When it's your first time on the hook?
Just curious really on other peoples thoughts -
So you've just been hooked by the killer, first time (stage 1) - Do you
a) Try for the 4% and get to Stage 2 faster
b) Not press anything and just look around to figure out what them yellow jelly babies are doing dancing in front of your eyes
c) Tap "Escape from hook" button when you are free to get and killer is around
d) Tap "Escape from hook" button when killer is camping your face as a warning to let ppl know not to bother coming and your sitting there just wasting his time so ppl can Gen up and escape.
Personally if you do A - I tend to not bother coming to save you, but that's just my personal preference.

I hang around waiting, in the hope that someone is going to come to save - if the killer is camping me then I'm not going to suicide on the hook, I'll buy the other survivors as much time as possible in order for them to have more chance of survival.
I'm a pretty altruistic player though, I will die to rescue someone and if there is a possibility to make a safe save I will usually risk myself to do it.

Do you ever tap the button to raise your arms in the air as a warning not to come or a call to be rescued as its safe to do so?

I must admit I do.
It was the signal in the beginning that if you are flapping your arms on the hook, then don't rescue because the killer is camping, if you are just hanging there - it is safe to make the save.
Although that seems to be pretty much forgotten now, 2 years after release, I just do it out of habit.

I do it as a way of communicating that killer is camping or close by, I also do it to say save me im safe there is no killer here. I can see why my team mates don't know whether thy are coming or going.

Well you guys are both lucky I’ve decided to run kindred because it’s rank reset and you know potato survivors and well I’m starting to see it’s a wasted perk slot because I’ve gotten farmed once and no one came to save me while the killer was chasing someone else on the other side of the map! And when a killer camps EVERYONE has been waiting next to the hook
but while I’m on the hook I’ll stay put unless the killer camps then I move my arms up and down and I’ll even struggle for the longest I can. But if there is one survivor left and the killer has bbq and the survivor is on the other side of the map I’ll give them hatch0 -

if no gens are done and no one is even attempting to do one I’ll go for the 4%
if it’s a camper I just hang as long as the rest are doing gens, if they are all creeping about the hook without the balls to even attempt I’ll go for the 4% and won’t struggle, the watch the reckage unfold.
i never do the waving thing

I just wait. If I know nobody is coming for me, or won't make it to me before I hit struggle phase, then I try the 4%.

I always hang around and let things play out on first hook. Giving your teammates more time to get coordinated or pound out gens is always a good thing. If I suicide, something has gone terribly wrong and I want out.

I kinda like doing B, whether the Killer camps or not.
Let them figure out what the Killer is doing.
Though sometimes i'll feel kind and throw on Kindred + Open-handed.1
