Legitimate Hatch Question
This is not a troll post, but a legitimate question.
Why do we need the hatch?
I play both killer (rank 8) and survivor (rank 3) and on both ends I hate the hatch. As a survivor it brings out the worst in people. I play with my girlfriend a lot and when one of us dies we spectate the other people. 9/10 when it's just 2 people left 1 person will actually try to do gens and the other person camps the hatch area. It's gotten to the point where if that happens I'll make noises near the other survivor hatch camping to let the killer know. It's incredibly frustrating knowing that when you die trying to survive the other person isn't even trying. Ever since they made it available even if you dont do a gen surivors have become even more cowardly. My mindset is that if I get destroyed in a match, oh well, I'll move on to the next one.
As a killer it's infuriating. I want a 4k, even if I dont need one to pip. It's like a survivor wanting to escape even though they will pip even if they die. It's the satisfying feeling of getting that 4k that makes me enjoy playing killer. I hate having to essentially slug every match now if I want a 4k because now hatch will even spawn if no gens are done. I've had matches where I do extremely well against sweaty survivors just to get a 3k from a hatch escape. I earned those kills so why am I getting punished for a random hatch spawn? I even prefer going back to hatch standoffs because atleast you only need to slug if they get to a certain amount of gens.
If the hatch needs to stay, atleast make it permanently closed unless you have a key. That would also give keys more power.
To summarize I don't like the hatch at all. Please help me understand a good reason why it is in this game.

To give the last survivor incentive to keep playing.

It's not even that hard to open the gates once hatch is closed if you know to do it. I have mixed feelings about it, because I can't say that as a survivor I don't enjoy an escape for being the one who managed to stay alive somehow.
Here my idea for the hatch, first of all remove keys and make it spawn only when you are the last survivor on the map and once it spawns let the killer see it's aura to give the killer the advantage he deserves.

The hatch is there for a few of reasons.
Firstly to end the game quicker. If there was not hatch it could become a stale mate and take a long time to end since a survivor could just hide trying to do gens.
You don't know who you are matched with and could play extremely well and still be killed due to the others not being that good. The hatch makes this less frustrating.
It gives hope at that point which in the lore the entity feeds off so it makes sense.
Balance. A 4k should difficult for a killer to get. Removal of the hatch and more 4k's would make killers seem stronger with the stats and probably lead to nerfs.

I play a lot DBD. It's hard to open the exit gate when the hatch is closed. Doors spawning close to each other pretty frenquently and you are screwed by killers with high mobility such a Billy, Spirit, Nurse. By stealthy killers (Pig, Ghostface, Myers). As killer (Leatherface), only one time the survivor manage to open the door and escaped.

I also play a lot. It's also hard to open them when you go against trapper, but other than that it's easy, just don't open it right away, stop opening it before the bar reaches de S of "escape" hide for a while (make sure you don't leave scratch marks) until you can hear the killer's terror radius fading away and then finish opening it. It's not that hard.

The hatch is a mixed bag for me honestly. When I play killer, I can guarantee someone will spot it's spawn point before the final gen has popped, and will be sure to camp it out once they escape me and I'm trying to moniter exits. As Survivor, it screws us over since you can guarantee 1 or 2 will sit in locker close to that hatch and wait for the final survivor on hook to die so they can use it. It is handy if the killer has wiped everyone out and you're the last standing and the exit isn't open yet, but at the same time, a lot of players will just sit and wait for you to die so they can just escape the second that skull appears on the hooked survivor. It's frustrating to see it happen, but I doubt anything will change with it anytime soon
