Remove Perk Tiers.
Perk tiers are a really outdated and unfitting mechanic and should be gone from the game by now.
1) They just add more grinding
There is already an absurd amount of grinding required, between items, addons, offerings and such.
And with the more and more content being added, the amount of grind really needs to be lightened.
This isn't beta where there were only a handful of perks for each side anymore, there are now dozens and dozens of perks with more being added every couple months.
2) They put a further gap between new players just starting the game and players with more playtime
This seems extremely counter intuitive considering the devs have stated multiple times that they want the game to be more welcoming to new players.
3) It would be easier for the devs
Rather than needing to create, balance, and maintain 3 variants of each perk, just have a single version of each perk.
4) They don't even have a real reason to exist in the first place.
The only legitimate reason multi-tier perks would have to exist is if perks worked off a points system where you could buy as many perks as you could afford instead of a static 4-slot system.
Just remove the Tier 1 & 2 perks from the game and have the Tier 3s become the defaults.

Agree on this. It will just make the game grinder and grinder after every DLC.
Also it makes DbD more casual at it is already, cuz perks are really important and currently it's more like playtime > skill.
Player A who is new to the game but os good at video games has to play hundreds over hundreds hours to unlock important stuff to compete. While player B, who is absoluty garbage at video games will get carried by perks he unlocked just because he has more playtime.
In a perfect competitive and fair scenario, all perks would be available by default like in KYF and the only thing matters is your skill. But that's not gonna happen due to business stuff, cuz many people keep playing just because of grind-reasons.
But at least, remove tier 1 and 2. Or at least tier 1.

But then no one can complain about the NOED buff.
But besides i agree. Atleast remove T1 and rename the other tiers T1 and T22 -
Or at least make the non teachable perks tier one. Territorial imperative and insidious makes me mental seeing 3 times, but you have to get them to get them off the web.0

some perks require it at higher ranks, so this would be buffing perks and will result in several pls nerf posts that nobody wants to see

Hello
It made sense when we had 4 Survivors and 3 Killers, but the game has tremendously evolved since then.
We are looking at this problem as we speak, but cannot say when we will be ready to announce something officially. Just wanted to mention that we acknowledge that the Perk system is not very exciting and we want to do something about it, making it more interesting and balanced.
We are open to suggestions and ideas.
Thank you!

Thanks for replying, I have thought this had needed changing for a long, long time, but only now bothered to make a post about it. Glad to see the team is already doing something about it.

If Perk Tiers get removed, I demand Bloodpoint compensation for all the unnecessary Level 50 Bloodwebs I bought to get all Perks on some Characters.
Another problem would also be that currently, there aren't enough General Perks around to supply 50 Bloodweb Levels with Perks unless all Teachables of nearly all Characters are unlocked.

Yeah I remember that the dbd team acknowledge this huge grind issue and is trying to address it.
Do you guys discussed about removing tiers or is this something you want to keep? What other ideas do you guys discussed internal? It would really awesome if you tell us your ideas. This will "calm" us down to see that you guys really try, but also will open new discussion here in the forum and would bring probably new ideas/tweaks from the community. Let's all work together (Devs and the community) with more communication/brainstorming etc to push good changes for DbD0 -

That will already cut a tremendous amount of grind with a simple solution that shouldn't be that hard to implement.1 -
I cannot say what has been discussed, although we definitely do not want to screw up player's progression. If the system is totally revamped, you can obviously expect a compensation equalling your current progression. I ''guess'' something similar to what Blizzard did with HoTS.

Chester's idea to remove a tier from each I think would be a fitting fix. It would cut 1/3 of the grind away, the early versions of the perks still would be viable (not that new players would be OP against experienced players during resets, anyway), and it would provide new character progression a reasonable perk set to be able to play relatively competitively within a few levels instead of grinding to, say, 30-40 and still possibly not having a decent viable perk set with which to play. It sucks having to grind on one character and BP dump into another over and over without being able to competitively and actively play that character to get used to them in the process.

Remember its way easier to get just 2 Tiers instead of 3 because of Rarity, and there would still be enough perks around to prevent the concern @DocOctober had.

True. And with the upcoming chapter, there'll be, what, 54 Killer perks and 59 Survivor perks? Double that for 2 tiers if somebody wants them all or even a particular set, and there's still plenty of reasons to keep leveling past 50 and still plenty of BP to grind, so it's not like the vast majority of folks would run out of reasons to continue farming BP anytime soon.
Would also make me less apprehensive about prestige, something I've only done on a few characters because I finally got decent perk sets for my favorites and dread the idea of grinding them out again (and again, and again) just to be able to sensibly play them with bloody clothes.

And in a couple of Chapters, we'll have the same problem all over again.
How lovely.2 -

There is another aspect to this as well:
Some players may only have unlocked the teachable perks they really want.
Others like me may have tried to unlock as many teachable perks for both killers and survivors as they could.
The reason why I did that is because I wanted to try if I can find interesting perk combinations outside the recommended meta.
I was not attached to just using one character but also enjoyed playing different characters with unique clothing combinations.
Whenever a character reaches prestige it was a motivation to start fresh with a different set of skills.
Sometimes it was fun to play without the recommended meta perks.
But sometimes this was also frustrating because that one crucial perk like "Urban Evasion" would not show up until level 40 and when it showed up it was rank 1 and not rank 3.
…Suggestions to fine tune the current system:
- Make all four slots available from character level 1.
- When a player reaches prestige they can select one teachable perk from another character to be unlocked from the start.
- Players can mark a percentage of perks they unlocked as teachable not to show up in the bloodweb. Changing those blocked teachable would be possible with blood points as well.
...
Basic ideas:Players who unlock all teachable perks should be rewarded and not punished with completely uncontrollable random effects.
Players should be able to add their favourite perk to their favourite character so the community will have a more diverse selection of main characters with unique clothing.
- Combine choice with some random elements
…
More extreme changes that may go to far:
- Teachable perks only need to be unlocked once and can then be added immediately to any character
- Only addons and offerings are found in the bloodweb
...
Conflict of interest:
I would prefer perks not to be completely random.
But I still want the motivation to keep playing and unlocking. Reach prestige. Start again.

Suggestions
1: Give every character a tier 1 version of the perk they unlocked (this would ease grinding all across the board and help when players prestige or use new killers/ survivors.
2: 1.5 to 2x bp gain or create more daily or match rewards: If you guys tied certain bp objectives into the perks on matches like engage in chase for one minute after activating sprint burst in a match for 5k things like that would go a long way and give survivors/killers more to do and give us more rewards on our playstyle.0 -

I would really love to see this Idea in game especially if you are at a fairly highrank during the release of a new killer. In highranks you rely on fairly high lvl perks unless you play Nurse or Hillybilly which makes it pretty discuraging to play a killer that is low lvl unless you saved up your shards and BP which then gives you a chance to get some perks that you would like to have. Or give us something like an "Unlock Token" every 5-10lvls which allows you to unlock a perk in your perk pool for that killer on lvl 1 (If you are Prestiege 0-1) lvl 2 (If you are P2) and lvl 3 (If you are P3)
