How about finding EMPTY chests too?
That would make it more interesting, like a 30% of chance, support?

Absolutely :)
But I'd be quite satisfied if, as Plunderer's gives a very good chance of finding rarer items (including those goddamn keys), Scratched Coin and Cut Coin, in addition to their current effect would also reduce the chance of getting an item of high rarity.

As a killer perk, offering, or add-on that causes some kind of debuff when you open those empty chests, maybe. As a base mechanic, no.

I think finding empty chests is not that much powerful to require offerings or w/e

Instead of making them empty, how about putting a middle finger in them.
That way is better.

Better an audio: "pretty good job so far"

OMG THAT'S SO BEAUTIFUL MAKE IT HAPPEN
Too bad they are taking their game so seriously, I would love to hear that when I see an empty chest.

@BACKSTABBER I'm afraid "Pretty good job so far" wouldn't really work. You see, that phrase is associated with bugs, but this would be an intended feature. You'd do far better to have the empty chests say: "Play something else."

lol true I didnt work out the idea THAT much
let me fix ur sentence: "Play civ 5"

I'm not a fan of empty chests, but a huge fan of trapped chests or mimics. These would put you into the Injured status, but not down you if you were already injured to make it fair. Maybe the Entity creates look-alikes for the survivors, and attacks them directly.

That would be pretty annoying but a comment here gave me an idea. It would be super sweet if the killer's coin offerings were secret and gave 100% chance of finding nothing in chests. This way you have a previously useless offering that is now very useful and also fun to play against cause of the secret element (you would be searching chest before finding out there is nothing there and other people would think there's a mori)

Me too but that chest trap should come with a new killer, or maybe a tiny one inside lol

I like ur revamp, killer coin, all chests empty

Would Plunderer's Instinct reduce that percentage back to 0?

Jack-In-The-Box :D A scary puppet pops out of the chest. Item or no item, but it gives a nasty sound and notifies the killer.

It's a neat idea but not sure if it would work out as intended.
The problem the game faces with such a change is already making players open chests as they are a way to take them off gens, if it became a maybe chance then they may not bother with them and just skip them altogether.

Chests are secondary objectives that slow gen repairing, a survivor searching a chest is a survivor not doing gens, same with dull totems.
People dont really search them because they are not very useful, if you make them even worse noone will search them which means even faster generators.

Makes sense. How about balancing that with new epic-scale items only found in chests and not bring-able when survive?
Baseball bat, American football helmet, broken shotgun, spray pepper, taser, air horn, rusty katana, camo suit, pizza slice...

Chests should NOT BE CONSIDERED OBJECTIVES.
They are not a good way of padding game time. they take almost no time to search, it's like mending. fine on paper, useless in action for game slowing. A secondary objective should be like, finding a part for a gen before repairing it.
I had an interesting pirate killer idea once. He spawns cursed chests. These chests have purple items in them, but act like Thrill of the Hunt. Slower search time, and alerts the killer.
This could be an interesting perk idea since it not only actively baits the survivors into getting off the gens with guaranteed good items, it alerts the killer as to what is happening so he can react.

Perhaps if with the chances of finding an empty chest, you increase the chance of getting a rare or better item.

Its not only the time searching that slows the survivor is also the time it takes for him to get to the chest, search it and go back to a gen, it might take 20/30 seconds easily (which is a third of a generator).
They are not a very good secondary objective because the contents usually suck unless you have Ace in the Hole so not a lot of people uses them, if you were to make them even worse noone except very new players would use them.
Totems are a better secondary objective because noone likes NOED and they dont make a ton of noise if you stop cleansing them halfway through.
P.D. they are not supposed to stop genrushing since a team that wants to do it will ignore everything and go straight for gens even if it costs them a NOED but totems and chests do slow down average teams.

If you play trapper there should be a trap in one of the chests and there should be a perk where you could destroy chests also.

that's why I made the suggestion of the perk that makes chests cursed. Guaranteed good items, but a longer search and an alert for the killer. The chests would look different, and probably sparkle, to draw the eye and tempt.

Oh SNAP

Even better: Make chests have a 30% chance of being a mimic. If it is a mimic, the survivor gets moried if they open the chest.
2 -
I actually laughed hard at this

Final Fantasy player?
I'm picturing FFX Omega Dungeon right now
(Maybe not moried, but put into the dying state!) LOL

There are mimic chests in dark souls too.

This is a non issue. Seriously, of all the things to address, chest loot is not on that list. I have had only 1 key escape from a chest in the past month. Adding this effect to coins would be rediculous. How would you feel if the survivor coin offerings gave a 30% chance of 2 rare items as well as more chests?
That sound fair?
Both sound insane to me. Chests are fine. Fix the more important crap.

But like why? Just like the dev said if there’s only small chance there’s something in a chest people would probably never do it just like how survivors usually never try to get off the hook by themselves I think finding certain things to them that can only Be found in chests would Be a great idea and Maybe even a better way to by more time could Be skill checks like a pig trap or having to wiggle like you’re actually searching for something
