Gen Tapping

Gen tapping is probably the worst strategy to use against ruin. I don't understand why you just can't power through? It's much faster even if you can't hit the great skill checks. If there is a fellow gen tapper out here please explain the power behind gen tapping. The way i power through is just holding m1 until a skill check comes up. If i hit a great, the that's great I'll keep going. But if i hit a good skill check and the gen gets zapped i stay still for 3 seconds until the gen is able to continue progress again. This prevents other skill checks from appearing while the gen is already hit by a good skill check. This can prevent the gen from continuously getting ruined. But by gen tapping, the progress you make overtime is so slow that it's just not really worth it. and yes you won't get skill checks but you will still lose a tremendous amount of time.

I prefer if teammates tap rather then fail skillcheck after skillcheck

I've got to the point where I'm fine with Ruin skill checks...unless the killer is also using a tiered up Lullaby hex.

Same if they are missing them over and over again, I’d rather they gen tap if they know how to do it correctly.

I'd rather see a team mate tapping rather than running around looking for the totem wasting way more than 3 minutes. At least progress is done, and can pay off at the end of the match.

It makes sense when several people work on the same gen and they can't hit Ruin skill checks at all.

Because proper gen-tapping only loses you like 30 seconds or so which is around 4 failed skills checks.

And I mean proper as in 17-18 points per tap with very quick reflexes on those taps. I'm not sure of the exact number but I think 19 points has a chance of blowing up where 17 or 18 will give you a beep but no explosion. If you just spam tap, you end up adding an extra minute or so and if you're not quick on continuous taps you also add extra time which adds up to taking forever on a gen that you could have failed around 10 times and still be ahead.

I think people should power through so they can get better at greats so that they can hit them when ruin is gone but if gen-tapping is done properly, you don't lose all that much time. Most people don't do it properly though. I also tap if it's around 80-90% and the game feels like spamming me with skill checks.
