I was told this was a bug by the Anonymous hacker!
Am I wrong?

havent heard about this kind of bug (though it’s DbD so still possible)
i would still consider this a cheater and hope you reported them for it. It’s easier than ever to report after all without having to search for SteamID64 etc. and you have the clip

I mentioned in a previous post that I clicked on the in game report section but have little faith that does anything as anyone could do that and it does not require proof.
Previously without anonymity players could be reported but with video evidence similar to this
How many times will a SWF who have had a bad game simply report a killer for hacking in the hopes of them being affected with a ban etc and not need proof?

Yh they're clearly just cheating. Either way even if it is a bug they are still abusing a gameplay exploit for an advantage. So still a bannable offence.
Imagine feeling the need to cheat against a trapper. 🤭

Previously? Not really. You have to make such an in-game report and then create a support ticket where you can attach the clip. That has been the case for a very long time (maybe even since the beginning?)
in-game reports without additional proof won’t be looked at (only something like chat harassment doesn’t require additional support tickets as the chat log will be saved automatically with the in-game report)

There were many other instances in that game but this was the clear obvious indication they were cheating but they had been very clever to hide this from me until then. I could have finished this game and thought, well I need to improve my trap placement / skill / etc.
If the DBD servers are monitoring the games where traps are and a survivor walks over it but the players client software hasn't reported them trapped then an automated report without the need of humans reporting each other

You know if ur on steam you can go into the steam menu and press "View Players" Next to the "View all friends button"
it should show you who you played against i think. i dont think there is a way Privacy Mode can block that
Ill test in out the next time i get an anonymous player. barely seem them

I personally think that the hacker was probably lying. Partially just because its a hacker but also because I find it hard to believe BHVR would mess it up so badly that Trappers traps just don't work. I know, obligatory "BHVR is incompetent" comments but they've honestly been doing better recently and I'd rather give them the benefit of the doubt over a hacker.
I don't understand why the name doesn't show up post-game though. You can't stream snipe someone after the game is over and if you can report their Steam account too it may help get them banned considering so many hackers use anonymous mode. It's a strange decision.

It is a problem created by BHVR allowing an Anonymous setting and even not showing a link to the player for end game stats.
Just had 4 lobbies in a row with anonymous players and I am being honest in that I refuse to play with them and can see more and more players refusing to play with them as well.
Hopefully raising this issue opens a dialogue and survivors / killers aren't lobby dodging causing longer queue times

Really question why they added a mode that is so easy to abuse. If it's to prevent stresmers from getting abused/streamsniped then make a perquisite that you must have a linked twitch account live on stream with a certain number of followers live on the stream to allow anonymous mode to be turned on.

Hopefully people like you will learn in those dialogues that the issue isn’t an actual issue and reporting literally didn’t change at all except for platform reports (which still were only possible on your own platform so that’s not a big loss?)

I get it, I don't trust Private mode survivors at all. and alot of hackers if not most use it to try to slide by easier

First of all the mode is not abusable, players using it can be reported normally, as no SteamID, profile link or nametag is required to fill up the ticket anymore.
Secondly, streamers and content creators are not the only people who get harassed.

Where is the abuse though? They can still get reported just as any crossplay player before. Nothing changed.
also, Twitch isn’t the only streaming platform even though it may be the biggest currently.

Then why are we seeing so many cheaters using it? It doesn't make them invulnerable but it does give them a layer of protection, for example I play on xbox, if an xbox cheater comes up against me i can't access their profile to report them to xbox live.
And as for the harassment that's fair enough. Suppose a lot of people get salty messages from people after games. Does dbd have a way for pc players to direct message each other?

Well not just twitch obvsly. And see my post above, anonymous mode still prevents some avenues of reporting if you can access the cheaters profile page.

I think there is a misunderstanding there, you don't need to report them to Xbox Live and profile links are not necessary for our report system, so there is no need to access their profile.
And as for the harassment that's fair enough. Suppose a lot of people get salty messages from people after games. Does dbd have a way for pc players to direct message each other?
On Steam people can post on other players' profile if they have the comment section public.

Reporting to xbox live can also let microsoft take action against them too, if they cheat on one game it's a fair bet they cheat on most.
And ok, didn't know how much of an issue harassment could be on PC.

But wasn't it found on steam you can check "recently played with" and you'd see the killer/survivors names anyway?

While they probably are cheating there's always a chance they aren't and something is bugged allowing them to do that, like the cancel fast vault bug right now, or how using a map or key used to let you window tech a killer with no timing involved , or how clairvoyance used to let you push the killer off of a building, I would still report it of course but just be on the lookout to try and identify a pattern if this happens again and see if you can match any similarities in builds or items

I think because of the double vault bug hackers are able to claim they aren't cheating.
This hacker was aware of every single trap I had set when I was chasing them and only a 'god' trap and me chasing them without slowing down for a pallet did I see that they were.
Hacker had Anonymity setting on as others do now and was trying to hide this as much as possible.
The stealth hackers make my experience of the trial totally pointless and affects future games in thinking whether I am playing well or they are hacking.
Offering anonymity has been a poor choice by BHVR who are offering no harassment or a safe space which doesn't stop end game chat... just poor IMO

idk i have mega doubts in a lot of what people say, view players on steam? well that actually does not work for 80% of players due to their own privacy settings beyond DbD, it also definitely does not work on hackers, when you click a hacker in the lobby i think some of them (but not all, probably depends which hack program they bought?) can block some options from showing for you because sometimes i have clicked them and had absolutely nothing come up, no report, no view profile, block or add friend, nothing, and that was on an extremely blatant 'subtle' hacker that was on my team
either way, view players only shows me about 1/5 of the people i play with

Are cheater not able to see our accounts?
