Is it me or is the performance EVEN WORSE after this hotfix !?
As in title. The performance already took a major dip after the archive's release, but it seems like it's even worse after today's patch. Don't get me wrong, I very much understand how difficult it is to optimize a game properly, especially when it's your first project that has (understendably) spaghetti code and it's growth exceeded expectations tremendously, but there is a limit as to what is acceptable. I should not be having dips to 50-60 fps on a 1080TI in a game like Dead By Daylight. I can't imagine what it has to be like for people who play on older pc's or consoles. You told us numerous times that performance will keep getting better over time, but it seems quite the opposite to me.

Yes it's worse. @Peanits framerate is horrible.

Agreed. Sometimes i feel like game is about to crash. When I move, FPS drops 40s, if I am in a building it's at 20s.

Same xD lmao I have even more freezes when something happens (killer injures someone, I use DH etc) and everything feels more sluggish. GG I guess "hotfix" made things even worse. How can this even get released unnoticed...

Your surprised by this
0 -
Well... looking forward to seeing how it is on ps4
"Heavy sigh"

Try playing on a Red Forest map on console. You get about 15 FPS. Good times.

Fixed an issue that caused characters to jitter around in the match when playing with uncapped FPS.
By capping the framerate
🙃

it's clearly not you. the devs are incompetent
2 -
Also is it just me or does it take even longer to find matches now?
0 -
I was about the say the same. It took me ages to find a lobby as survivor
0 -
yep, get cucked by hitboxes waaaaay more often now

I totally agree. It’s like this freezes are totally killer friendly. I just freeze in front of a window. 1 sec later im already hooked up. This freezes making everyone dc on like every game I had today.
ps4.

Since the update for the event and archives the game looks so much better, my fps hasn't taken a hit either.

If you want to know how spaghetti the code, just remember that this game somehow grew to astonishing 28GB memory.
How is this game so big with such ugly graphics, and small maps? It makes no sense.

i used to play on low but had to switch on Ultra cause for some reason ultra works better now. only skill checks are bit ######### but i guess it's my ######### 1050ti so makes sense.
yet it's still trash just not as trashy

right??? i just got Hunt:Showdown, basically this year's game. and it runs on smooth 58-60 fps for me and all works well.
however dbd overheats my poor Omen laptop :c and makes it do loud noises.
it was alright before Legion chapter though. before the previous engine change.

Unless they changed it I'm pretty sure you can see a killer's red stain through walls only on low settings so there's a pretty big advantage to keepin em low.
0 -
do you guys have the blurr disabled in the engine settings? or do u play without any adjustments? because in normal play there is a blur on low settings because of anti alialising
0 -
I have a 1060.
60fps locked, still.
0 -
You are not doing yourself any favors playing on anything other than Low settings. Red stain bleeds through walls more, some grass areas don't render on Low (see Traps better), and better frame rates just to name a few benefits.

I mean, I play the game on Ultra too, just because I like the way it looks more. Doesn't excuse the performance though (I know that's not what you're talking about, Im just reminding people xD)

Could be your processor, EAC disables priority changes in task manager but there's a way to set it to high to fix this issue.
0 -
They apparently removed that thank god
0 -
It's not removed. It says it's removed in the patch notes but me and a friend tested it and they still bleed through just a much as before.
0 -
Yes, there are only disadvantages to play on Ultra. Low is meta.

This!! Even extremely graphics heavy open world games need less space, this is just not acceptable anymore

Hello, is it possible to have a video that show the performance issue and also which platform (I guess PC and PS4 from what I see and what about Xbox ?)
We are going to bring that up to our morning live sync.
Thanks!

Xbox is actually really really bad at the moment
Playing Demogorgon on Hawkins drops the FPS really low
0 -
It also sometimes doesn't close properly, forcing you to use the Task Manager to close it.

just record a video guys, that's what he asked :).
I don't see any differences on PS4 tbh.

Playing on pc and after the update FPS are unplayable,i'd love to get old engine back [*]
0 -
For me on pc is almost unplayable, im forced to close the game after 3-4games because it start getting laggy (from task manager) for dont mention the infinite loading screens

Xbox is pretty bad too. My FPS drops pretty bad on the menu alone. I play a lot of killer and survivor. It’s about just as bad on both killer and survivor. I don’t know my average frame rate on Xbox rn, but if I could guess it is between 15-40 FPS. 40 if I’m lucky.

What is your cpu?I have the same gpu but the fps goes down to 40-50s when I look at a fire and it drops hard on some maps especially.
0 -
I'm on PS4. My FPS on the menu, loadout, and lobby screens take a significant hit after I finish a single Killer game. It carries over to any additional Killer matches that I play. Just getting in a chase, activating Bloodlust, or swinging at a Survivor can cause major FPS drops. It's been doing this since the release of 3.2.0.

This game is unplayable for me at the moment. I think you should update the game's system requirement in Steam because if you continue updating this engine basically in a short time i will have to buy another gpu and cpu to play this game? i mean its the first time seeing this, about getting a game and after some patches my pc get "old" with the same game....

If I remember correctly, someone told me the last update had a memory leak (according to what @NoShinyPony told me and correct if I'm wrong Shiny). ?
0 -
Since we (as the community) don't have the code, we can't know for sure but the symptoms heavily point into the direction of a memory leak. I'm sure the devs already heard about this assumption because a lot of people are saying this.
However, the assumed memory leak is not the only problem. Frame drops and lags have been a big issue for a long time, the last update only made it worse.
On PS4, there is always a lag when a status gets added (for example: Mangled caused by Sloppy B, Exposed because of a perk or Michael tiering up, Bloodlust kicking in etc.) or when an animation happens for the first time (first hit, sometimes even first time searching a chest). This is nothing new.

I am on PC. For example I used to get constant 60 fps while in dream world since the 3.3.1 update. And now after the hotfix 3.3.2, the moment I went into the dreamworld fps drops to 40s. Here is a example of fps change before and after waking up
5 -
The game has been running much smoother for me. Loved the engine update.
0 -
I don't want to impose but can I ask your pc specs?
0 -
I also just don't understand. How on earth is it possible that I can play Battlefield 5 von High settings with solid 60 FPS on 64 Player Conquest Large Multiplayer Map... And DBD struggles with frame drops and around 50 to 60 FPS playing at medium Graphics settings. Devs how do you even do this??
2 -
Yup. Dedicated servers gameplay is exactly like ps4.

I mean, it's understandable since they were newbies back in the day, with all the money they have though they could propably try rewriting the game's code, it would make the game run SOO much smoother and there would be SOO few bugs you'd be astonished, but I doubt it's ever going to happen, too much of a commitment if you can just release a dlc, which will take a fraction of the work and get so much more income out of it,
