Hollowed Blight: what am I missing?

Last year’s Holloween event was very interesting and different. What happened to the pustula petals in the map, serum and other specials? All is see is jack-o-lanterns on the gens? Am I missing something I’m supposed to achieve?

Serums are Archive rewards this year. Nothing special on the maps except some decoration - and the pustula offering that spawns more special gens/hooks that give a blood point bonus.

If you repair jack-o-lantern gens, or hook survivors and jack-o-lantern hooks you acquire way more blood points, and you can stack even more with the offering. If all 5 people bring an offering you can get a ton of BP even if you dont escape or 4k.

Probably because everybody complained about gens not getting done, for the serum being collected, they're trying something new.

Last year with the pustula petals, survivors abuse the hell out of them. So I don't miss them, at all. These passive blood points events are more like a game play.

I just wish you wouldn't depend that much of everyone bringing an event offering. So far pretty much I am the only one bringing them and not making much bp out of the event.

Let me quickly summarise this years Withering Blight event.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were numerous complaints about survivors suiciding on hooks after obtaining progress on the vials. Fundamentally, this was a design flaw in the earning of the vials; if players are purposefully failing their objective solely to be able to finish the event quicker, something needed to be changed. That's not any fun for the other survivors and the killer.

So this year, you instead earn your Putrid Serum through the newly implemented Rift (Battlepass) feature.

    • Every 800xp you earn (through playing the game), you gain a Rift Fragment.
    • Alternatively, completing challenges in the new Archive Tome feature will earn you either 3 or 5 Rift Fragments. Reaching the Epilogue of the Tome will grant you a bonus 10.
    • Once you collect enough Rift Fragments for the Rift tier you are currently on, you will go up a tier.
    • Every few Rift tiers, you will earn between 2-3 Putrid Serum.
    • One cosmetic item costs 10 Putrid Serum.
    • There's a max of 60 Putrid Serum in the Rift you can earn. Once you reach Tier 47/70, you will have earned all 60. This means you can obtain six different cosmetic items (or two full outfits).

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 'Pumpkin' Blighted Generators you mentioned are solely dedicated to granting Bloodpoints to all survivors, even if you didn't work on the generator at all.

    • If you brought the special Pustula Petal offering, you will earn an additional 3,000 Bloodpoints per Blighted Generator completed.
    • If you did not bring the Pustula Petal offering, you will only earn an additional 1,000 Bloodpoints per Blighted Generator completed.

The same applies for the Killer.

    • If you brought the special Pustula Petal offering, you will earn an additional 3,000 Bloodpoints per survivor impaled on a Blighted Hook.
    • If you did not bring the Pustula Petal offering, you will only earn an additional 1,000 Bloodpoints per survivor impaled on a Blighted Hook.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, survivors have the ability to earn two event unique items that only appear during the annual Halloween event; the All Hallow's Eve Lunchbox medkit and the Will O' Wisp flashlight.

The All Hallow's Eve Lunchbox is functionally identical to the standard First Aid Kit, while the Will O' Wisp is functionally identical to the the standard Flashlight.

Aesthetically, the Lunchbox has a orange paintcoat and adorned with a glowing green skull decal surrounded by pumpkins and bats. The Will O' Wisp shines a beam that's shaped like a cartoon ghost, as opposed to the standard flashlight beam.

The pustuals removed people from playing and some tended to kill themselves once it was full.

It would be a terrible idea to do this along with the archive challenges as it would be two ways to detract from playing.

I just wish the skins were actually tied to the event offerings by the means of getting the serum instead of them being part of the rift. The skins for myself are a huge part of any event and for them to no longer be that way and instead just a rift add-on makes it not feel so eventish but a marketing tool. It's understandable but quite disappointing at the same time.

There isn't any real incentive to play or buy the event offerings since the reward is the same as the price of them. I haven't seen anywhere near as many being played as past events and normally I am lucky to see the one I play. With dbp being on atm its also more beneficial to play a streamer or cake since the event offerings don't get the dbp.
