather them slowing down more on gens to focus more on their newly added secondary objective of inserting tapes.

i can understand harsh activation requirements being in place when the effect is hard for Survivors to remove again (such as tormented from Pyramid Head), but given how easy it is to remove a big chunk of condemnation, i think its a bit over the top.

  • Zozzy
    Zozzy Member Posts: 4,759

Eh.. still seems to slow and easy to remove condemned. They still kept the slow down while manifesting and the tv's still have an insane cooldown.

  • Gamedozer7
    Gamedozer7 Member Posts: 2,657

You have to remember people are still freaking out about having to solve THE BOX so I don't think the devs wanted to much emphases on a killers built in secondary objective.

What im confused about is they mentioned she had a lullaby, but as far as i know, i have never once heard or see anything about that? Is that new or was it bugged or something?

  • typervader
typervader Member, Alpha Surveyor Posts: 513

He used to along with pig, but they changed it because 'we want to keep movespeed and Terror radius conesinent with each other' then they do this.

  • Mister_xD
    Mister_xD Member Posts: 7,669

    you're probaply right with that.

but i dont agree with designing a character entirely around the lowest possible level of play. After all, those people will learn and improve against this Killer in the future - but this wont apply to the Killer themselves. Sadako just wont see play in higher levels because of how inefficient and straight forward (easy to understand, therefore easy to play & counterplay) her power is.

That i think is the biggest shame.

Just another reason Freddy is even more mediocre after his power change. They either need to give him BOTH dream pallets and puddles, or just revert him to his power being the dream world.

It was a more unique mechanic and better overall for 4v1, in fact you could say he was the prototype for 4v1 style at one point, since spreading his dream world debuff was the better way to play him.

  • Gamedozer7
    Gamedozer7 Member Posts: 2,657

Exactly its almost like BHVR thinks is player base is to stupid to get better so they have to bring the game down to us. The majority of Bad player will become decent player and part of then will become really good player.

When you balance from the top down what ever you balance at the high end trickles down to the lower end and sometimes it doesn't effect the lower end at all. When you balance from the bottom up everything you do effect everything above it because those players eventually get better then abuse the mechanics in place for lower level player because those mechanics carry all the way to the top.

  • dugman
    dugman Member Posts: 9,713

Total tangent but I’d be totally onboard with Freddy being able to swap between pallets and snares the same way Clown switches between pink and yellow bottles.

  • dugman
    dugman Member Posts: 9,713

The buffs to chase sound decent, as does cutting the Condemned removal to 3.

She actually looks decent in chase because of her partial invisibility and still moving at roughly survivor speed while Manifesting. She can chase someone entirely Demanifested, get up to hitting distance, Demanifest over 1.5 seconds and still be in range to swing when it finishes. (Wraith can’t do that, when he decloaks he slows down to very, very low speed so even with his extra lunge speed after a decloak he can’t get immediately the hit if they were running away from him during that time.) Dowsey was putting on a clinic with her on the PTB in chases even before these buffs so he’ll probably be quite happy!

If she still needs more of a buff I’d lean toward reducing the TV refresh timers. That both increases how often she can reliably teleport and thus the rate survivors gain stacks of Condemned and how often survivors are enticed to turn the TVs off.

  • fulltonon
    fulltonon Member Posts: 5,762

But can she counter windows or palettes, that's the biggest factor in chase I think?

  • dugman
    dugman Member Posts: 9,713

She’s a stealth killer, so what she does is either get in close enough for a hit before the survivor can get to the loop or, at loops without 100% safe pallets, her partial invisibility makes it tough to tell which direction she is traveling the loop so the survivor may not know if she continued going clockwise versus backtracking, for example. For example, say someone is running at shack and runs inside. They don’t see her and, because she might be invisible after they round a corner, they don’t know if she’s chased them inside or backtracked toward the window. (Her invisibility persists for a second or so after Manifesting so by timing the Demanifest right before getting to the loop she can take advantage of the survivor not knowing what way she runs it.)
