Rin's dad = I'll be mad
Just saying before it's called one way or the other. It would be such a terrible redundant addition to the game if they added Rin's dad as KILLER.
Survivor? Yes please. Let us chase that murdering PoS and stab him a few times for what he did to his family. But if he's the Killer... Come on. Rin's lore stated he was passed over in favour of Rin, promising her revenge... so, what? Did the Entity change its mind? Did it just lie to her? How does any of this work and why am I quickly not caring? Don't take a huge dump on your lore right as soon as you start to focus on it through tomes, BHVR!!
Smh, I was honestly so hyped for the next original Killer (or even the Nun) to be revealed, but now I'm dreading it. I'm really hoping they don't add pointless Spirit 2.0 to the game, that would absolutely SUCK.

would be interesting to have him as a survivor first time a survivor is actually a terrible person
39 -
nah, rins dad would be badass, rin is a little annoying edgy asian girl who deserved to get destroyed by her dad, i hope they turn rin into a survivor and replace her with the dad so we can kill her like in the original trailer
21 -
Bold of you to assume the Entity is honest.
Seriously though, why would a katana be missing if he is going to become a survivor? And if he becomes a survivor, who is gonna want a play a normal salaryman who snapped and cruelly murdered his family like it was nothing? His story probably starts after Rin's "death" and as he is trying to kill himself in a traditional method, the Entity grabs him as well.

Do you need a hug? *hugs anyway*
23 -
no, what i need is rins dad as a killer, i really wanted it to be him from that teaser over a year ago, it would be so badass running around with a giant katana
2 -
Is it bold? If the Entity is just BSing her, the Spirit would cease to exist. Spirit is literally a creature of pure rage, doing what she does only for vengeance. If her vengeance was eternally denied, the very thing that fuels her would no more, and she'd stop doing the Entity's bidding. She'd have no reason to. It would completely ruin her purpose. Vengeance is all she is, she isn't chasing Survivors she has no beef with for fun: It's all to get at her father. But if he was promoted to be her equal, she'd have no chance. And that would be really bad writing. And before you say "well he'd like torture her" she's already been through the worst pain imaginable, so terrible it inspired a hatred that persisted through death.
Also like I said, the Entity passed him over for Rin. What do you mean the Entity grabbed him as well?
6 -
lol play Rin then if your criteria for badass is "giant katana" (It's not even that big)
4 -
What if this is just bait, after the last few chapters being leaked I'm sure this time they are actively trying to mislead us
Just a thought

Rin's dad = I'll be glad

The Devs have said Killers are isolated from each other for... reasons. If Rin's dad was added, she wouldn't know. Let's say she did though and lost her drive to kill, the Entity would chuck her aside. Have you seen that new animation, the Hallowed Blight one that came with the Rift? I'll assume you have. Remember all those gray corpses? Those are the empty husks of both killer and survivor who have been bled dry by the Entity. You're looking at it likes it is a rational creature you can reason and bargain with. It is not. It wants food and it wants hunters. It doesn't care if the food gets sad, mad, or even happy. It doesn't care if the hunters don't like each other. If Rin were to stop killing for the Entity, it would be lack a need for her and it would not sweat to find a replacement, just as it has, thousands of times before. It's not a matter of if the Entity is BSing her, it is a matter of how long will she let it.

I would LOVE IT if we got Rin's dad as a killer and got a survivor version of Rin as well.
Since the Entity pulls killers and survivors from different time periods, pulling Rin from before the murders would be possible. It'd be amazing to be Rin and going against Spirit. An awesome mirror match!
4 -
Just because he is related to the Spirit ,doesnt mean he will be anything like her (if Rin's dad is added as a killer).
1 -
I am so confused. Can someone link me to wherever people got the idea that Rin's dad is going to be introduced to the game in the next chapter?

I was just bout to say this

Ah. Well... Thank God it's not Pennywise, at least.
11 -
I think if there is any pennywise stuff it'll be a special skin for the clown imo but who knows
0 -
I will be disappointed if it’s the Spirit’s dad too because they would be too similar as killers, and I would have no desire to play a survivor who murdered his family - And I know we already have pedophile demons and ######### serial killer clowns but idk it would just feel kind of squicky to have her dad in the game...like it’s glorifying what happened.
4 -
To be fair. It doesn't have to be the father. They showed us, that the entity can pull people from all time periods. It's possible, that a previous member of the Yamaoka family might be the new killer.
If you read about the Lore of the map, it tells you about the first of Yamaoka, who carried the Katana and was a fiercy warrior.
Or somebody who moved into the residence afterwards, and might have turned mad or something. That's possible as well. Or we are dealing with somebody who just took the Katana for some reason unrelated to Spirit and the map. A thief maybe...
Technically there are few more possibilites.^^
3 -
It's not her dad.
It's too obvious and the devs are anything but obvious when it comes to new killer teases.
Look past the obvious and you'll see what I see...

how dare you use my tricks against me
1 -
I really hope this is not happening
0 -
So by that logic, Rin will stop trying and they'll, what, delete her from the game? I don't think so. They can either take a dump on her established lore by adding her dad as a Killer, or, you know, do literally anything else
1 -
What if it isn't Rin's dad? What if it is a killer that hadn't had any weapon prior to visiting the entity's realm. Visiting the family estate and picking the first weapon they found.
1 -
I'd rather cut up the abuser, tbh... also imagine Spirit chasing Rin lmao.
0 -
Will you share your theory later in some form or will you keep it for yourself??
0 -
I do have something further to add, actually, and that's just to point out that Rin's lore says nothing about her dad being "passed over". All it says is that the Entity made a pact with her as she lay dying. So it's not really fair to say that introducing her dad as a killer would contradict or conflict with Rin's lore in any way. No comment on whether it's a good idea to add him to the game, but lorewise, there's no reason why the Entity shouldn't have made a pact with him at the same time.

Other than the Entity promising her blood and revenge, and her making an oath, yeah, they'd have to undo the thing that made her a killer to include her dad in-game in a way where he is NOT a survivor.
0 -
Why, though? The thing that made her a killer was rage at her father and a desire for revenge. I don't see how making him also a killer would diminish that in any way from a lore perspective. It's not like they'll ever cross paths during a trial.
0 -
...really? She was promised revenge. That means she wants to hurt him. If he was a Killer, he would be empowered, and her vengeance would be denied. "It's not like they'll ever cross paths during a trial" which ruins her lore.... i mean, come on. Why set it up if it's going to be totally disregarded/dumped on? That's the definition of bad writing, set up demands payoff.
Also let's not forget, she's a yuri, isn't she? vengeful spirit. You can't really be a vengeful spirit anymore if your vengeance is denied: She would lose her identity and will to exist.
1 -
I still don't see how it ruins her lore. The fact that she was promised vengeance doesn't mean vengeance was ever enacted. In fact, the fact that she's still motivated by her rage implies that it wasn't. And as long as she never sees him again, she's going to keep feeling that way and allowing it to motivate her killing.
0 -
Its definently dwight turning to the dark side as the next killer xD
0 -
Lore wise, yeah, if she really refuses to kill for the Entity she won't be used by it anymore. Gameplay wise, no, she'll be in the game. Remember, you have to pull apart the story the Devs are telling and the actual game. Look at Overwatch, it's the same deal. Why is so and so fighting so and so? It's a game.
0 -
I'm astounded lol. "The fact that she was promised vengeance doesn't mean vengeance was ever enacted" ...I mean, do I have to explain what a promise means to you? how about an oath?
She is motivated by her desire for vengeance. She made an oath with the Entity to become a Killer in its trials in exchange for a promise of "blood and vengeance". If her dad becomes a Killer, her vengeance will be denied, because she will be unable to hurt him unless they introduce a Killer Vs. Killer mode.
Here are some helpful defintions for you if you still don't see where the issue arrises:
Vengeance: punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong.
Promise: a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen.
1 -
It is a game, yeah. But they don't have to write themselves into a corner by introducing her dad as a killer. That'd be a dumb move.
3 -
I imagine he'll be a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde type killer, meaning he'll have a stealthy passive mode and can transform at will. This could all just be a teaser for the spirit changes they had in store, though... the lack of a sword could be some cheeky symbolizing of Rin being disarmed. Who knows.
0 -
My guess its just going to be an skin.
0 -
he is badass because he managed to murder his family, all that rin did was be a stupid asian girl and die then become an edgelord wishing for revenge
also its pretty big, the one he used in the trailer looks like the biggest weapon in the game

They wrote themselves into a corner when they introduced Ash. At this point, they can only go deeper. Bring on Papa Yama.

petite asian girls with baggy eyes wishing for revenge is very edgy i agree

You're operating on the assumption that the Entity is morally upstanding and cares about keeping promises, and not a malevolent, indifferent being that couldn't care less what its puppets want or feel as long as it gets fed. Even if that's not the case, "blood and revenge" is all we know of the oath that was made, and that's incredibly vague.
But since you're operating from such a level of intellectual superiority that you seem to be more interested in talking down to me and insulting my intelligence than actual considering my points and discussing them in good faith, I don't see this conversation going anywhere productive so I'll be ending it here.
4 -
I'm here still hoping it's the Alchemist lol
I also want the father as a Survivor but if he's a Survivor, why is a sword missing? Who took it?
2 -
Murdering your family doesn't make you a "badass"... somebody should put you on a list? /s (maybe)
11 -
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudge I want the Alchemist so bad. Maybe he snuck in and stole a katana because he needs it to become the next killer 😅
On a serious note, as long as whoever it is doesn't stealth, stalk, teleport, or phase I really don't care who it is. I'm just sick of powers that don't bring anything new to the table and are just some variation of crap we already have with like 1 or 2 things changed.
Also, it could be a red herring. You know how they like to trick us sometimes, and something to do with the Spirit/her family would be really obvious. Remember with the Plague when they just showed a bunch of smoke and the censer, which technically was related to the character but gave us literally zero information or indication of who/what she actually is and does

in a fictional virtual world it is

Fibjean I'm sorry if I offended a real person, I'm just short on patience because I really can't believe anyone is thick enough to say '"blood and revenge" is all we know of the oath that was made, and that's incredibly vague." like no, it isn't vague, I gave you the definition of revenge. She wants revenge vs. dad. That's not possible with Killer dad. And if the Entity is just a liar, well, the lore sucks and we shouldn't trust anything we here: lying is bad, mmkay? And it makes for lame stories when anything can be retconned/disregarded. No weight or consequence to the writing, setup for no payoff, it's bad writing. Sorry if you're a real person and not a troll btw, I didn't want to offend.
