Serious about cheating huh?

So I have to say, other than lag switching, this is one of the few games that I rarely encounter blatant cheating. I've seen streamer videos of encounters, and have had 3 or 4 myself. Nothing compared to many other online games. That's cool and all, but you guys seem to have left a gigantic hole in something.

Why do players store their progress and data on their own systems in a save file? I guess the costs for keeping a tiny amount of client data and implementing the online save progress was too much initially?

I've stumbled across a ton of youtube videos that show players loading in full P3, full 200+ items of everything.

And the thing that keeps track of that players progress is the Steam save sync? Really?

Is something in the works for you guys to fix this?

I can understand the cost for dedicated servers up front and all, but with all the money that's been made and all of the core changes, how have you guys still not got control of player progress considering how important it is to the game?

Is this a big reason why we see so many rank 1 survivors who are absolutely atrocious and seemingly clueless about it?

Steam save sync is much better than the Epic Games store, or where you’d have to save manually, and you’re saved would be tied to the computer itself.
Ranking is easy to surpass, you just need to know how to get points (at least two gold emblems), and youre set. Player progress has two types, rank progression, and individual character progression. The goal of the system is to maximize flexibility, that way, you can set a certain survivor up to have all the perks, and level other survivors up on the way.
    P3 LVL. Fifty is more of a playtime thing. Most people with all P3 50’s likely have thousands of hours of playtime, or at the bare minimum, hundreds; or, they hacked it in, and is accounted by the anti cheat software they use. There’s some things you can change in the game (to your own risk), such as splash art for perks, or characters. The developers currently have their eyes set on five things;
    1. Optimizing the game.
    2. Trying new matchmaking systems
    3. Prepping for chapters, releasing content
4.Having to work with three consoles, and soon to be fourth, (That being, Nintendo),
    5. Balancing the game.
Most of the stuff they have now is relatively good, and it is in the works. New progression could cause a ton of issues, namely the progress on the characters will not translate, and the genuine consensus of the playerbase will have to start over. Steam Sync works fine as it does now, IMO. I personally haven’t had issues with it.

Are u coming back to the game just now or what? The save profiles are on their backend since a long time ago, i think it was implemented even before 2.0...

Btw, if u find someone who has a hacked save profile u can report them via a ticket on the DbD support and the mods will verify it pretty quickly, bans like that are usually handed in less than 48 hours.

Save files are not saved locally anymore, they are stored in the backend and have been for quite a while now. You cannot just swap out your save file for someone else's anymore.

You may have a copy of it in your files, but it will not do anything.

This has been the case since 7.3.2018, however..

There still is a way I have seen people with Steam accounts created in May 2018 and after having legacy clothing in-game.

No idea how that's done with save file being in the cloud server and never touching your local hard drive.
Maybe the server accepts specific requests to the save file or you can alter it on first time you launch your game if it checks for existing save files on your local hard drive.

I believe it was by messing around with the game files, AKA technically hacking to obtain them and is a bannable offense, such as Noob3 got for doing the same thing.

What you're talking about has been fixed since then. If you find someone that you think had cheated, you can send us a ticket at support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us and we'll take care of it.

I have used in-game reporting for those, where I write the Steam account creation date - most frequently they have a private Steam profile but that doesn't stop me from reporting them and finding the approximate date of account creation.

    Is ticket required?

In-game will work as well, but you can also do a ticket if it's someone you didn't play a match with (or in case you forgot to report them).

I must have missed it in the patch notes. I had a ticket in May of last year for a problem with my character progress and the final response from support was there was nothing they could do because they didn't store player data and can't help remotely. Looks like it was patched in June.....

Thanks for the info and glad it's fixed. Good work devs.
