Console optimization needs to be prioritized
Okay I've been playing since the update and I have never, ever had this much of a problem with my frame rate. The Halloween event menu is killing my Ps4, walking on Hawkins drops frames no matter what you do, bloodlust mid chase, you get the idea. The last noticable update was back on the End Game Collapse update and that was awhile back. Ever since the game has slowly been going back to how it was before that update.
I know it's not my Ps4 because it can run many games well.
In short, console needs to be optimized because it's just getting really bad.

I still remember thinking we would have 60fps on console last December. Man was I excited.

Also...let us put a mouse and keyboard on our consoles and play dbd.
The ps4 already recognizes it nativelly. Dont know about xbox and switch...

Its not only the frames anymore this update every single action is causing game stutters i either miss hits because i gained bloodlust which caused a stutter or the killer gained bloodlust and so hits me from round a corner etc laggy stuff that werent that bad before. But its clearly the game since just simply changing character or clicking bloodweb completely freezes the game for a few seconds.

Mouse and kb is considered cheating for some games on console. Fortnite for example i believe if you hook up mouse and kb you will play against pc players and if you try to swap once starting a game they just block it.
Besides with how bad it is why would you want to play mouse kb on this lol just play pc altogether better experience lol

#PCMasterRace
Ok in all seriousness, yeah they need to optimize this game.

The lobby during this Halloween event has been insanely laggy, from dropping frames to down right freezing.
I have the Xbox One X and DBD is the only game it struggles to play, well besides breakpoint but that games straight trash.
Patch soon pls devs

Stop flexing on me I'm poor D:
This helps somewhat. I mean it doesn't solve the entire problem but it does help somewhat. Still though, I shouldn't need to close an app multiple times just so it can works decently.
Man I was excited to. Fingers crossed that year 4 will bring some more optimization ?

Any update on this? @Peanits @MandyTalk

I don't play on PS4 but absolutly stand behind you, BHVR has to optimise!! This has to be highest priority, and not skins and DLCs. Yeah, even if that means that bhvr loses money, it's better for them in the long run since then people will enjoy dbd more and eventually will be more willingly to spend money into dbd.

No issues here. Just occasional bloodweb frame drops.

I'll trade you your Ps4 for a packet of Pokemon cards and some Skittles. Deal?

Only thing I’ve noticed is the game occasionally freezing for a second when you start dropping a pallet at the same time the killer lunges.

First, it's Xbox, 2, it better be shiny charizard

I think they will prioritize what brings them more money, not necessarily consoles. That's how capitalism works, you can complain with Adam Smith if you will...

Since the update ive been noticing the game actually running and looking better but im on xbox. That might be it, they updated the graphics and it messed with the game (which i hear happens because devs usually make the game for the pc version and xbox is similar structurally or something, or at least that was the excuse i heard for skyrim running poorly on ps3) which means they'll def fix it......it might be during the next chapter though since they don't seem too quick on these fixes but at the very least you'd think they could revert it or something until they have a fix

You know it's bad when two trusted members are saying something about console FPS! ??
4 -
Me and you both. My frames drop the most on maps with weather (Red Forest and Ormond) although they drop as well on Hawkins. ESPECIALLY with Hag.
Sometimes it’s so laggy that I can barely move my “cursor” while doing my bloodweb.
A lot of time when I get bloodlust my games pauses for a second and my character turns around in a direction I wasn’t facing. Yeah...console is terrible.
I’ve gotten messages that people call me boosted for missing swings. Well...how about you play Hag on Coldwind with your frames dropping and a possible memory leakage. Not exactly a fun time.
Console players need more love.

There are probably more players per day on consoles.

The game lags so hard on ps4 you can taste it. Soon as I start the game the fan kicks on, it sounds like a jet engine prepping for takeoff. I’ve also noticed when I play killer the game freezes for about a half a second when I get close to survivors at the beginning of a match. It’s a giveaway that I’m in the right area, kind of like a built in whispers. I’ve also noticed since the hallowed blight event that the red needle on the skill checks moves faster or slower depending on how much lag you’re getting, it’s very inconsistent and it makes it much harder to get in that zone where you’re nailing great skill checks.

hopefully soon

I know right ?

I haven't noticed any FPS problems until after the Archives update.
However, it's not in-game problems, it's mainly the lobby running at 3 FPS (I was able to count my FPS, it was that bad). :(

No issues on Xbox for me.

Well PC also needs optimization to be honest. The entire game needs optimization.
I don't have a killer rig so my frame rates have gotten really bad. They've never been great but they're even worse now. And yes the campfire is like a slide show. I don't understand what they did but it's a joke. I can't even spend bloodpoints in lobby now the 1 minute wait time is over before I can even finish a bloodweb.
If you have a super killer rig the game probably runs "fine" but not everyone on PC has a killer rig.
2 -
They have to realize that the game has to be playable to make them money.
People are gonna stop playing if the game turns into a slideshow.
I have actually stopped playing DBD after finishing Level 1, usually I play DBD every day but I'm sick of the performance. I been spending my time playing Overwatch and Kiling Floor instead.
2 -
Unfortunately, a huge part of this has nothing to do with the memory leak.
The lags/freezes have been in the game for a much longer time.
But it's crazy and sad that even the menu is laggy now.
2 -
Damn, it's getting bad for PC as well? That's a shame honestly :(
1 -
I'm sure some people don't notice, the once with good PCs. A modern PC I think can handle it without too much fuss.
But the game has consistently gotten worse over the past year with the two engine updates. Ever since the Legion patch things have actually gotten slower rather than faster, which is a shame.
I've had to lower my resolution down and down with each patch. But its' gone as low as it'll go on my rig. Pretty soon I'll need to buy a new PC just to play this game. Which is pretty ridiculous considering I can run a much more graphically impressive game like Overwatch at 120fps without problems.

Before I got my PC built I would play dead by daylight on console quite frequently on PS4 and I 100% agree with console optimization needing to be sorted out. Doctor was AWFUL to play on PS4, sometimes when I would try to hit a survivor my fps would literally go to 0. Bloodlust triggering makes the game stutter and the stranger things map is apparently really bad in terms of fps from what I've heard. If the devs ever think about cross platform then they would need to fix this first before thinking about that.
0 -
Agreed. The game needs console love in terms of optimization. The fact that there's a memory leak making you HAVE to restart your console to make it go away is a bit absurd. Wish the developers would be more open to discuss about it.
1 -
Ha good luck getting any optimization. PC still has issues. Well way less then console plebs but it still happens. Just wait tell we get cross platform play then all the work they did down the drain with optimizing dbd.

Don't know why they even made console versions when PC isn't even fully optimized

Where's the promised PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhanced patches? That's what I want to see!
0 -
I've accepted bloodlust lag as a feature at this point.
2 -
It's for survivors to have counter play against a killer walking
0 -
I know some streamers with very strong hardware experiencing the same freezing and lagging issues since the update.
0 -
@Peanits Where are the 60 fps or at least the fixed framerate my good sir. DbD is very hard to play with those drops.
0 -
Oh yeah! Killing Floor 2 has also actually gotten a little slower over the years but it's mostly due to all the added cosmetics. And that game takes forever for the initial load.
But once in game kiling stuff it's smooth as butter.
0 -
I doubt. My girlfriend plays on PS4 and her lobby queue is noticiably longer...
0 -
big oof that the strongest existing Xbox console can't even run DBD well.. I have one too but refuse to repurchase DBD cause I have it on PC.
The optimization definitely needs to happen.
1 -
I've never had an issue.
0 -
Yeah and then people wanna spam your messages calling you a boosted killer because your game lags out and drops FPS.
I swear I’ve had so many instances where I’ve gone through the survivor vaulting and lagged out and hit the wall next to the vault.
If becomes unbearably bad on corn maps especially because I’m corn blind as hell.
