Games you simply found too frustrating to finish.

As the title says. Name and shame, your opinion of course.

For me, The Forest jumps immediately to mind. Feels like a chore, difficult, grinding...tries to be too realistic and just comes off as frustrating.

Shame as I was looking forward to it but found playing it highly irritating. Could of been so much more.

It is atmospheric but unfortunately not enjoyable.

    Bloodborne

  • Saw 2 Flesh and Blood.

Literally the worst game I have ever played.

    Superhot.

I finished it at the cost of my sanity.

Getting Over It --- I'm normally super calm and never rage, this game tested me to the max on that!

I thought Saw 2 was a step backwards from the original.

The quicktime combat was lousy in comparison to the first Saw game's fight mechanics.

Ok, I'm basically breaking the rules right now but a game that I finished recently that honestly gave me a much harder time then expected was the REmake. The crimson heads and hunters where much more beefy then expected and it doesn't help I had low or zero ammo during parts.

  • That and the puzzles were just bloody awful, the amount of matching puzzles and recycled content made it a came that I literally couldn't finish out of frustration and bordem.

Does it count if I quit from anticipating the frustration?

I remember quitting Getting Over It not from being frustrated, but simply knowing where it was going.

Not sure if uninteresting == frustrating here, but...

Fallout 3. I loved NV and tried to love this one just as much, but it was just a very boring game to me. I made it about an hour out of the Vault before losing all interest.

Fallout 4. See above. I did like it quite a bit more than 3, but on the whole I reached the same conclusion that it was just a really boring. In NV, I felt rewarded when I went exploring... in this one, I could walk around for an hour and find nothing and read nothing interesting. Repeat 20 times until you realize you're it' never going to get better. This one I think I made it through about half of the story before losing interest.

Rise of the Tomb Raider. And again, same as the above more or less. The 2013 remake was great, the second game took to heart too much of the (misplaced, imo) criticism and cut out a lot of things that worked so well before. The game just felt sterile and soulless.

For pure frustration: Mirror's Edge has this whole deal of depending on quick movements and perfect timing, a lot like those platformers that went out of style a long time ago. For a good reason. Dying at the same segment over and over with little actual help to figure out what you're doing wrong gets really old, really fast.

And this one doesn't count because I did eventually cheese my way past it, but I need to give an honorable mention to Dead Space 2 and the idiots who decided to cap off an amazing game with that absolutely irritating final boss.

If I combed back through childhood, I'd have a lot more examples. I'm sure there were a lot of handheld and console games that became too annoying to ever finish. Off the top of my head, Digimon World 3 with its insane amount of backtracking (From A to B, 30 mins away, to C, 30 mins away, back to A, back to C, back to B, back to A...), grinding, and absurd length is one game you would have to pay me to play all the way through. And it wouldn't be cheap...
