Gen speeds are an issue, here is how ***NOT*** to fix them.

Making them take longer.

Just so we are clear if anyone says that gens go to quickly and the games end to fast and BHVR need to extend the game. 99% of the time they are not referring to making the gens take longer.

I personally feel that doing gens is one of if not the most boring main objective in a game. The only saving grace DbD has for its game length is the fact that gens are boring to do so survivors sometimes don't do them that fast.

If gens could be done at maximum efficiency games would end in less than 5 min. But because gens are such a chore to do especially with ruin, games last on average about 10 min.

So 2 things that need to be fixed for DbD to be a 100,000% better game.

Don't let games have the c a p a b i l i t y to be done in less than 5 min by making gens take something other than holding M1, optimally have the survivors need to run around the map to do something to then be able to work on gens.

Then in addition to that, makes gens something other than holding M1. Maybe a little puzzle or a quick time event, or a fuse box where you have to move the parts into the correct place. Go search up alternate gen ideas and you will find thousands of suggestions that are 1000* more interesting than just hold M1 and press space sometimes.

This would make games slower for killers so the weaker ones have a fighting chance and then some larger nerfs can come in for the most powerful killers so they aren't so dominate every game from the slowed down speed. Then balance the game as needed to bring everything in line so it can be fun to play for both sides and would remove those super annoying games as killer where gens get done so fast you can't do anything, and remove the games as survivor where the killer is far too powerful and no one does gens because they don't like holding M1.

Then from there, rework the ranking system because its garbage.

All of these changes would take some time so maybe DbD would need a Chapter patch called Evolution or Metamorphosis, for how many things would be getting reworked, remade, and fixed. I call it this because any time I reference operation health from R6S people dismiss it saying it didn't work. Yes it didn't work in that game, but that doesn't mean something like it can't work in this game.

I mean if they are an issue now and a second objective takes time why not increase it until they put in a second objective then lower it when it's in

    Problem on Survivors: tunneled, camped

    Problem on Killer: gen time

    ++++++++++++

Survivors: Get Gas to put on Gen before working (requires 2 full Gas carry to fix 1 Gen, so it will be Get Gas -> Fill up -> Repair Gen -> Get Gas -> Fill up -> Repair Gas)

Killers:All Survivors have DS by default everytime they got unhooked, ??sec cool down but only if 30m away from Killer, this will force Killer to go for another target (if they see one).

Just basic idea, not going detail because Im not Dev to decide.

My idea was like a 45 second "grace period" after a gen was done where all gens are blocked off. Granted it can cause some serious immersion, it can be a step in the right direction.

Maybe make the exit gate have parts scattered around the map that spawn as each gen gets done?

Honestly there is no way you can change gens as they are without a lot of blowback and without essentially overhauling the game.

Gens are boring to do, and could have been done better but touching them because some killers feel they're unfair or whatever complaint they have isn't really a good idea, and isn't something I see them considering, especially since every response to a complaint would likely be "Do a better job pressuring, and managing yourself as a killer." They would have a valid point in saying this too. Because after all as a killer that is supposed to be your role, to affect the flow of the game, and attempt to take it hostage by tactics. Making this easier goes against the core of what the game is supposed to be about.

I for one don't really have a complaint for them exactly, but I have observed that at times they're placed in very disadvantageous spots.

Still doesn’t fix the issue that they are so boring to do.
