What is the purpose of the thumbs up/down button?
I've been playing a LOT of huntress lately. (Rank 7 atm for killer, not high I know). Only recently have I experienced how bad it really is getting gen rushed (why dont I get these survivors when I play survivor?) I play nice often more than not. (Not camping, if I see someone got farmed off hook I dont tunnel them...this one might be my mistake but I feel bad knowing how it can feel sometimes.) Sometimes kill 2 -3 sometimes all, but those games I dont kill anyone, why do they insist on sitting at the gate and teabagging? I can understand people doing it if killers played like a jerk (example: standing in front of a hooked body and nodding their head or shaking it, or hitting their body after they finally get hooked.) Totally deserves a teabag. When I play survivor I only stay if there is a person who's thrown on a hook. If not I dip as soon as I can get out. (Mainly in fear of them DCing because some people really cant take a lose...) I dont get why they have to sit there and teabag around. Or send me a message on ps4 telling me I suck. I dont do that...why do people gotta be jerks. Take the win and leave. Some people will still sit there until that clock is literally a hair away from going off. Its obnoxious.
I dont even feel like the thumbs up and down button does anything about people doing stuff like this. I feel like it's only there to make you feel like theres at least SOMETHING. Does this button actually do anything? We have the options to put toxicity etc on there but I feel like it gives the devs 0 feedback.

This is how you report people in-game.

But what good does reporting for "unsportsmanlike behavior" even do?

I imagine those categories probably just sort the reports into different buckets that Behaviour can review. I don't think we're meant to have clear insight into the process, because if we understood exactly how the reporting system works, bad actors would be able to game it.

Makes sense but i mean what does reporting someone do anyways... I always thumbs down dcs but whats the point?

Like I said, they take action on it, and we just have to trust that all the worst malcontents get handled by these reports. Disconnects are automatically tracked, and they eventually ban people who do it habitually.

why dont I get these survivors when I play survivor?
Because they don't play solo.
