Is Self Care making a comeback?
I've been seeing alot Self Care users lately. Is it just me? Or is Self Care becoming meta again?

It's been consistently popular in my experience. But I don't play SWF so obviously it benefits solos more.

I'd use Iron Will over it - but I'd have to have it at tier 3 for it to be truly useful which would require pumping points into my survivors :P

I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen it. Then it seemed like it was suddenly everywhere.
Yeah. Iron Will is fantastic.

Iron Will is fantastic on PC, but I don't see it run much on PS4 because far fewer players use headsets. When you just have stereo speakers, its super hard for the killer to locate your grunt.

I dropped Self Care for Bond four months ago and I haven't looked back.

Well i dont play self care anymore since inner strength was introduced. I got bored by SC and wanted to try something new. Positive side effect: i rarely run into NOED.
From my killer games i would say iron will has a huge comeback. It is very strong if used the right way and probably the only viable perk versus spirit.

I prefer using a common kit every game I have 50 of them so

I can't say that I was seeing more Self Care users recently. But if they bring Self Care with all of these anti healing builds becoming more popular, then they just hurt themselves massively.

I have seen more in my experiences, in the last 3 days.

In my experience it's always been popular even after the nerf.
Lots of people are still using it even in red ranks. You will probably never see a game with all four (or three, because I never count myself I never use it) packing it at red, but this isn't an uncommon sight in the lower ranks.
So while it's not exactly making a "comeback" it's better to say it was "never really gone."
Much to my annoyance, people will still self care themselves for half a minute while you happily die on the hook. Usually after they took a dumb protection hit while you were being carried to the hook.

I like the feeling of self sufficiency since sometimes I play with such potatoes that I can't rely on anyone but myself. Also it's not a bad perk as many would like everyone to believe but rather it requires game knowledge to know when to use it and when to not use it.
Although it can't be truly meta since SWF really doesn't need it. But for solos it's pretty amazing.

I'm a lone player most of the times, and i do not want to rely on anyone... That usually gets me F'ed. That said i will say I'm thinking about putting bond to find someone to heal me but again.... I like to not need others.
That said, if you're hooked and I'm healing, it means I'm almost done. No point on rushing a save after the first seconds, and get caught by the killer and at best do an exchange. I got we'll make it, hold on to your socks, I'll get you unhooked and healed in 10 seconds total.

So true. It’s almost better to just play on mute on console if you don’t have a headset lol. You can’t pinpoint direction for anything
i dished out and got Arctis Pro Wireless for PS4. Not great on bass, but perfect for dbd

It never went away in my experience.

If I use it I use it with botany knowledge + Resilience so its faster

I haven't seen it much (thank god) in my red ranked game. Gen rushing is still the best strategy for survivors so Adrenaline or Inner Strength is much more common.
I'm about to play some games though, so I'll see how many people take SC.

I've been wondering. I've seen it alot in the red and purple ranks lately.

Could be because of the archives. I know I used it for one of the challenges.

That's because noobs manage to get to higher ranks now. I can't think of any good player using sc

I forgot that this perk exist lol

I mean. It's not bad when combined with Botany.

I still slot it if I have it. If nothing else, it makes the medkit I bring along last longer and gives me the means to get back to full if my teammates are otherwise occupied.

Except Botany will let you heal others quicker as well. It might not be the most efficient route. But the combo is better then you're giving it credit for.

Ever since the Emergency Medkit changes I can see it being viable again. It fell out of the meta due to the healing nerf, making self care much slower. But if they can speed it up again without any accompanying perks, it might just make a comeback. In fact, a fun build I've been running is Pharmacy + Self Care.

Self care screws everyone even the guy running it. I see so many people self caring instead of doing something important. Like for example one of my games all gens are done. Three of us left and I'm slugged while the obsession is getting chased and the other guy is self caring instead of opening a gate. We all died and the guy caring for himself killed us all. He had time to open the gate by they way because he got the self care off while the obsession was looping the killer. I just see it hurting people because they self care at the most inappropriate times it drives me nuts!! Death to self care!!!!!

I've seen it a bunch at red and purple ranks. That's what I've found surprising.

I don't think you are looking at the big picture. That's fine, it's not abundantly obvious to everybody.
Assume that both you and a teammate are free to do a gen, but you are injured.
Heal time if you heal yourself with SC (50% heal speed penalty) is 32 seconds. Heal time if your teammate heals you is 16 seconds.
With those facts in mind, let's assume you heal yourself and you teammate works the gen. You just got 32 seconds of player time on a generator at 100 percent efficiency on the gen as your teammate could work uninterrupted.
If your teammate doesn't do the gen and heals you, then you both heal the generator for another 16 seconds, the generator got two people doing the gen for 16 seconds which is arguably 32 seconds worth of player time (16 from each player) at 90% efficiency each.
So really, it's really not losing time if you heal yourself. Arguably, you progres the gen less if you run up to a player on a gen to get healed, then help them when your done due to the loss in repair effency each player suffers when multiple players work a gen.

I use self care because most teammates are garbage

Come back? It never left, had at least 1 use it every game since like, forever

Interesting how people are putting down those who use SC when it's frankly no better than getting healed by others in time lost. (see my post several posts up)
