The exact issues this patch had on the PTB are still here - and now they're worse?
I'm going to try to keep this thread seperated into two main parts. One of them is about what i feel to be an objectively bad change and one i subjectively dislike.
Let's start by addressing the Exhaustion Change which i find to be objectively awful. It not only forces survivors into awkward behaviour right from the start of the game forcing them to slow walk to generators if they dont wanna have their sprint burst at a full cooldown after they stop to start repairing, it also MASSIVELY benefits tunneling, as you're guaranteed that sprinting survivor you're after will never ever regain their sprint perks. So, it would be objectively stupid of the killer, not to persistently tunnel the very first survivor they catch - as they wont get a second sprint burst all game, as long as you keep tunneling.
Furthermore, with Tinkerer providing a secondary mobile avenue of blocking borrowed time, (albeit a bit random but due to its current bugged state VERY consistently) semi-camping is now better than ever - especially considering that unless the hooked survivor went by over two thirds of the first phase, their exhaustion will most likely not be up as they are unhooked - meaning you get a much easier time tunneling them down again.
The increased pickup speed also means flashlight saves have become all but impossible unless you're dumb enough to press the spacebar while explicitely looking at someone with a flashlight in hand. Even sprinting in front of the killer with sprintburst will not blind him in time as the blinding time is EXACTLY IDENTICAL to the pickup animation. You might have as well deleted Flashlights from the game TBH. If a killer runs Brutal Strength or Fire Up blinding is now literally impossible at all times. I main doctor, i know being flashlighted by toxic last second swaps sucks, but this change goes too far. Not to mention the added saved time massively increases the map pressure for all killers - and once more unfortunately grants a bigger buff to the already S tier mobility killers i dislike playing. So even IF survivors had stayed at roughly the same power level, i'd be further behind the meta powercurve than i used to be. I really dislike tunneling and avoid it actively even if it hurts my game because i know how boring it is to just be tunneled down three times in a row on the other side and because most of the time it gets punished by genrushing.
Speaking of genrushing, let's get to the other side of this update - the changes to vision perks and tinkerer.
Oh boi. How do i put this in terms that don't count as developer bashing, while somehow clarifying that revealing survivors regularly and simultaneously disabling their primary warning mechanic for all killers (unless you're in their face swinging in which case they can probably see the red light) MIGHT not be a good idea for a game that is supposed to be HIDE AND SEEK.
Literally. Stealth is gone. Dead. Obliterated. You can not finish a generator past 85% without explicitely notifying the killer, regardless of how well you repair. The only counter is working in groups (preferably with Leader and/or toolboxes) to bypass those last 15% before the zero terror radius killer runs you over. It is ludicrously strong. I just played a game of hillbilly and i SUCK at hillbilly but i had absolutely no problems just chainsawing somewhere roughly close to a tinkered gen and then just getting a free swing at people without having a heart beat. So even if the perk wasn't bugged and going permanent (which is obviously insane) it's still really really bad design. Same applies to the changes to Bitter Murmur - i chainsaw sniped a Meg because i could simply see her Aura as a punishment for her completing a gen. That's not good gameplay for either side of that "interaction".
Overall i think this patch will achieve a total of three things:
- Increase the random power level difference based on maps even more than before - based on how easily reachable generators are. Indoor maps will be much stronger than before, with reveals doing less because generators are effectively harder to reach
- MASSIVELY incentivize tunneling due to the permanent disabling of sprint perks - ive already seen people running completely without them and just spamming 4 unbreakables and 4 decisive strikes as a "replacement"
- Vast reduction of gameplay intelligence for killers. If you can give yourself literal notifications on survivor positions via Tinkerer and Bitter Murmur repeatedly, the whole game aspect of stealth is voided. And with Flashlights effectively bad and Borrowed Time blocked by Tinkerer, people will just let people die on hooks to finish those tinkerer gens to force the killer to choose between finishing a kill and stopping the genrush. Playing altruistic may end up literally making a game unwinable if it means the killer gets too many Tinkerer procs off (especially if he can dip gens below that 85% threshhold via Pop goes the Weasel)
Conclusion: Im gonna go play some Trapper and Hag to try out the new buffs, they do seem quite fun. On the other hand i'll stay the hell away from survivor for the time being - even with SWF the amount of non helping you have to do now if you wanna get all the gens out only leads to fighting among our friends.
I wonder how quickly we can get killer lobby times to explode like they did two months ago
PS: This may sound like im a salty survivor overall - and i must admit, even though im a killer main, this patch does offend the survivor in me. It allows the worst of the worst killers to consistently find me and makes stealth almost impossible - i just don't know they're coming for me until i see the red light walk around a corner. Dead by Daylight has always been a game with a decent amount of information warfare and i've loved that aspect of it (guess why i became a doctor main, because he obstructs that information clarity and forces the survivors to display game knowledgeability). And this patch has tipped the scales of that information warfare way too far in one direction.

My killer queue times are fine, wasnt even able to write this line before I found a match.

Apparently you did not play the PTB. Because
1. Exhaustion is easy to recover still and will be ready after a hook no problem. Unless you somehow sprint the second before you get downed and then there is a slight chance. It regens while you are down and being carried and on the hook.
2. Your definition of tunneling is that a killer chases you around not stop for the whole game. Which makes no sense and a good killer will never need to do that to one survivor unless they want to lose miserably. There main job is to find you and take you down in under a minutes time so that they can move on to the next gen defense or survivor. Tunneling is when you come off the hook and they are there to chase you down again. The two biggest tips there are don't feed campers and work on Gens instead of hiding behind a hay bale for 60 seconds waiting on a save.
3. I don't get your point about Tinkerer. If a killer is camping and the team is working Gens like they should be. Then Tinkerer will either pull the camper away to save a gen which give space for a survivor save or he will stay there and the Gen will be lost.
4. I will agree that flashlight saves are tougher and you have to be stay more at risk. But they were simply too easy before.
5. It is true that if a killer is running Tinkerer that teamwork will be more important. Which in many peoples minds is a really good thing. Lone toxic survivors need to go away anyway. If you watch many survivor mains on twitch they have continually proved how easy and how boring survivor can be. Hide behind a Gen, wait until it's done, move to the next one....or get in a small chase, maybe even get hooked and resume (If not camped or Tunneled).
What this update does is increase, by a small degree, the pressure put on survivors during a match as well as promoting more teamwork from the survivor team. Both do a good job of balance and enjoyment of the game.

1. I think you need to Google objectivity vs. subjectivity. You "objective" areguments are entirely subjective.
2. Everything you said is completely subjective and in many cases factually incorrect, i.e. objectively wrong.1 -
Btw, I'm a rank 1 survivor now and it's ez-mode. I'm a killer main and haven't hit rank 1 yet, but casually play gets you rank 1 easily on surv mode. And I have never equipped SB or DS (don't even have that DLC).0
