Community Challenges
So there's these new challenges.. First one has some global progression on it, second one doesn't.
So does this mean that to unlock the next community challenge, we have to fully complete the first one as a community?
What about the rewards? Are these linked to the Personal Contribution below the global progress? Like, doing it gives you a reward, but only completing it as a community unlocks the next one?

I have the same question. I’m sure we’ll have an answer here shortly as it won’t take too long for someone to get 40 skill checks and tell us what happens.
1 -
Well seeing how the second one has 0 global progression on it at all, I assume it means the global goal has to be achieved before the community as a whole gets access to the next one.. but yeah, that's just my guess
0 -
You can finish the personal ones but until both the Community challenge and the individual challenge is completed the rewards are not available.
4 -
I see, thanks.
0 -
And what if the community doesn't?
0 -
Seeing how easy the challenges at the bottom are, I'll work on those first, then have a community challenge equipped at all times until it succeeds. The progress on that first one is going nicely already and it's only been one hour, so I doubt it'll take very long to complete
1 -
Lol you'll literally accomplish nothing. They obviously create goals that are very do-able. They have all these stats
Edit: guess I was wrong

.... Oh.
Get to work ya'll

You just made my case for never touching these events.
3 -
Well another thing that's not really clear is, if I contributed 40 Checks/GenKicks already, do consecuttive Checks/Kicks keep getting counted towards the Global Progression, as long as I keep the Quest active?
4 -
This.
0 -
I assumed my contribution is capped at 40 and selected other challenges over this - even some from the archive just for the BP. 😅 So yes, this would be valuable information as I'd obviously prioritise the community challenge.
I'd run Pop, Eruption and even Call if Brine if you feel like it. 😉
0 -
I was literally typing that rn xp.
I can't remember if there were other community challenges, but I think for the sake of it we should just do the event archives and then just have the community challenge active (just in case it counts beyond 40)
0 -
True, but my small Grief with that is, that I still got stuff on Page 4 to do, and for some reason they decided it's a good Idea to shave a Week of the usual 4-Weeks for Page 4, so now you only have 3 Weeks while having the Event Tome on Top of it, so I really would like to know if it's still counting after the 40 I need for Personal Progress, since I'm done with every other Quest of that Page xP
0 -
Can you still contribute if you reach personal contribution but have the challenge selected anyway or are you hard capped at 40?
2 -
No it's capped - so once you reach that, you're unable to contribute further.
1 -
Peanits said in this post you can keep contributing once your personal goal is met.

Unfortunately that is not the case.
4 -
I feel like expecting 750k unique players to each contribute 40 feels a bit hefty, judging from our progress thus far...
10 -
Oof, that's unfortunate. Good to know though.
0 -
Yeah, that's my thought too, I mean I can only see the Steam Players (85k as of right now), but 750k Individual Players feels like a lot, the other 3 Quests take a few less with - 694.454, 625.000, 725.000 respectivly, so I really hope those Numbers add up, and we can make it, I need that Haddie Skin by yesteryear xD
1 -
My eyes are more on Dredge's stuff than Haddie's but I'm with you...I'm just worried since I know not everyone pays attention to Tome stuff, so we're relying on a lot of maybes from the broader community with us not able to over-contribute...
1 -
Its really bad that you cant contribute MORE, back in my day when we had other community events, it was community effort. Not just well i did it 40 times, I cant do anymore. Please Mandy take this as feedback to the rest of the team, Community events are community the whole way.
II have made a separate thread about how to do it better, please show your support: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/328799/community-event-isnt-like-the-good-old-days-and-thats-not-as-good-at-it-could-be

Honestly the fact the we can't contribute more is kinda sad. So others that have finished and hoping for people to help towards the goal can't do anything but watch. Definitely brings the enjoyment down on the event for me, and not meaning I need the skin now and want it free but why can't I still help progress towards it now that I'm finished with the personal part of the challenge.
6 -
Agreed - I was literally thinking to myself last night "eh, I kinda would like to get more BP from the other tome stuff but I want to help more than I want those, so I'll keep the community challenge on since people think it counts past the 40." Finding out that's not true just feels bad since it keeps me and others who are totally fine contributing more to help more - ESPECIALLY when you have to do your individual part to claim the rewards anyway so it's not like people can piggyback off us contributing more.
4 -
So this basically confirms these community challenges aren't being done?
2 -
Yep, I dont think they are going to get done, 40 per person only its way too many players for such numbers, oh well its just cosmetics so its not that much of a loss.
0 -
Why do we have to have the challenge selected to contribute? Community challenges were just tracked by you guys back in the days and not through the Archives. Also not being able to contribute after finishing it, is just horrible design. Why set a limit to what each individual i nthe community can contribute? Just 2 really bad decisions that's going to punish your players. In 25 hours, we've only hit about 25% on the first community challenge!
6 -
Yeah the Math feels a bit off, the Event is Probably 14 Days, and we have 4 Challenges, with variing total minimum Players needed, so we approx have 4, 3, 3, 4, Days per Quest, not factoring that there might be another Set of Community Quests on Page two, don't have the Numbers, but 750k active Players seems like a stretch, quest always on and uncapped contribution would surely be more favorable.
0 -
There are more than likely four more on the second page.
Be lucky if the first page is done in two weeks with progress towards it capped per player.
0 -
Pretty sure you can continue to contribute if you have it selected... mine says 214
0 -
you can't. Once your personal goal is reached, then that's it - nothing you do gets added to the community challenge.
0 -
Yeah that was my concern as well.
But atleast now we know that your personal contribution doesn't go past 40 (sadly).
0 -
Funny, because I saw mine was at like 73, but then it showed 40 again.
Really confusing, and now just sad to know that it doesn't count further.
1 -
Thanks, I thought others would agree as well I made a separate post about it to make sure it gets BHVR's attention.
If they changed only a few things, the future community events could be so much better imo.
0 -
Please uncap each players contributions. Its about the Community showing their strength, not individuals pulling their fair share.
2 -
Bruh, this sucks they need to either make it so that you can contribute more or lower the community goal, there is no possible way we will reach the goal unless they lower it or let people contribute more.
0 -
They changed the challenge to 10 mil instead of 30 mil. But they didn't uncap the Personal Goal
0 -
10 seems much more reasonable but the problem of having to equip the challenge remains as some players don't even bother with the archives.
Is there any way to make it so the next available community challenge is autoselected if no other challenge is selected? (Or better yet, make it so community challenges don't need to be eqipped in the first place)
0 -
Or make every kind of challenge in general a passive thing. (I know I'm a bit late on the response, every community challenge except the last one has been completed, and even that one is 20% of the way done right now, so tomorrow it'll be finished)
0 -
Give me a break, you guys are gonna whine long enough that they will unlock the rewards anyways...BHVR is gonna need a feel good celebration even otherwise they'd have to admit they dont have the player base to justify these goofy stats.
0 -
Of course we'll whine, the global goal for the very first challenge was stupidly high, after a day it wasn't even at 10% completion. I know it was a week day but if it takes 5 full days to get the first community challenge, how long does that leave you to do the other ones before the next level of challenges opens? Answer: not long enough
1 -
I'm not gonna lie, I simply dont care. I just think its funny that BHVR thinks that many people play, or that everyone is gonna participate. Stop sweating it, youre gonna get your silly little skins
0 -
Is this bugged Mandy? I can't move on to the next one even though I've completed the personal challenge or can you only move on when both the community and personal challenge is done?
0 -
You can only move on when both the community challenge goal is complete and your personal contribution is complete - both need to be fulfilled to move onto the next one.
1 -
Thank you :)
0 -
you can do the other challenges - the personal ones, but you cannot move on to the next community challenge until the previous one has been completed.
